There is something very important that you did here and I am really happy to see what you did, even though you did not really stress it. Pulling the extra cord so that the stitches could fit around to the other needle when using a longer circular needle FIXED my problem! I was not able to figure this out until you casually mentioned it. WOW! Thanks. You might might to stress that in your next video.

I just love your video. You explain things so thoroughly. I had been using the long cast method. But after trying your method I will continue to use this method . I do not have to cut the yarn with your method. Still going to do your pattern but on straight needled instead. Flat instead of in the round.

just some feedback. I loved your seed stitch hat and in fact made 2 for my wife since learning it. This one though you need to slow just a little the first time doing something as the first row was easy to understand K-K-P-P but when you got to row 2 you were like K-K -P through the back - P through the back.......On that I am totally confused and a little slower motion for the first few stitches would be great on future patterns. I know in my case I just started knitting in November 2021 so am still new to all this and some stitches still a little confusing. Otherwise thanks my wife loved the first two hats I did using your seed stitch video!!!

I love the hat! I am a “regular” knitter (not continental) and I saw a video once that said for the ribbing, if you knit into the back loop for the knit stitches it makes a nicer transition between the knit and purl (otherwise the second knit stitch is loose). I do this for ribbing to make it look nicer.

In the video you mention that in the first row the last two stitches "have to be purl" but they would be with 80 stitches. Next rows are k1, p2 until the length you want. So all rows are exactly the same aren't they? Just want to be sure I'm not misunderstanding something.
@knittingforbaby

Yes but with the extra stitch you join in the round so you’re left with 80 stitches and then you start with k1,p1 all around for every row. I hope that helps

Where does it say on the packet the size of yearn ? I am not sure about the size of mine. I know it DK and they suggest needles 4 on the packet ... not sure if I need to do in two threads or use single thread and cast on more stitches ?

This is the equivalent to chunky yarn. In the US the yarn is numbered. You can use two strands of DK.

So if my husband has a 23” Charlie Brown head 80 stitches will be enough? Your directions are so clear I’m looking forward to making him a hat.
@knittingforbaby
@knittingforbaby 3 года назад
Lol 😆 yes but if you want you can add 4 more stitches. Good luck.

Can you do this with straight needles?
@knittingforbaby
@knittingforbaby 2 года назад
Yes but you would need to seam it at the end.

hi following your pattern but on straight needles and end up with the first two stitches being a purl - where your pattern starts for the reduction on two knit stitches - I have cast on 80 stitches - where have I gone wrong? appreciate your help - thanks, Paul.

I have a question, I am new to knitting and saw you knit in the back loop instead of the front loop, could you explain that? Thank you
@knittingforbaby

I’m a combination knitter you can knit and purl however way you know and the end result will be the same 😉

Thank you. I'm actually doing a pattern that calls for knitting in the back right now. I appreciate you.

If you get a circular needle with a shorter shaft it will work better for hats. I think what I have is a quicksilver. It is a little tight at the beginning but it works well.

Is the yarn an 8 ply and is it acrylic wool? ❤
@knittingforbaby
@knittingforbaby Год назад
I think 8 ply is too thin. You can use 10 ply instead and use wool or acrylic.
