Mango Bhapa Doi is a heavenly dessert that hails from the culinary treasure trove of Bengal, India. This delightful treat combines the richness of yogurt with the tropical sweetness of mangoes, creating a harmonious symphony of flavours.
Creating Mango Bhapa Doi is fairly easy using three man ingredients only. Fresh yogurt is blended with condensed milk, and mango puree, creating a creamy base. This mixture is then delicately flavoured with saffron and ground cardamom and then steamed, allowing the flavours to meld together while retaining the dessert's silky texture. The result? A decadent treat that melts in your mouth with each spoonful.
Ingredients:
400g Full fat thick Greek Yoghurt(You can use hung curd instead)
200ml Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 Ripe Kesar mango(Extract the pulp)
1/2 Tsp Cardamom Powder
1 Pinch of saffron strands added to 1 Tbsp warm Milk
For Garnish
I Kesar Mango finely diced
1 Pinch Saffron strands
1/2 Tbsp Pistachio Sliers
1/2 Tbsp Flaked almonds (Coloured red) To make these place a tablespoon on flaked almonds in a ziplock bag with two to three drops of red food colouring . Shake the bag to colour the almonds. Transfer to a plate and leave to dry. They can be stored for garnishing.
