Hello Kiril , thank you very much for this great and very interesting video. I hope that you will find some time for part two with the battery option. Greetings from Austria. Yours Peter
Glad you enjoyed it! I hope this video will get more views and comments as yours, because speaking honestly it is not getting as much traction as I hoped, at least for now...
Adding the battery shield was trivial. My application is to monitor my garage door state. The problem now is to manage the battery life and to not fill the database with millions of unneeded data points. This might not be the right solution for this application!
Great video. Is this also capable of reporting elevation and azimuth in degrees? I want to use the sun azimuth and elevation within home assistant to guide my solar tracker, and then check that the tracker has moved to this position using a three axis gyro/accelerometer. Will this do it?
Good question! BMI160 support fast start-up mode and it is waking up based on any motion, but I haven't think much about that yet. I will try this second battery part ONLY if there is enough interest/views for this video. So let's see...
Thanks for the video. Interesting. I'd have some ideas of what could be done to HA and maybe quite cheaply. A water meter. I think we have a similar meter - an alarm clock on a pipe with a numeric display. I think I've seen something like that called S0tool. Then an electricity meter. They sell meters with cable clamps. Could HA do an event alert and send it via text or call for example. Maybe to clear a flood alarm. Sometimes a person doesn't have data on their phone.
You can make HA to make calls from automations and I'm using that constantly. I even have a video showing how you can enable that. Just check out my Home Assistant Twilio video - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JCjzEKdlezk.html
I have build the sensor #GyroOwned, I have question, on the web interface I get no updates, only on the Home Assistant Overview Page I get Updates for my Gyro Sensor any idea why ? Awaiting part 2 to use battery module for ESP8266. Thank you for another great Project!!!
@@KPeyanski I'm not sure what I'll use it for yet but maybe I could use it for a garage door sensor or just have it in my workshop for adjusting the lighting. I've already got a spare D1 mini and plenty of batteries so I only need to purchase the sensor. It should be a fun thing to play with anyway.
Hi. I can't get this to work. I ordered 2 sets, but not combination of them works. I even copy/pasted your config, but no. The D1 Mini comes up fine, but the BMI160 sensor can not be detected
