I put bar height counter on my island. I just don’t want to see kitchen clutter from my open concept living room. I know it’s not on trend but it is functional for me. I added some beautiful barstools and pendant lights and it looks amazing. As a bonus, it’s perfect for a standing desk when I’m tired of sitting. I also love ikea styling and this has been such an informative video!
I love this! Our island is also open to our living room and while I've entertained the idea that counter height is more "on trend" what you just said convinced me it's just fine as is. Thank you!
I cut my breakfast bar from 10” higher than counter to 5” higher, and cut stool legs down too, love hiding sink mess and seeing over DR table to patio window
I like the bar height for that reason as well, though I do like bar stools, and it’s really common in apts. It’s also why I am not a fan of open concept.
This is what sets you apart from the other design channels and proves you create your content from experience. Much better than the others whose design tips are nothing more than “buy a vase, pop in some faux greenery and place it on top of a coffee table book”. Thank you for the video!

This video was so on point for me, I loved how you showed smaller rooms decorated without looking too cluttered, the best one I loved the most was adding hanging space to a bedroom and utilising curtains to hide what’s behind, I may try and talk my hubby into this idea for one of our bedrooms to give me more hanging space for my clothes, I don’t have a walk-in closet and find that I don’t have much hanging space in there for all my seasonal clothes, most times I have to store them away in suitcases ready for that season to come around again but I also do a de clutter at the same time just to make space, over this time, I’ve donated pieces of clothing that I wished I hadn’t 😢, but basically had to for the lack of space I have, you’ve given me some great ideas in this video Valentina, it’s a Public Holiday here in Australia 🇦🇺 today, the perfect time for me to rearrange some of my clothes and other things I’ve got stored away. I love your reminder of keeping life in a space, it seems to help keep design more approachable. At least it does for me. In our bedroom our 2 closets are separate with the bathroom door that we can also access from the hall so I changed the bed around and put a lovely big chest of drawers in the middle of the closets in front of the door and it has given us so much more space.thank you for the wonderful tip's and tricks ❤️

I’ve been following for a few years. This is one of my favorite videos! Please do more! I liked the kitchen aesthetic the most but think the tips you shared for bedroom pic were the most useful for me.
It’s the geometry. Mixing modern with selected vintage. Your selections are all sharing a simple line or shape and it looks great together. As a much older Atlanta designer, I’m thrilled to see Atlanta and the South moving forward to these clean lines vs camel back sofas, wing back chairs, butler tray tables and orientalist rugs! 😂😂😂. So stale. But the clean lines and geometry - I love so much.
I told you over a year ago that I asked for the addition of a high bar onto my existing counter and that my contractor said no one does that. And you said it was because its outdated! Im glad i didn’t listen to either of you😂
My daughter has a high bar over her island. They are both on wheels, so the bar can cover much of the island or be pulled back to eat at. And it shields the kitchen from the dining area

Even though the trend is going away from the open plan, I still like mine because everyone hangs out in the kitchen . I like that I have a great room. I do have a separate dining/library room though. Also have a separate office . I just no longer have a formal living room …..it only got used at Christmas and when I read my Victoria magazine. 😂
I really liked the video today. So many great tips and tricks. I'm trying to add more baskets and shelves to "hide in plain sight" all the things. Also each time I replace a piece of furniture I think "what would Valentina get"! 😆
I love this type of video. Can you please do one just for bedrooms. Especially, kids bedrooms of all ages. I see everyone focusing on the kitchen, living room, or maybe the master bedroom. But very few on kids bedrooms or bathrooms. Or do a series where you focus and do a deep dive on one type of room at time.

What's interesting to note from this information is that we shouldn't follow the latest "trend". When we look at these various spaces they aren't all cookie cutter. They're unique in their own way and simply designed well.

That curtain thing behind the bed is so smart. I look at the smallest cottage ever, and think it's so cute that I maybe want us to buy it for a summer house. But it has only one slim but long bedroom and I could not fint out how it would even work as a room or look cute. But that's really smart! Love all your videos! Thank you Valentina!
Great video. The interiors were lightly softened. My favourite was the bedroom. The light in the robe was beautifully. The curtain fabric was an additional soft look, too.😀
I never thought about it, but I do love the lives in clutter in Ikea styling and I do it in my apartment. There is something aesthetically pleasing about minimalist or ultra clean spaces, but it’s not realistic to my lifestyle. I want things I use everyday out or east to access. I also like collecting knickknacks. If the style can’t tolerate a little clutter it’s not a good style for me.
I love the mix of textures! It allows me to change things up on a whim. I also appreciate the example with the higher kitchen bar. I have something similar I'm trying to work through. Valentina, your videos help me to rethink my spaces and also to have fun updating them. BTW, love your hair! ♡
Love this video concept for sure - often I love a space at IKEA and I really can't pinpoint why.. this helps Also - we have a bar height counter between our kitchen and Dinning room and I wouldn't change it; it's nice to use as a buffet area when entertaining

Excellent video. Really like this format. I loved all three rooms but especially the kitchen. I also really liked the bedroom color scheme as these are the colors I love to wear together. Very useful information as I think I have fallen into the "only these things belong in this room" constraint. Might be some room makeovers in store.😀 Btw, I also love stuff.
I have that bar in my apartment, but not by choice. I had a counter height island in my home before and I really love that look the most. It just makes the space look larger and also gives you a much larger working space.
