TacoCactusComedy depends on the wool. I didn't use flat irons when making furry ears and you can see the difference it does. Flat irons should only be used on synthetic wool, if anyone wants to use natural sheep yarn or I dunno, a goat's, then just brushing it could work
Zullala, I used a fine toothed comb; it pulls less fluff out than a dog brush, and it's faster :3 you're also less likely to stab or scratch yourself XD I loved your tutorial! Can you try wolf ears? I saw the fox ones, but I just need to know how to make it realistic like the wolf tail was :D
I use all my extra fluff for making felt animals or as stuffing. Yeah, I always stabbed myself in the beginning, but after my 3rd tail I became really good at special awareness haha. Probably could have worn a worker's glove, but I like to feel the fluffs between my fingers. You can just make them smaller than the fox ears and use wolf colored yarn. Always look at a reference :D. I would never have been able to achieve the realness in my yarn tail if I didn't look at a ref. I also make wolf ears and sell them in my Etsy shop. My shop is closed while I create new items but my IG username is: Zullalas.Shop if you wanted to brows my wares.
Zullala I couldn’t find one when I was looking so I instead got one of those really fine bristle brushes (you know the scratchy ones for hair) it works really well and I’m happy with the results
Thank you for this quick, straightforward easy to understand video. Most tutorials end up with 75% rambling about nonsense and 25% instruction -- this was great! Thank you!
wolf tail, fox tail, whatever, I just want a fluffy tail 😁 *wears tail & ears to school everyday* this tutorial is awesome x3 congrats on your patience with this project 😁 I'll probably end up insane- wait I am insane.... 😲 IM GONNA END UP NORMAL! NOOOOOO (ignore my pshycotic non-English x3)
Just made mine! Mines a bit short, but it took me less then 2 hrs. This was my method: I used a thin yarn for the base, it doesnt really matter how thick or thin the base it. Now, its very important that the rest of the yarn you use is very thick, like straight up wool. (Thicker then the one in the video) and if its thick enough, you can just pass it through the braid and tie it on. You dont need way to many strands, and you dont have to combine to many strands. Make sure that the end of the tail is long enough that you cant see the base, but if its the proper color you can just leave it. Make sure to brush out the yarn.
Your video was so informative about making the tail! I know it's not even close to be Halloween but I like it start early. I'm going to be the Cheshire Cat from Tim burtons movie and I'm so exited to make this tail!😄😆😁
my daughter and I just started making hers tonight .... we found that if we used lion brand wool-ease for the smaller pieces and seperated the two-ply strands before brushing them, it's super easy to brush out .... just thought we'd leave a heads-up.
Thank you so much! I don’t know how to sew and my mom doesn’t ethier and my fursuit doesn’t come with a tail I can’t wait to wear this and uh yeah thank you again!
So happy i found this! Ive wanted one of these fox tails for years but all the ones on ebay are actual fox tails! 😣😣😣 how someone could cut off a fox's tail for a fashiom statement?
Having fun making this for the first time, the tufts take forever though, (I did mine a tiny bit different but it looks the same just puffier) thanks for the tutorial. I also don't want to straighten the hair it just takes away from puffyness at least in my opinion.
I'm making one, from what I've noticed you need to knot the actaul fur part, I wrapped my tuffs 10 times then tied it cut most of the top strands off but two then just brush it out. So far no fall out after the brushing. When I tried her way I noticed there was so few strands and didn't like the look. Hope this helped maybe!
I like doing it this way, just because I can do it when I'm chilling at night, no need for sewing machine and other things that take me away from my comfy chair!
It's super handy to do, I made most of my fur tufts while watching Netflix and such. So you can take your time doing it, and you can't reaaaally make any mistakes!
I love your tail, it is so lovely. C: When you were adding the fluffs to the base were you adding the strings through the braid or wrapping it around it and knotting it?
Through the braid. so I'd tie it around one section of braid on the left, then a section of braid on the right. I even added to the middle in some places because of thickness issues.
Making one for my sister atm just curious ...about how much yarn was used? So far I've used an entire thing of yarn I bought at walmart and I've just reached about 65% of the way. Same size as yours. Ran out so i have to get more! 😭
Well imma try this this looks so amazing. Everyone else sews it in and I’m clumsy so xD also that lipstick look great on yewww^^ (also imma make mine more fluffy bc kitty cats)
Yeah if you make it longer it will definitely be more wolf-like. If you make two brains instead of one, then join them using the fluffy tufts, it will be nice and thick too.
What do you recommend to use as a substitute for the hair-straightener? Do you wash it in warm water maybe? Also, is there a way to avoid losing that much fluff of the yarn? It seems like a bit of a waste so I was wondering whether there was a way to avoid this? Or at least have less of it fall out?
Thank you so much for this tutorial! It's perfect for me to make my Theriotype tail and make a few practice tails ^^ Also, you're Welsh right? I love your accent ^w^
DUDE, thank you SO much for making this! It works out great for my Halloween costume!!! I am being Holo from "Spice and Wolf," And this is, by far, the most descriptive video... Thanks! xD {Btw, you just got a subscriber. :P}
Samantha Polchies yes I folded them in half so that I could tie a knot and make a loop at the top. then I braided the rest. the loop means that it can slide onto a belt, so that you don't have to sew a thing!
thank you for this video! I'm making a faun costume for halloween and I need a small little tail (goat tail) for my costume so Im hoping I can make one like this :3
Daffodil Animates hair straightener stop it being so scraggly looking. If you have a flat iron/steam iron, you can try those. But if you look at the animal ears vid, I didn't straighten that, so you can see the difference.
