Usually a mix of spices, some main ones being star anise and sichuan peppercorn. The other 3 you can choose cloves, cinnamon, fennel seeds, dried ginger etc. However, you can usually buy five spice at a bigger grocery store or an asian grocery store grounded and packaged.
Nobody is talking about the actual recipe. So I tried. I put butter instead of oil, chicken powder instead buiyan or whatever. I also put bbq sauce and tomato ketchup on the water. The recipe was truly amazing ❤
