Hey y'all! This brisket turned out so great (and it was so easy), we couldn't wait to share it with you. One tip on the cooler that Tom mentions (from Pitmaster Mark): "Using a cooler makes the brisket keep cooking and will not let the brisket start resting because it is still cooking." Thanks for the tip Mark! We're always learning. :) . For more awesome BBQ tips, check out Mark's channel, M&M BBQ: ru-vid.com/show-UCKnx6ExP_id1_brsr5VZSyg . If I had a use for a portable pellet grill I would definitely get the GMG. Brisket looked great. At 160 I put mine in a pan with a little Aun jus and keeps it super moist and all that juice comes in handy when reheating the brisket to keep it from drying out. Great job on the video.
Pretty sure the perfect Christmas gift for you, Tom, would be a dump truck-load of pellets! 😁 Always appreciate the tips, tricks, and everything you folks share. And thanks for inviting us along for the journey!
You sold me on the grill. I can almost smell the brisket and my mouth is watering. I cook my beans in my electric pressure cooker for 45 minutes. They are cooked all the way but not mushy. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the tip Carol! That confirms what we decided we would try next on bean cook time. We are loving the grill. Here’s our post with full recipes and info on the grill if you’re interested. rvtexasyall.com/cooking/pellet-grill/brisket-beans-coleslaw
Outstanding! We were blessed with this meal in early celebration of Carolyn’s birthday and it was great. The beans could have gone a little longer but flavor was amazing, slaw was perfect, and the brisket has set a new bar, and I eat a lot of brisket here in BBQ world on the gulf coast. Thanks guys. But, and there’s always a but, Carolyn wants me to get the cooker and she wants the insta pot!
Hey Greg! So glad y'all enjoyed everything. We had fun cooking. :) Lucky for you, the Grill and the Instant Pot are on Amazon! LOL Davy Crockett Grill: amzn.to/31INLwp and Instant Pot: amzn.to/2ObeXQC
I purchased a Davy Crockett pellet grill because I have no back yard at all. Thank you for this video, guys. I'm attempting my first brisket today! Y'all are such a sweet couple, howdy from Austin!
Good Morning Y'all ☕️! Well now we know what we're having for dinner tonight ❣️ Headed over to the website now to get Stacie's bean recipe because they looked so tasty 👍🏼. Thanks to Tom's Chuck Wagon for bring us this mouth-watering video! Safe Travels Y'all ☕️
Hey Ben! Still working on the post. Here's the bean recipe: 2.5 cups dry pinto beans 1 smoked ham hock 1/2 yellow onion, chopped 2-3 cloves garlic, chopped 1/2 bunch cilantro, chopped 2 jalapenos, seeded and chopped 1 can diced tomatoes (no salt) 2 cups beef broth water (up to 3 cups based on room) 2t salt 1t cumin 3/4t chili powder 1/2t oregano 1/2t smoked paprika 1/2t pepper
Discovered your channel tonight. I was in search of a portable smoker. Well, I am ordering the GMG Davy Crockett tomorrow. I thank you for your down to earth videos. I am retired and in the process of buying a trailer and live off the grid. I am in Ohio and heading west in a few months. Thank You Again, Maybe we will meet and I will cook dinner. PEACE !
Awesome! So glad we could help. We love our Davy Crockett! Here's the Amazon link for more information: amzn.to/360EVxe . Enjoy your trailer shopping and travels. Hope to see you out there somewhere. Happy Cooking!
Oh man, this is the second time I've suffered through you cooking a brisket. All I can say is... I am sooo hungry for brisket now that I can't stand it! Woo hoo! Happy travels!
I just recently found your channel. Grammy K was just joining you for your trip to SD. I miss hearing her say "Ya'll come back now, ya hear". That brisket looked amazing! Easy to follow steps for the brisket, the coleslaw, and the beans. Thanks for sharing with us. ~Lucy
Talk about "Smell-O-Vision"! There is a reason to pre-soak and short-boil and then rinse your pinto beans before pressure cooking. Best to spend your after meal hours outdoors using your 'direct to pot' method.
Looks like a great dinner. For my cole slaw I do purple and green cabbage a can of crushed pineaple and the juice and a bottle of horseradish. My girl's ate it like candy in the summertimes when they were little
I have to stop watching these cookout videos before summer. I’m darned near starved now as my wife is making homemade pizza dough. But I have some nice beef that I smoked last week so I’m raiding the frig! Love these cooking videos!
I had dental surgery yesterday, watching this video was wrong thang to do! hahaha , delicious brisket, mmmmm. I can only eat jello, and broth for next few days! torture... I really enjoy Tom, Stacey.. keep up the great videos..
Look on the ends of aluminum foil box there are points that you can push in so the role will not come out when pulling it out just a little trick it is not on all boxes . Using a cooler makes the brisket keep cooking and will not let the brisket start resting because it is still cooking. Great video 👍
That looks amazing ! Now I am hungry, I really need to learn to cook. Thanks for sharing your time with us. Always wishing you guys wellness and happiness. Don
I enjoy letting my food rest in the grill while the grill is cooling off then I put the grill back inside then I can have dinner that's the way I've done it and it gives it plenty of cool down time or rest time and it always turns out exactly the same which is absolutely perfect I never wrap it for one I never have the money to spend on foil or butcher's rap so I just do it like like you started I use a different method of seasoning but it all does the same job
Great video. Have you ever tried the Jack Daniels pellets. I love them straight and I like to mix them with different fruit woods. I also discovered red butcher paper this year. I like it better than foil on the smoker because it preserves the bark better than foil. I put foil over the paper when I pull it off the grill before I put it in a cooler to rest. I do that just to keep the towels and cooler clean.
This video was truly helpful! I was hesitant to pull the trigger on the Davy Crockett grill but the brisket made the decision for me. Keep up the great work 🤘 #grilling & #chilling #brisket
Glad you enjoyed it. We have owned our Davy Crockett for a year now and are LOVING it. It is so easy to use and carry with us, and the food is always delicious. We have a few other videos of us using it if you are interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LowbuX_3Id4.html . And if you'd like more information or would like to order one, they are available on Amazon: amzn.to/2xzNxhr .
@@rvamericayall I've been in need of a new smaller smoker / grill and your videos checked all my boxes. This will improve my quarantined life, just placed an order. :)
Saw this video pop up on my phone. I was eager to get home and watch it. Totally enjoyed it!! Love mixing RVing with some good cooking ,. This Grill is so easy to cook with. It has made cooking fun again while enjoying the outdoors. Tom, the brisket looked delicious both juicy and tender. You can’t go wrong with coleslaw and beans for side dishes - Stacie! Haven’t cooked a brisket yet, but it is on the list for our next trip to the mountains. The timing for this youtube was perfect. TOM’s CHUCK WAGON, 👍👍😀👍👍. (What size brisket did you buy? Some people recommend getting a flat. Any recommendations?)
Looks delicious. We have been considering the GMG Davy Crocket but not sure we would smoke anything enuf to make the switch, however, your brisket is tempting...
Hubby now wants a GM! Tips for dried beans in the Instant Pot: cook them seasoned first until tender before adding anything sweet or acidic like brown sugar, vinegar, or tomatoes. Those inhibit the beans from absorbing liquid no matter the length of cooking. Many pots of beans down to figure it out :-D Here’s our basic recipe then we simmer with tomato sauce and/or brown sugar after if we want. Seasoned Beans 1 cup sorted dry pinto & black beans 4 cups water 2 tsp chile powder/garlic/oregano, cumin BEAN/CHILI setting 30-34 mins under pressure 20-30 min NPR Simmer with whatever you like afterwards.
Thanks y'all! Sounds great... we'll give it a try. Here's the link to the Davy Crockett in case y'all want more info: amzn.to/31INLwp . We are LOVING ours!
I really like your videos but I’ve got to ask do you find the Davy Crockett a little bit heavy demand handle and if not how much does it weigh thank you have a great time God bless
Hi Allen. Thanks! The Davy Crockett comes in at just under 60 pounds without pellets. They say the hopper holds 9 pounds of pellets. In our new RV, we put it on a pull out tray in the basement to make it easier to get in and out.
Hey Bob! We went to the local meat market and they cut us an 8.5lb piece off of a larger brisket. 8 - 8.5 is a good size for the Davy Crockett. I still had some room.
great instructional . im getting into smoking this summer your video convinced me to by the davey crockett . i was curious on the total cook time from start to 165 then after wrapped at 165 to 202 degrees . thank you
Hi Jason! In this case, we relied completely on the temperature probe for the cook time. But if I remember correctly, total cook time was somewhere around 5 hours. The Davy Crockett makes it so easy! Of course it will depend on the size of your brisket. If you haven’t bought yet, and you plan to buy online, we’d appreciate you using one of our Amazon links. You pay the same amount, and Amazon sends us a small commission. You can find the link in the description of this video and also in our write-up with the full recipe on our we site: rvtexasyall.com/cooking/pellet-grill/brisket-beans-coleslaw . Thanks for watching and happy smoking!
I really enjoyed this video, I'm almost convinced to buy my own Green Mountain grill! I'm wondering if this video would have been even better minus the background music, food for thought.
Glad you enjoyed it Mary! We're going to be uploading another cooking video soon. For many years we used Lodge leather cooking gloves: amzn.to/2XIcmRj . They did a good job for us for a long time, but finally wore out. Back around the beginning of this year we started using these Mvzawino gloves: amzn.to/2XfEGLF . We love them! They do a fantastic job of blocking the heat and we really like the grip the silicone gives us.
Does the Davy Crockett fit well in the basement of your rig, the smoker seems tall? We have a Phaeton and tall items are troublesome because of the frame rails and the fact that both or our large bays have rollers that impact the height available by a couple inches.
Hi Troy! We chose the Davy Crockett because the storage bays in our Breeze are rather small. We thought we were going to have to tilt the chimney forward to carry it, but it fits like a glove with the chimney in the normal up position. Here are the dimensions with the legs folded for storage according to Green Mountain Grills: 20.5” H x 27.75” W x 17.5” D. Here's a link to the Davy Crockett on Amazon if you'd like to see more information or would like to buy online: amzn.to/3gZqgXW . We also have several other videos cooking with the Davy Crockett if you'd like to see more on our experience: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CHjDxJuo_Pg.html . We love the Davy Crockett. It is easy to carry and easy to cook on.
@@rvamericayall Thanks for the quick response! I believe I have binged all of your Davy videos and I am now working on your travel videos, thanks for all the great content. I have all but decided on a Davy, I might go visit one at the store this afternoon.
Thanks! It was awesome! We’re not as experienced with pork butt, but we love a good pulled pork also. This attempt turned out good: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CHjDxJuo_Pg.html . But we’ve learned a few things since then so we might do another one before too long. 😋
I used to wrap in aluminum foil, but honesty, I have shifted to uncoated butcher paper, and get a better brisket. And, the paper is a lot cheaper, and sturdier than the foil.
Dude I love you and everything you 2 do but what's up with the heat at 202? Lol why not just 200? Rhetorical no need to respond you 2 are awesome . Xxxoooo
My first brisket on my gmg went perfect at 230 degrees so similar range. After 4 hours it was exactly at 160 I wrapped it and after 4 more hours it was exactly at 210. check out my ig blacklung_bbq currently smoking another one thank you for this video
Hey Juan! Thanks for watching. Glad your brisket turned out good too. We love smoking on our GMG. We just followed your IG. Looking forward to watching what you're cooking!
