I wish I had found your videos 15 years ago. I started a city & guides course when I was 40, I get the wiring but struggled with the maths & theory. I was working as a decorator so had no one to help out of the course. The lady teaching, although she knew her stuff really couldn't explain it, she just assumed everyone there understood A level maths. ( which it seemed all the young students did). Ultimately I gave up as I thought I would ever pass inspecting & testing and the course was very expensive at a private college. I have learned and understood more in this one video, than in an entire term 15 years ago. I have just wired an outbuilding I built, lots of sockets, lights, two way switches, heater and consumer unit, and really have the urge to get qualified. I do have an electrician that is over seeing what I have done as I do it, who is going to test it all. Brilliant videos, invaluable to someone like myself. Thanks.

@@sparkyhelp3997 with the help from people like yourself, I think I could do it now. The difficult part now will be finding someone that would take me on, as you need to be working as an electrician in order to be assessed, as far as I am aware. I am going to try though, with your sort of information, I will at least be able to demonstrate that I have a reasonable understanding of the theory to any potential employer. Thanks again

What is the ring in step one if nothing is plugged in?

Hi, there should not be anything plugged into the sockets, in step one (see at 7min in video) the ring is the end to end of each conductor, this ensures the fixed wiring has no breaks and is of equal lengths. Hope this helps, Please Like Share & Subscribe.
