I love how uncomplicated Alison makes cooking seem! I feel like most cooking channels make even roasting chicken seem like A Task, but here is Alison, truly showing that we can do it and it's going to be simple, delicious, and possible!
Alison's channel is one of the many new channels that filled the hole in my heart that Bon Appetit left after it fell apart. Just people cooking great recipes in their home & talking passionately about food all while just being themselves. I'd watch videos like this over any cable cooking show. Moving out of my parents' house soon and can't wait to make some of these recipes.
Your authenticity and self deprecating humor never ceases to delight me. This meal looks so simple yet rustic elegant. I can never pass up a whole roasted chicken. Thanks for sharing your technique and food insight with us. We learn a lot from you.
Will you please do a video about all your kitchen, pantry and fridge essentials? I am dying to know what brands and ingredients are must haves for you! ALSO THE FASHUN JUST STAYS SLAYING ALL OF US, AND I LOVE YOU!!!!!
That was hilarious! Here in Portland we get these giant bananas in our local grocery that completely elude me but they are organic.....like Alison pointed out about the leeks.
I live in Los Angeles, and every week after your Home Movies come out, I notice a distinctive lack of your recipes respective ingredients at my local Pavilions (especially after the key lime dish). You really do affect how people shop, and I think that's super cool - and I can't wait to make this dish, it looks amazing!
It would be a nice addition to see the camera crew also taste the food at the end! I know they get to eat after filming, but it’d be a fun thing to watch occasionally! :-)
This was a delicious Sunday dinner. After recovering from my husband throwing out all but the whites of my leeks in order to make space in the fridge, it was a huge success. My daughter said best meal she’s had in a long time. Thank you, Alison!
"At the start of spring you find yourself surrounded by certain vegetables - potato, potato, leek, potato, asparagus, potato" Ladies and gentlemen the spring monologue ala Alison Roman.
I made leeks last night. White wine, red pepper flakes, two TB butter and olive oil and anchovy. Soooo good! I made it not from a recipe guys. I am proud of my knowledge from all Alison Roman videos.
HI ALISON. I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT I am eating your eggplant parmesan while watching this new episode and I am so glad, also because is longer than 25 minutes. Love from Copenhagen.
Best day of the week now 🙂🙂🙂I am definitely making this one next week. Can’t wait! My mom requested a week’s worth of Alison Roman recipes for her Mother’s Day gift this year (or Mother’s Week gift as it ended up being lol). It was amazing! 7 Alison Roman recipes in a row and she said it was the greatest Mother’s Day she’s ever had. We love you and your recipes. Peace and love. ❤️
I’ve already made this recipe twice. It’s so good. I was searching for what to make with all the leeks I grew and stumbled upon your channel…now I’m a subscriber.
Loved this recipe when you sent it out in the news letter! I used the left over chicken and aioli to make super delicious chicken salad sandwiches for lunch the next day. Definitely one I'll be coming back to!
Today I was a plump version of you. I ordered my groceries for dinner and now my chicken is in the cast iron pan with the leek strips in my oven. Yea, you, yea me! ❤️
I find I return to Alison Roman's videos more and more for entertainment than culinary betterment. Thoroughly entertained, not tempted to cook the dish.
You’re only as good a cook as how well you can roast a chicken - so I’ve heard - and this looks phenomenal! No surprise there. The leek “bit” was hilarious, just the laugh I needed!
Love Home Movies plus plus all the delicious recipes especially chicken cause it's so versatile. Always thumbs up and I do share with family and friends.
Just ordered both of your cookbooks! So excited to get them soon. I'm loving all your recipes. They turn out great but are not horribly complicated and difficult to make. I appreciate that. Would you ever do a video about your home kitchen must-haves (e.g., pans, pots, appliances, tools, etc.)
Today I learned two things: Ice baths are NOT mandatory and it is possible to love Alison Roman even more 🥰 Thanks for teaching us how to lower our anxiety in the kitchen!!
I love you so very much for making at least one part of every Tuesday great! I really enjoy every single episode. I’m buttering you up of course. Maybe sweetness will get the little door opened.
This chicken was absolute perfection. The leeks were DELICIOUS. I’m so happy to know o can use leek tops! Yum! My only variation was deglazing with white wine. THANK YOU!
Chicken came out perfect! It was my first whole roasted chicken. I made everything like you described including the salsa verde and aioli. For day 2 I made some simple chicken quesadillas with some of your green sauce inside! Day 3 will be chicken salad sandwiches then hopefully I can start my stock! Thanks Alison!
Made this last night sans the asparagus and radish since I didn't have it one hand. Also added a preserved lemon to the salsa verde since I don't like capers. Two bites in my SO exclaimed that, "This is delicious! I feel like I'm eating like a king." This is a winner winner chicken dinner and so easy to put together on a weeknight.
I love how Alison continues to dismiss what seems like frivolous culinary rules. Key takeaways from watching all Home Movies to date: 1. Dark green parts of leeks are edible 2. Roasted chicken skin is okay to not be crispy 3. Ice baths are unnecessary 4. Anchovies are the shit and should be added to everything 5. Ginger does not have to be peeled 6. The ends of garlic cloves don't need to be trimmed 7. Keeping roots or skins on alliums are totes fine Always down for working smarter, not harder. Keep 'em coming!!! #mindblown
I have made everyone of these. I made the one pot chicken last night and then went around with copies to everyone at work today because it was so ridiculously delicious. I guess I'm gonna be having chicken again soon! Love these!
So much for all the information about the garlic I was totally unaware of a few picked really young baby garlic like you could use the whole stem oh my gosh come up with so many great ideas
Omg finally! Someone address the CRISPY SKIN SITUATION!!! Like that roast chicken video they have at Tasty... it’s like they are insanely obsessed with crispy chicken skin.......
How much for another great recipe I always love seeing and hearing all about this now I may even get interested in trying to grow garlic after watching this video hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy another great cooking video and a great tip about the garlic
Hi there! You have been such an inspiration! I have both your books and your Tuesday drops make my week! I'm another Brooklyn gal- can you recommend which farmer's markets you frequent? Thank you so much for all you put out in the world.
