This video will show you an easy way to install a security camera on a vinyl soffit. If you have ever tried to hang a camera or anything from the vinyl soffit, you will know that it is a challenge. This quick little tip works so great that I will be doing this for every one I put up from now on. It is rock solid and the security camera isn't going anywhere. I wish I could take credit for this idea but I found it from a quick search on another video on RU-vid. Here is the link from where I got the idea • Installing security ca... . Originally I installed mine by cutting a hole and installing a cut in drywall ring. Then mounting the bracket to a wall plate and screwing that to the drywall ring. It worked ok but nad I never had one fall, it just wasn't sturdy like this method. This is less intrusive as you only drill a little hole for the wire to pass through. Works great and is very sturdy.

Mr. CB I have fell through before and I can tell ya, it is not fun haha. Thanks for watching. I already had your video up on my screen and have been watching it in between calls today haha. Been a busy Monday so hadn't go much watching done so far! Have a great week to you and Mrs. Rene! Btw, I go one of those little aerogardens coming. I am super excited about it. I wanted something that looked decent to set out on my counters to grow herbs in.

Thank you, this helped me a lot. I was able to make a similar piece to mount my camera out of plastic on my 3D printer and size it to fit perfectly. Thanks again.

Wow that’s awesome. I need to look into getting a 3d printer. How does the material hold up? Is it sturdy? Do that make different vary strengths of material?

I'd recommend getting a cheap POE switch - it'll eliminate the need for all those injectors in your structured wiring panel. Netgear makes numerous affordable versions. Great way to mount to the soffit!
@EarlybirdFarmSC
@EarlybirdFarmSC 2 года назад
Thanks! Yeah I only have two plugged up in my panel. The rest are plugged up in various outlets around the house. I had thought about going with a POE. Switch but then I would have to run long runs of cat5 back to the POE switch from each camera.

Man when I worked in the field installing alarms, cardboard box was my best friend lol. You don’t have much to work with as far as a surface to use. I can’t tell ya how many times I used this and it holds the piece for you. Pretty much like a sacrificial board.

Where did you find the flat aluminum ?
@EarlybirdFarmSC
@EarlybirdFarmSC Год назад
I bought it at Home Depot. They have a small section of various metals. M sure other big box stores carry it as well.
@johnsonvender1067
@johnsonvender1067 3 года назад
Hi! Great tip! Got 2 newbie questions: 1. What did you use to cut the aluminum with? 2. Were the screws you used to mount the base to the aluminum come from the camera package? Or did you purchase them separately? Thanks for the reply!
@EarlybirdFarmSC
@EarlybirdFarmSC 3 года назад
Aluminum is a soft light metal. I used a jig saw with a metal blade. You could use a hack saw though. It’s very easy to cut. The screws I used are called tek screws. I bought them separately at Hone depot. Most hardware stores carry them. They are self tapping pan head tek screws. They drill their own hole and are made for metal only. I hope that helps.

Where did you get the aluminum metal? Would a sheet of metal roofing cut to size work or did you use something else? Thanks for the video. Your way seems so much easier than what I was about to attempt.

My attic is all covered with plywood lol there’s no crawling around. The original owner made sure it wouldn’t loose heat
@EarlybirdFarmSC
@EarlybirdFarmSC 3 года назад
Oh wow. Well I guess you have a lot of storage space haha. So you mean the ceiling joist and the floor joist both have Plywood on them? If you can access the eves, or take the section of vinyl off the eve then you could drill a hole through the plywood and run your wire like that.
@lennydonofrio2849

Should have screwed it into the wood rafter under the eave
@EarlybirdFarmSC
@EarlybirdFarmSC 2 года назад
The roof rafter is a few inches above the siding soffit so if you screw into it, it will Jack your soffit up. The higher your roof pitch is, the more of an angle the rafters are. Mine are on a 12 on 12 pitch. They are also spaced out 16 inches apart. This option makes it sturdier than than plus your not putting more holes in your soffit.
