Please wet your hands before handling trout and consider using a landing net. True that these trout are stocked. However, half of the stocking is from private donations. Please be respectful of this unique Alabama fishery.

Are they really from private donations? I was unaware of that... I dont recall Alabama wildlife mentioning that. Anyway, I have trout fishing content after this video and did mention there about wetting hands.

I fished Sipsey Fork earlier this year. There were about a dozen fishermen with both spinning and fly rods and we ALL got skunked. Nothing was biting. Kinda sucked.

We went 2 weeks ago and did not have near the luck. There was a guided fly tour that went by us that got skunked and we only caught 3 in several hours. They can be picky about when they start biting. No lie we had 15 or so trout following a lure at one time and none would take it.

I returned this year and tried my luck again. I had much better luck. I caught double my daily limit in about 2 hours. It was a great trip.

Yes, make sure you have an Alabama fishing license. The last time I was there the game warden was checked people for them.

Spinning reel trout fishing is not trout fishing. Spinning reels are for those who can’t fly rod fish. For those who want to use treble hooks and catch a trout the untended way. Trout fishing is a legacy. Bass fishing is nothing with no tradition behind it. Trout are different. Trout should be caught on a fly rod. Tradition says so. Any trout fisherman that uses a spinning rod is not a trout fisherman. My opinion only.

There's always some "holier than thou" fly fisherman giving people who enjoy fishing in general a hard time trying to put someone down for catching a fish. Nobody cares if you fly fish. We get it, you're cool. Its a fish. There's a reason people associate fly fishermen with hipsters who only drink IPAs and drive subarus. Humble yourself.
