Thanks for the great video. I feel obliged as a Yorkshire man to mention the Yorkshire Pudding, which is not a dessert, it is normally eaten with gravy along with roast meat and vegetables. 👍🏻

My pleasure John! Yes, Yorkshire pudding adds a whole new level of confusion to the “pudding” issue. I’ve had Yorkshire pudding at the pub in Epcot (Disney World), it was pretty good!👍

We brits use the word “pudding” as a generic term for the sweet treat after a main course. We use the word “dessert” as well, but it seems more specifically used in a formal meal setting (it would be used on a menu rather than the word “pudding”). “Puddings” can also be savoury items (steak and kidney pudding - in this case the filling is encased in a sort of pastry made from suet and is sometimes steamed to cook. Of course we have pies (either sweet or savoury) that are encased in pastry). We make a distinction between “biscuit” (rich tea, digestive, ginger nuts etc..) that are short (crispy) throughout and “cookie” which tends to be thicker and a little soft in the middle. Of course there are other differences in our languages (Jelly, Jam, Pencil Erasers, Crisps/Chips/Fries, ….) hence the use of UK English and US English in options in phone apps etc… I am sure these differences have provided lots of amusement over the years for tourists!

Hi Roger! Thanks for the additional information and for giving some context to the vocabulary. Sunni and I enjoy watching the Great British Baking Show and I've seen the bakers make lots of puddings including some of the savory puddings. Yes, I'm sure it's amusing when a brit comes to the southern US and sees "Biscuits and Gravy" on a breakfast menu. 🙂

Pudding here in the uk is the sweet course after the main course. So exactly the same as desert lol. Lovely carve. Thanks for sharing

I appreciate the insights on pudding. I heard someone refer to a “pudding wine”. Here in the States we would call it a desert wine. 🙂 Happy carving!

Great little project (now finished watching the video!). Great idea to use for a tic-tac-toe game. Never tried wood burning, one for my list in the future!

You're very welcome! Unfortunately I recorded this video without my videographer and editor, Sunni. I also recorded using my phone which is old and hence the crappy audio.

Wonderful job. What knife are you using? Scott

Thanks very much Scott! That's a homemade knife. I took a beat up vintage straight razor and made it into a carving knife. It's become my "go to" knife.
