I struggled too but a month ago I figured it out. Get texturizer and dry shampoo. The dry shampoo keeps the oil away and texturizer kind of made it hair feel like a wig kind of hair and its soooooo easy cus you can form and shape your hair wo any fly aways & slipping.
I just want to thank you big time!! My hair is very long, almost touching my waist but layered and thick. Everytime i tried to do a messy bun i looked like someone shoved a big bucket on my head LOL, from all my long hair. From your video i was able to use one thick elastic and hair spray and it looks stunning. I paid my hair dresser $400 on my wedding day to do the same thing i did. Thank you again. Really easy to do. Your tutorial has to be the best by far. I have been going at it several days and still cannot make a messy bun, it’s a horrible something that looks horrible. I cannot figure out why I cannot get the step right when flipping the hair over my hand and the twist band ends up at the top. I have saved your tutorial as I’m going to start first thing in the am and practice til I get it right. I love how easy yours seems to be. Thank you bunches from a 62 yr old with long natural blonde hair, with a couple of layers that I’m growing out.
Omg I used to do this hairstyle almost everyday during my high school years! It was always sooo quick and easy and always looked nice, that's why I loved it :)
spray the roots of your hair w/ 'dry shampoo' rub thru hair , brush out, this and pre-teasing roots will help w/ some volume I would think, I like the Goodie thin plastic comb/brush/pick combo myself.

Alyssa Montoya I only heard about this 'trick' last week, I have the worst flyaways-even hairspray on a toothbrush won't work- I tried it Sunday on freshly washed crazy hair and it worked beautifully!

Then fold it a time or two more. As long as the fold isn't too long, it'll work. Make the folds too long and it'll look like you're wearing a pillow on your head-which will work if you're going to the Kentucky Derby. Otherwise, just try using a few more twists of the hair and rubber band, then take the ends of your hair and finish as Annie did.
I just bought like 1000 bobby pins, donuts, flat snappy things to make buns. None worked great, none did a messy bun at all. I have shoulder length hair still chopped up from home covid cut....and your technique worked. Thanks!

I am SO Thankful I found Your Channel. I was just about to chop all My Hair off!! Do to My Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, etc...styling My Long hair is a painful nightmare..so..the messy top bun is My Go-To. Over the past year or so..No matter what I did..My “Morning Mom Bun” was a WRECK..and not a cute one. LOL!! So I will do it over and over...which defeats the “Easy” & “Less Painful” point of the messy bun. After watching this Video...Bobby-pins are now My BFF’s. They make a huge difference. THIS ACTUALLY WORKS!!! I have really long hair and so much volume in my hair! All the other videos don't work! But finally this one does! But if you have a lot of I hair I prefer to do it upside down to give a better look!

It takes practice, I watch Missy Sue for some of her hairstyles but not for the extensive braiding she does. I am 67 1/2 and I know that sounds old but I look 50 and I have really long, healthy, stylish pretty hair and I like the messy bun. I think messy bun is going to be the words of the decade! HOLY COW! This was actually really easy and looks great. Only took me about 4 tries to get it right. My hair styling experience is brushing and walking out the door, so saying this is easy really means something to me. Ty so much for making this video.

I feel like this works better for thinner, finer hair. when I put my hair into the first bun and pull it apart it stays in sections. it doesn't have the same texture. your hair seems to grip together when it's pulled apart to seem more voluminous but mine doesn't do the same thing -clean, dirty, dry shampoo. doesn't work. my hair is medium thickness.
This is amazing because I hate using a million Bobby pins when I just want a simple messy bun (That looks good) but my go-to bun never turns out the way I would like. This is is easy and great! 💖💗💘💙

I've tried a billion buns but this seems slightly different than all the others. I'll have to try it and see if I can actually do it. I realize bobbie pins can be an option so I guess I'll see how it goes
