By that logic you can just mask up and not even worry about the cameras or just bash and destroy them. Nothing is 100%

I've been watching you for so long. you are seriously the best RU-vidr for camera and doorbells and other tech gear. I have a recessed box and Reolink 822 will not mount directly to a standard box. I simply do not understand why Reolink would not allow their cameras to mount directly to a standard exterior box. its quite silly. However, with your method here, I can mount the Reolink to my existing box. thank you!

Wow! This is one of the most helpful videos I have ever seen! The camera installation looks very professional and using the weatherproof box is an outstanding idea. I have two outlets outside of my house and have been wondering how to extend power to a ptz camera while making it look professional. Would love to see any ideas you might have to get a camera closer to the street to better pick up license plates or the faces of package thieves. This was a great present to all of your fans. Thank you and again, Happy Holidays to you and yours. Paul

This is a great video. I have a Tonton ptz IP exterior camera that has the same challenges plus I have double brick for my exterior wall. I want to install on a second floor wall and might follow this process except that I will drill a hole through the box into the room to access interior power. Then I can seal with caulking and apply a cable plate to the inside wall. This way I have full access to the three cable ends for ethernet, power, and the reset button. Thanks for posting this helpful tutorial!

Thanks for the link to that power strip box. I ended up using a 35w 5v LED driver to power some of my Wyze V3s and despite my best efforts to keep the connections dry the GFCI has tripped a couple times due to moisture ingress. A little bigger than I need but I think it should fit under the patio door steps.

I've not had some good luck with plastic junction boxes especially if they are exposed to direct sunlight. The plastic tends to get brittle and the plastic tabs where you screw it into the wall will break so that it just falls off and the wires running into the wall are exposed as well as the camera just hanging on for dear life. So maybe it would be better to use a metal junction box and drill holes in it. The power strip case is pretty cool I could use that though my outdoor plugs need to be upgraded to have a door that covers it rather than just the covers that cover each outlet which only allows them to be used when the weather is good and to be covered when not in use and the weather is bad.

for people who have wifi cameras with dc power cable but limited with outdoor outlets and have to run long wires to the nearest or only outlet there is, do you have a video on what kind of extension cable or gauge is safe to run in the attic? If we want to hide wires, run the wires through the attic and down pass thru the attic to the powerstrip or outlet to plug the camera power adapter, how would we go about it? The reolink power cable and adapter that came with the camera only runs a couple of meters. If we needed to run wires approximately 100-200 ft on or around the house, how do we go about this? Do we just run cable exposed on the wall around the house? Do they even have extension cable that long? If we run it in the attic what kind is safe to use with no to minimal voltage drop?

I live in a neighborhood that has a HOA (Home Owners Association) that does not allow exposed security camera’s (not under an eave/cover) including camera’s attached using gutter mounts (because they are exposed, aesthetics!). Is there a U-Shaped gutter mount that allows the security camera to be hidden under the gutters? Any ideas on how to hide the security camera by the rain gutters would be appreciated!

Crazy question but I bet you have the answer: I have a bunch of 12v CCTV cameras that I want to replace with Ring cameras. The 12V is wiring perfectly done but the Rings run on 120V. How can I get the Rings to run on 12V? Otherwise I will have to use the RIng solar panel or run new 120V wiring. Ughh.

I’m not really sure about Ring because they are 5 volts..other brands like the Reolink’s or the EZVIZ are powered by 12 volts.

Hi Lifehackster just a quick question plz. I have a modem/router all in one for fibre cable installed which all wifi devices in my home use. I've just purchased the Reolink E1 outdoor camera. Will it be OK to run my E1 camera through this like all other wifi devices in my home do. Also do you recommend using the ethernet cable to set up my camera for setting it up then unplugging the ethernet cable when it's installed on the system it's password protected or do you recommend a different way...I'd be extremely grateful for any advice. Thank you so much my friend.👍👌💯🇬🇧
@blkmacster
@blkmacster Год назад
Bro, no just no. Short answer the plastic cover is not made for mounting cameras. eventually it will fail, get the Reolink junction boxes or screw the cameras into wood or metal supports. The Reolink junction boxes are worth the money and they are made for mounting cameras and terminating the Ethernet cable. BTW, I purchased the same PVC junction boxes and was going to do what you suggest here, then changed my mind. But a person can mount their camera like they want. I can show you pictures of my install just so that you know I'm not some internet know it all. BTW, thanks for all your info. I set the Reolink doorbell status night light to off. It attracts less attention that way.
@LifeHackster
@LifeHackster Год назад
I have this cover setup in my front garage area in under the eaves install for more than a year now..with RLC-811A (bigger bullet cam of Reolink) and no issues…so I’m not sure if you have experience with this junction box cover… it is thick enough to hold any screws..
