My version of Tempe Bacem (Braised Tempe) , savoury and crispy !
Batch food prep is the kinda thing I do especially when Ramadhan is nearing !
The usual recipe calls for soy sauce in the marinade however I didnt use any reason being , I don’t want the fried Tempe to turn dark prematurely while frying , before the Tempe gets crispy ….
You need enough oil to fry the Tempe at low to medium flame to get that golden brown results where it will crisp on the outside and tender on the inside .
** If coconut water is available, using it instead of plain water will improve the flavour significantly, but otherwise it's still delicious!
Always serve while it’s hot and crispy !
I can eat a full plate of tempe without rice !
