There is still so much snow! It looks so different for the first two miles, then, wow, lots of snow! How much longer do you think before the trail is clear? The mountains and sky looked great! 👍😊 Sunny back near the trailhead!
I think in about 2 weeks the section in the woods will be mostly clear. As far as the upper portion where I didn't make it, idk exactly. But I was there before a couple of times way back when and I remember it as being rather steep and rocky, also in guide books it says the final stretch can be treacherous without an ice axe early in season; I'd guess 3-4 weeks for relatively smooth sailing to the top. .
@@JenniferLupine psst! secret tip. Going up the ridge west(ish) of easy pass leads to more good views and a potential campsite on the edge of the NP. The views here are not exactly long-reaching but they are impressive. I call this spot "Eagle's Nest Camp".
I went back up there today! (video pending). I couldn't remember the exact direction to "Eagle's Nest Camp" and went straight up from the pass (NW direction). Didn't get to the spot I remembered, but in the process found other camps that had sea-of-peaks views. So I moved what I am calling Eagle's Nest Camp over to that spot. Although as I will mention in the video, I am not entirely sure of the legality of camping there. I think the sites northwest of the ridge crest are legal, and the others are in the National Park. Perhaps one could get a cross-country permit there from the NPS (which unfortunately involves taking a number at the parking lot of the Marblemount ranger station, and waiting, and likely more waiting).
