Another great video... Had a question after you spray your last color do you do a short flash out then remove stencils and do final bake or do you final bake with stencils and remove after cool down

I normally pop everything in at 180 for about 15 minutes, to get them completely tacked out. Pull them out and peel. Three reasons. They come off easier, there's no adhesive residue, and if theres a mistake, it;'s much easier to sand off soft Cerakote vs hard Cerakote. Thanks for watching!

Is there such thing as baking it to long at 250 degrees? Also, is it ok to let it sit over night if it's only been tacked out? If I were to try a 3 or 4 layer camo after work I wouldn't have time to let it cool between colors and still finish in one day. On that note, what happens if you spray it while it's hot? So many questions! Thanks! Love your videos!

There's no really too long, as long as you have a circulating fan. I know a guy who slept through an alarm and cooked metal at 300 for 5 hours, and it was fine. Lighter colors might be a problem tho. Cerakote says you need to hard bake an item within 24 hours of tacking it out. If you spray it while it's hot, you take the chance of flashing the solvent into your coating, resulting in shiny spots.

Pretty cool. Nothing like multicam though. But I do really appreciate the vids!

We do plenty of traditional multicam (there's tons of it out there), but generally don't video it. It's been done quite a bit. We try to show more one off, and custom projects. Thanks for watching!

@BransonCerakote Do you have any tips for fixturing or hanging Pmags? Pmags lack the hole in the mag release, I'm looking though your videos but so far have not found an example. I have alligator clips and J-hooks, but wasn't sure if there was a better way as I have about 20+ to do as gifts to family. Any help wound be appreciated.

The old Cerakote hook kit had really long (10 inch or so) C hooks. We put those through the inside, then hook the bottom. Another option that would take a little more time would be to spray the groove where the baseplate site, tack them out, then re-install the base plate. Hang the mag with a torsion hook through the follower hole, and complete the project.

John, have you ever had any issues with spotting using Graphite Black? Seems that's the only color I've had this issue, replaced potentially outdated catalyst, tried every adjustment possible with my LPH80....Just become a challenge color for me. Temperature perhaps?

Can you email me a pic? White is usually the only color that makes me drink at work.

Hey I know good video that could help people John.. gasing out for guys who have old surplus mags using a touch to make sure you get all the oils out the metal.. also have you used the bake on clear.. could increase your turnaround times esp on things that don’t need the temperature requirements of 1500+ °..

Just soaking in acetone has always been enough for us. I'd be afraid of gas residue from the torch. We've heard a lot of horror stories about the H series clear. Our customers understand that there will be a longer wait for clear, and we haven't had anyone care yet. We have a specific rack for it that's out of the way.

Do you remove all the stencils prior to final bake or after?
@BransonCerakote
@BransonCerakote 4 года назад
I usually pop the project in for about 10 minutes, then peel. It takes away the risk of adhesive transfer.

Hi john! I am having some issues with my apply. For example: I applied Gold on a gun, I cured it at 250F for 1 hour and the color was turned darker.. I applied Gold and it looks like Burnt Bronze.. I mixed hardener 18:1 .. what do you think? The oven? I checked the temperature constantly with a thermometer and that is ok. Thanks
@BransonCerakote
@BransonCerakote 5 лет назад
Couple of things. Don't mix any ratio except 12:1. The other ratios have serious durability issues. Two, at 250 it needs two hours, not one. That by itself shouldn't cause color change. Does your oven have a convection fan?
@motogroupconcesionarioofic3914
Branson Cerakote thanks John. Do you recommend me mix ratio 12:1 ? It means 24ml Gold(for example) and 2ml hardener. Is it ok? My oven has convection fan... thank you
@BransonCerakote
@BransonCerakote 5 лет назад
Exactly. I'm not sure why it would get darker. The usual culprit is heat, either too hot or no fan. How far above your heating element is the part?
@silentwarrior11six78
@silentwarrior11six78 4 года назад
there is no durability issues within the range of 12:1---18:1---24:1 I would highly suggest going to cerekote's website and find the tech data sheets, this will allow you to find the optimum temperatures for the colors you're using ;) I dont spray until I've referenced them. Takes more time but the results are worth it.

How do I stop the high spots from being created in camo patterns and other multi layer paints jobs?
@BransonCerakote
@BransonCerakote 5 лет назад
@@lokiwartooth1138 It's caused by too much volume on the follow up layers. The only layer that has to be 1 mil is the base.You can either do like we did in this video and spray splotches where you want to put pieces, or you may need to sand the item back to bare metal somewhere towards the middle of the project.
@lokiwartooth1138

Branson Cerakote thank you very much. I tried clear coat but to no avail. I was doing a mil on all coats. Your input is very helpful. Great channel. Thank you again.
@BransonCerakote

@@lokiwartooth1138 Glad to help. That's a common problem. Cerakote does a decent job of putting basic info out, but doesn't really have an outlet for the grey areas.
