Very helpful. I had to replace the gasket and it was still leaking. After watching the video, I realized there is a groove the gasket needs to seat in. Worked like a charm! Thank you for taking the time to make the video.

@@MrHardware1 thank you SO MUCH!!! I've been fighting this toilet trying to find the right part for replacement when I just noticed the slight raised writing "Mansfield Watersaver" on the top. I was watching another video, in which many men gave thanks for a thorough replacement tutorial. The thing is that everything has to be taken apart! It was a huge & messy job. Your video was a simple shortcut that went straight to the problem, and I'm very thankful for it. Why take apart everything and risk breaking tight seals, to only have to reseal and check for leaks? Leave all the seals intact, and just go to the root of the problem. Unscrew the top, replace the one gasket that's damaged, recap, job done! Ingenious!!!

I had an issue with the toilet being hard to flush. So I watched a video on how to replace the flush valve, and just felt that taking the entire tank off to make the repair was a bit much for some reason. But I went to Home Depot and bought a new flush valve and handle anyway. Well, after further inspection, I noticed that the flush valve was getting stuck in the orange gasket, because it had worn a groove around the sides of it. So after watching this video, I purchased and installed a new orange gasket, and it works like new now. So thanks for the vid. It was very helpful.

Almost a month ago now where I live we had temperatures plummit to averaging -35° F without windchill and the septic line in my mom's home froze, backing up all the way to her bathroom. I had to rip out the floor, toilet, put new flooring in, and replace all the angle valves for the water shut offs in the bathroom. All of that was a war in itself. I'm a single mom who helps to take care of my mom, kids, pets, etc, and not a carpenter or plumber! When it came to reinstallation of the toilet, I was so happy everything else was out of the way and done, til I realized I had no idea how to reassemble the hardware in the toilet tank. It took me hours to find a video like this one! I didn't know the brand, model, or anything of the parts I had. Previous parts were broken, missing, and scattered from frantically ripping out everything in the bathroom including the flooring when the blackwater backed up into the house. I didn't even know what part was called what, just been learning how to do repairs as I find the things that need repairing. I thought I'd managed to put the toilet flush and fill valves on correctly, but the flush valve was leaking. Couldn't figure out why because I couldn't even find a video or diagram of the flush valve up close. Now I know it's that rubber gasket/washer piece. Thanks for the vid 😁

I have replaced my gaskets in the past, but today I couldn't get a seal good enough to stop the leaking. I looked at your video again and realized that while I could get the gasket to rotate, I was having to use too much effort. When I found a setting where it turned freely it provided a solid seal. Thanks!

Great video; it answered questions I didn't know I had. I should have watched it before trying to fix the lever the first time. I had never seen a mechanism without a chain before. Since the house is 7 years old, I will go buy new levers and seals for each of the toilets. Also, a critical note is that the gasket rotates freely when it is in the top groove. If it doesn't turn easily it is in wrong and pinched. I watched the video and it took about two minutes to make the repair. Two minutes because the gasket was not moving freely in the groove the first time.

Just another comment about the seal. It may not leak water into the tank, but if you have a hard time pushing down on the flush handle, the seal is probably deformed causing the tower section to not lay on the seal but push down and stick to it. Better to replace the $2 seal than having to also buy a new handle (~$6) because it broke while trying to force it down to flush. I learned that from experience with kids who don't tell you when thinks aren't working right.
