Thanks a bunch for this video, man. I was really irritated that the home we moved into has this type of toilet, but this really calmed me down and helped me to fix it. You're the man!!

Like why was this even designed 😒🤨. This is too much. I rather change a flapper every so often. 💯. Now I'm considering buying an entire new toilet 😒 Thanks for the informative video though.

Great video. FYI, that little pice of caulk you removed from the hole underneath the tank should be resealed. Between your video and some forums (where I found the calk info) I was able to tackle this job.

Thanks Adam for a very informative video. About 4 min in, you looked at and removed some kind of white plug. I have one in my bowl too but it appears to be an actual plug for the hole. Since the toilet operated fine with the plug in place, I opted to leave it. What is the plug for and do you have any problems without it?
@AdamsWorkshop
@AdamsWorkshop 4 месяца назад
No, I have not had any problems. I don't know why it was there.

@@AdamsWorkshop Thanks. FWIW, I had no issues with my repair either. I took the opportunity to also replace the old float ball fill valve as well. This was such an easy repair, I've decided to do the other toilets in our home as preventive maintenance. Thanks again for a very informative video.

Thanks for the video. Learned something new. However I the fluid master keeps going going off every 10 minutes. Any advice?
@AdamsWorkshop
@AdamsWorkshop 3 месяца назад
My toilet was going off like that too. That is why I replaced the flush valve. The seals at the bottom were deteriorating causing the problem. I did change the float first cause it was sticking. It helped but it was not the main problem.

Hi. Can I replace the guts with a universal fill valve and flapper?
@AdamsWorkshop
@AdamsWorkshop 4 месяца назад
I have not tried that. I don't know if the body is the same size or not. If it's not then it could leak.

i have one of those, but the water is above the flush valve tube, is that okay? Its not running or leaking. And i know most other types if flush valve tubes, the water is supposed to be 1/2" below the top. So im just weirded out that the water is above the tube
@AdamsWorkshop
@AdamsWorkshop 6 месяцев назад
You should be able to adjust your float valve to adjust the water level in the tank.

any issues since? I heard that the hexnut they provide to attach the flush valve to the tank doesn't seat as well (as the rounded one that was on it previously) to the black gasket that's between the tank and the bottom half of the toilet. I'm actually in the middle of this same repair.
@AdamsWorkshop

So far, I have had no leaks. It is working well.

The original hexnut is completely different from the one that comes with the replacement. The toilet gasket is supposed to fit over the hexnut and the tank is then lowered into the toilet. The gasket is NOT to be placed onto the toilet and the tank lowered onto it. It is impossible to fit the gasket over the new hexnut since the new hexnut is not circular like the original. You MUST use the original hexnut and fit the new gasket over it. Otherwise, when the toilet is flushed, you'll get water coming out from under the tank.

My flush valve on an American Standard was too wide to twist off inside the toilet. And the replacement is even wider. Like.... sigh

wtf I got a call 2 days ago for a running mansfield toilet and it was my first time running into it... Didn't have replacement parts so I used a complete tank kit and swapped out all the parts with a standard two inch flush valve. Ill watch the video regardless, but very ironic it showed up on my homepage immediately after

In theory, couldn't you just replace the red gasket without replacing the whole valve? This would avoid the hassle of taking the whole tank off and potentially breaking it.
@AdamsWorkshop
@AdamsWorkshop 5 месяцев назад
I tried doing that on a different toilet before. But it still leaked. Plus the plastic was getting dry and brittle. So replacing the whole thing made sense for my situation.

@AdamsWorkshop thanks for the reply! I have 2 upstairs (they put all mansfield toilets in when they built my house) and they both need changed. I'll probably just bite the bullet and replace the whole valve. Thanks brother!
@KhibXuab

If it still leaks when you replaced that red gasket, then you put that gasket on wrong. You should be able to spin the gasket when it's put on right. The red gasket does the job unless parts of the whole valve broke or something. The little cap on the top end of my valve broke off, I was able to glue it back on but pretty sure I'll end up replacing the whole valve sooner or later.

1:07 All that work because the seal, that the tube sits on, was bad???? No no no. Loosen the nut on the flush handle. Pull the little black hose out of the white round thing. Unscrew just the white round thing. Pull out the tube. It comes right out. Remove the bad seal from the groove it's in, at the bottom of the tank (inside the tank), and replace it with a new seal. Takes about 10 minutes. The new seal costs 3-4 bucks. lol

This is a horrible design. Compared to the flapper most commodes have this brand offers way too much resistance on the flush handle. Does anyone know if a flapper valve can replace this vacuum valve?

Mansfield toilets are such trash and so poorly designed. The seal needs to be replaced all the time, the "tower" "flap" doesn't always settle right. The fill mechanism is garbage. Just such bad toilets.
