I just came across this video and had to smile because this is the way I am storing my stamp sets that don't come in their own boxes! Great minds think alike! A suggestion to avoid cutting and pasting the labels is to go into Word on your computer and set your new document on landscape and create two columns. Then type in your labels at the top of each column. Print double sided (make sure to have them print so that the labels are always at the top of the page) on card stock and cut in half!
I use these binders to store my embossing folders too. The gray gives just enough contrast so I can see the pattern. I also put a 3/4 length cardstock piece in with the backing cardstock when I have those edge or "strip" embossing folders that sometimes come with the regular size embossing folders. The 3/4 length piece allows me to keep the strips vertical and I can get them out easier when I need them.
Mine are in 2" binders and I did them horizontally for the 4x6 sets, using staples and making little slits along the binder edge (I also have one for the small "dollar" stamps, using the sheet protectors for baseball cards. They're perfect!). For larger sets, I just use a whole page. I use glue dots to secure the back of the plastic sheeting to the cardstock, except for ones that fit nicely into the horizontal pockets I created - just leaving them in their original packaging. I went a step further to get them organized (because I have 10 binders {stamp hoarder! 😆})... every time I add a new stamp/set, I save an image from the internet and I put it into my photo library, using tags for the images and words, plus the name/manufacturer, and I also list the binder it is in (I also write the binder on the insert so I know where to return it). So: when I need a little girl stamp, a background image, or grass or sunshine or "love," I can type that word into my search box and it will show me all of my options and what binders they are in. I love my system and it has worked for close to ten years now! 👏🏼 I used the type of binders with cover openings, so I was able to decorate them and I put paper and each binder's number on the spine... pretty binders are more fun to use! 😁🙌🏼 (oh! I also use the kind of sheet protectors with the flap at the top so they don't fall out. I get them at the office supply stores.)
So MayMay I actually did the binder system with the card stock and was frustrated by them sliding out.... this video really helped me - I can afford to by the stamp and die cut pockets a lot... glad this video was still on you tube... I will surely look at stamp line... again love your energy
I'm new to stamping & building my collection. This is the most economical & practical hobby storage for stamps and my die cuts. Thank you! Can't wait to try your stamps.
This is right up my alley. Just was looking at a couple stamp sets that I purchased at Hobby Lobby and Michael's before I knew you had designed your own, and really did not want to organize them in a container. So, yes love this idea.
I have had mine similar for a few months and I really like it! Found some binders at a thrift store and mod-podged some pretty paper on the front, back, and side. Working great!
I did this to my stamps about a year ago. I bought the cheap binders and then added paper to the front - I tried to match the paper on the outside to the contents of binder -some of them I've glued the paper down, because there's more than one subject in it. This helps me find what I'm looking for without having to go through each binder. This really helps me save time when looking for specific stamps. Good luck with your binder's. Tfs :)
This is awesome idea. Just went to Walmart and got all the supplies. I have stamps that goes with dies. I'm going to put the stamps on one side and the matching dies on the other side. It's going to be great to have them together. I have so many I forget what I have, this is great. Thank you for sharing your ideas, you have so much inspiration.
Love this binder Maymay! I have been doing this for a while now for some of my stamps and some I have on a homemade clip it up that I made from a rotating shoe holder I got from WalMart. One thing I started doing this past year is I got this small binder and same clear protector sheets and just copied the stamps I have and I organize by designer and then I can flip through and find what stamp I want to use. I really like this and has been a big timer saver for me. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!
Finally today! I am not sure exactly what's going on with RU-vid but I was also having trouble with other sites as well. Who knows with technology? Thanks for everything that you do!
I started doing this same thing, and then found your video which gave me even more ideas! Thanks so much. I wanted to get another small binder, but now Walmart seems to have stopped carrying them! Bummer. Still, great idea for storing un,ounted wood-block stamps in very little space!
Hi Maymay ... I have some of my longer sets (like Inkadinkadoo) stored this way as well as my Tim Holtz ... the down side for me is that the binders don't hold many and I have MANY. I use the Avery Elle plastic protectors for all of my others and keep them in the fridge bin like Jennifer Maguire. The down side to that one, is it weighs a 1,000 lbs. because I have so many. I keep my wood stamps in the clear cases by Stampabilities and since I have 30+ cases, I scanned each case and labeled them by number. I have a notebook of the scanned images so I know what case each of my stamps are in so I can access them easily. Wow, I have a lot and I'm blessed to have and enjoy them all. Some would call me a hoarder ... but I've given away far more than I've kept. LOL!! Happy Friday.Jeri
Thats a great idea. I've been hunting for some ways to store my Stampin Up Stamps because those cases they come in take up a ton of room. After you take the stamps out of the rubber sheet, the box is half empty! Jennifer McGuire did a video awhile back on her stamp storage system that reminds me of yours a little bit. She uses "Avery Elle" stamp envelopes. You can slip coordinating dies into the back side of the envelope as another option. She stores her envelopes into "fridge binz" - but I think the size of the AE envelopes changed so not sure if they fit into the same dimensions you can get the fridge binz in now. I think you can get a pack of 25 envelopes for under $10. I ordered a pack on Amazon to see how sturdy they are. Right now I have all my photopolymer stamps hanging up on a Renee "Clip it Up" (another option). I'm really enjoying your videos! Oh, btw, the price you got for your binder was super, they are a lot more expensive at Office Depot, even for the plain white ones! You can get great deals for them on Amazon if you don't mind buying them in sets of 5.
Patrick Takiura I have a clip it up too, I love it but it doesn't fit on my desk. I have to put it sort of out of the way and therefore I tend to not reach for things on it. Thanks for all the great tips!!!
Ha, Maymay, I just came across this as I want to put all my sentiment stamps in one place. I am also going to use acetate sheets to stick my stamps on. I just ordered a binder and protector sheets and the acetate from Amazon. This is exactly what I need. I do have the black embossing folder binders you used to sell on your store front online and use those for all your stamp sets.
I was so excited to see the title of this video in my feed. I am going through my stamps now. I love your binder (I'm very much a black and white girl), unfortunately I have tried this method with a larger page which contained clear and rubber stamps, sad to say it didn't work (probably user error). It was too bulky and the pages drooped because of the rubber stamp weight. I have way too many stamps, I want them in an order of relevance (sentiments, holidays, etc.). I love the neatness of yours, great job!
I think this is a great idea Amy and if I would have so many stamps I would have done it this way too. Still might for some sets. I too use Avery pockets to store my stamps in the way Jennifer McGuire does. But I plan on getting notebooks and just stamping my stamps on the sheet in the notebook so I can flip through it to decided what stamps I want to use if that makes sense.
I use this system for my stamps. Baseball card sheet protectors are perfect for the dollar stamp sets that are sold at most craft stores.(of course, they are 8.5 x11, so a larger binder would be needed)
Hi Maymay, I love this system, it's really working at well. I've switched from avery to the slider zip lock bags, that I purchased at the dollar tree. I did need to trim off bottom the of the bags so that would fit nicely into my binders. Thank you, for sharing your talents and time. I fully enjoy enjoy your videos.
Thank You. I have a lot of stamps just in a drawer. I'm getting the stuff to do this today. Then they'll be right at my finger tips from now on! Your Awesome!!!
Neat! , that is a very good idea, this was the method i used to store my rubber cling stamps until i acumulated 6 albums full then they overwhelmed my shelf space . but thanks for that now i know how im going to store my clear stamps as i . dont have as many of those.
Great idea. I was just thinking the other day that I needed someway to store my stamps (what few I have) so they will be easy accessible. Thanks for another great video.
Well, I think it is an awesome idea. I need to do this. I tried it with a bigger album, but the slide all over the place, so I think I need the smaller size like you have. Going to try your method!
I do this but I use the 8.5 x 11 notebooks and page protectors. I started out with a 3 inch binder and divided my stamps by holiday. I wish I had known about the 5x7 page protectors cause with the 8.5 x 11 the stamps slide ever where....... LOVE YOUR IDEAS!!!!!!
Hi Maymay, I really enjoyed watching your youtube channel, showing how you did your stamp storage system. I am new to youtube but I really like your video. The notebook you used was really very pretty. Great job. Loretta
Great idea May May. I tried it with the larger binder and sleeves, only problem I had was that smaller stamps tend to move around to much in the larger sleeves. At times they even slipped right out. I do like the smaller one you have done though. Maybe I will take a trip to Walmart. TFS Denise
I like this idea. I have my stamps in plastic cases that sell for a couple of dollars but they don't hold that many stamps. Also I am not sure what the brand name is on some of my stamps but they come on a page that is punched to fit in a 3 ring binder. So this would also work for them. Great idea!
I use the package labels like you did or scan it into my computer and print onto my backing sheet. For me, I have to put stamps in alphabetical order (b/c I have so many). Will now look for your products too. Thanks for sharing.
Sarah Longshore I have an idea but I am afraid it will only work for limited work spaces. I am thinking of putting magnets on them and creating a board to stick them to in front of my desk.
I love this storage system I’ve been looking at tons of videos I’ve tried the basket storage but it’s hard to find what I’m looking for and hinders by desire to stamp. Gonna totally do this probably by size since i have different sizes stamp sets Thanks may may🥰
This is the way I use to store my stamps. However, my collection has grown quite a bit over the last 5 years. This no longer works for me. I use the fridge bins and the stamp sleeves (not sure that's the correct name) that Jennifer Mcquire uses. I also store my dies that way as well. If the stamp set has a matching die set then they go in the same sleeve. I separate them by manufacture and then put the stamps /dies in alphabetical order. This works great and they are easy to flip through. I also have a binder catalog (still a work in progress) but, I stamp each set onto white card stock and the place them in the binder in sections. The sections are of course by manufacturer, then I break them down into categories such as, alpha/numeric, Christmas , flowers, sentiments, etc. then I can go through the binder to see what stamps or dies I want to use and then go pull them from the bins.
Our local Walmarts do not carry this size, however, Staples carries the binders (but not with the same design; I picked up a couple that is called "Taj Mahal," and also picked up the protector sheets there as well. (If you are so inclined not to make the tabbed sheets, Staples also carries the divider sheets with tabs.)
I've been thinking about doing this myself. Thanks for the demo! The Frugal Crafter stores her in binders but uses a different kind of insert which I don't like as well but she stores her by theme which I think is a great idea.
I am so doing this!!! Great idea Amy. Love it! Funny how I was thinking of how to store my stamps a week ago and today you have the answer on your channel. And the cover for the binder matches my mat for my desk! I am a Wally World shopper toi.
I am always looking for a good way to store my stamps. I think the smaller binder and pages will hold up better and not sag like the bigger pages do. AND since I will be getting Maymay's stamps every month now.....it's perfect!
Great video! I like the idea of your fast-drying glue. Checked your web page and it says it will "dry clear". Does it dry shiny? That's what I don't like about the clear glue I'm using now...if it peaks out past what I'm gluing down, it will dry clear...BUT...it will be shiny and more noticeable. Thanks for your help!
Hi I keep my stamps in folders but I keep the stamps in zip lock bags (plastic) . Enjoy watching you do your videos and card making thank you for taking the time to entertain us.
I do this with my embossing folders and with magnetic sheets for my dies. I switched to a full size binder for dies so I can keep my Sizzix flip dies on the same binder with all my other dies.
This is so cool!! Now I have to go get that EXACT binder for my Maymay stamps...haha!!! Sooo cool....., I LOVE organizational vids...so I was so excited to see this. Great idea....thank you! Have a wonderful weekend!! Hugs! Becca
Hi MayMay, This is exactly like the Anna Griffin Stamp Storage System on HSN. Same Damask cover and hot pink interior. The AG binder is bigger. Please be sure to put a disclaimer because her products/patterns are copyrighted. I can tell you that your system is a whole lot cheaper for sure, like 75% cheaper than hers. However, they look exactly the same. Thanks for sharing. Kathy B. (Fairylady0227) 💜
I use a similar system for my stamps, but really like yours better. I've been looking for a tab punch as you showed at the end of this video. Can you suggest where to find one like it? Thanks!
Oh, diggin this one. I bought those clear stamp boxes online to hold my stampin up stamps. So wish there was a way to toss the wood blocks and still use the stamps, would save so much room. I will totally have to do this for my clear babies, how many do you think the binder will hold? Maybe 30 sets huh?
@@TheScrappyBookworm1 I went to Walmart to get some and they seemed pretty pricey but I was going to just bite the bullet and get them anyways and then as I was just roaming around looking through their craft section, I found these. They were 2 in a package and they were only 1.97 per package. :) oopppssss can't post a picture but they are GO Create Adhesive Magnetic Sheets. They are 5x8in. :)
This is a great idea and I'm going to borrow it from you. Do you have any suggestions for dies? I don't have any electronic cutting machines so I have the problem of physically storing them myself.
What kind of dies? Wafer? Slimline? Plastic Backed? Standard? I use many different storage systems for my dies as even the same style die may have various sizes and one must maximize every precious cubic inch . I have too many ~ lol Like with tiny and the old QK 2x2 wafer dies, i use coin collecting binder pages & the 4" binders. I have 2.5 of those binders jammed. Very heavy. For the small plastic backed (sizzlits), i use baseball card collecting pages & 4" binders. I have 6 full binders & 2 partials. I keep in numerical order and make an inventory list in excel (any document creation will be fine). My medium sizzlits, the brown boxes sizzix used to sell, 6 full; you might find used ones online. For my slimline (original, bigz, etc), i reuse usps boxes and white office boxes (way cheaper in the 90s). My standard dies (accucut & ellison), i use new white storage file boxes - expensive, but cheaper & more compact than accucut wire rack system. For my bigz pro, i use the white office file boxes here to, but not in a normal way, just as guides to keep them from falling over. Stamp die combos, not yet organized. Sorry. Embossing folders, card keepers & some w/ the matching dies. One of these days, i will rerelease an Access database I created for crafters. I just have not had the chance to update it for modern users. Happy crafting!!
This is great need to do this because mine are not n iris 👠 size 📦 and it's not working because I don't use them. Kinda out sight out of mind then I buy duplicates frowns. So thank you for sharing smiles ..
That's a great idea. I'm off to Wlallies to find a binder and sheets. Question where did you get the tip you use for your glue I love it. Please tell me where you got it/ Thanks Marty
Great storage idea. And I love that you've got a stamp set coming out next month. I've not heard of Bees Knees. I'm super excited to see what all it has. And I'm really looking forward to when you release Critter Christmas again. I've been wanting that one forever :)
Hi Sarah Longshore, I store my wooden block stamps and ink pads, in acrylic box frames. I use them like trays. Hope this is help full, have a completely awesome day
I cannot get to play... I can watch your other videos and really need to see this one😏! I am desperate for tips on storing my stamps! What do you think I am doing wrong?
I tried that system. The biggest problem I had was that my page protectors did not have 3-holes punched. So I had to punch extra holes. I also spent too much money on my binders. I learned that it is important to cut a piece heavy card stock or the pages were too floppy. I also had some rubber stamps, that they were fat and made things worse. I think this could work well the way May May did it. I would also mention there are differences in page protectors and pretty flimsy. Get the better ones. Another suggestion would be to take pictures so you h=can remember what you have and not buy duplicates.
Great storage idea. Sorry sweetie. I can't find anything wrong with this idea. I just started with stamps but I love to be organized. I'll be assembling one of these for myself. Thanks for sharing.
