I cross reference as well. I also go to my son's study bible for more explanation of I have questions or don't completely comprehend. I may use my Bible app for a commentary too. I don't stop until I have the a comfortable understanding . I then write out the complete chapter in my Bible journal with the added explanation. This help it stick in my mind better plus I can always go back and re-read when I want to refresh my memory. It does take awhile. Sometimes I even look up words just to get the complete definition. I'm sure this video will help alot of people get started doing this. 👍😁
That's the sole purpose. That they start now... the more you read & study the easier it will get and the more comfortable you will get and then you will be able to listen for God's Voice when He is guiding you✍📖🦋⚘🌱🧎♀️🙏✝️

2:48 So true I try to follow a color-coded pen study method; which involves six colors and I could not figure out which one to use ! I’m just gonna grab a pen for anything so I’m just gonna read what God put in front of me.

@@sandyshore5082 I'm sure this sister in Christ was not truly trying to offend or be disrespectful in any way our Heavenly Father.. I too use O-M-# but not like most I say "Oh My Goodness" in almost all of my videos. There are people (CHRISTIANS) who are still following the ways of the world and will still use O## as you have suggested here sister Sandy. This is why I can also agree with every word you have said. I've watched Christians channels here on RU-vid and they will openly say and use this word freely upon many others disrespectful words. I'm so suprised how many Christians will just over look it as if they did nothing wrong. When I hear it... it saddens my very soul I refuse to ever watch them again. I believe as influencers or anyone who has others watching them it's their responsibility to watch every single thing they say and their actions because they hold the (power to influence) over others to follow their led. And if they are not careful God will hold them accountable for every soul they mislead. Because they know better.

Hey, I use the reference in my Bible for reading, but never thought about writing out the references in a notebook like a word study. I need to do more writing of things that I read, and like you said in a notebook or journal. I find so many slips of paper with notes that I started studying all around my house. I need to begin to keep them all in one place, so I can see when I have completed a study. To often I start, but not finish that study because I have them written on pieces of paper all over the place. I love the spiral verse writing. Hi Cat, Like always, thank you for sharing and love the circle to write scriptures. Since I can remember, I used to mark my bible and add a note here in there. A few years back, I made the decision to study the bible with purpose, but I didn't know how to start. So one day, I searched in the Pinterest how to study the bible or something similar, and I found a pin recommending the best books to study the bible and came across to Living by Book by Howard C. Hendricks and William D. Hendricks. This book opened my eyes. It was like a blindfold fell of my eyes. But, I read it, and I thought I was going to start studying the bible right away. No, it took me about another six to eight months to start my bible study and bible journaling. The book teaches how to really study the bible; some of the chapters are the value of observation, look for things that are emphasized, repeated, interpretation, and application. I highly recommend this book, and there is a workbook too, both highly recommended. Also, I use the five W and H, the five W are who, what, when, where, and why, and the H is for how. I use these whether studying a book of the event of a bible event like the flood: I take notes, write down questions, and my observations. I read commentaries, look at maps from that time, etc. My hope is that somebody can buy the book and learn a thing or two from this book. Sorry for the lengthy post.

Great tips as always sis! Thanks, you've inspired me to go back to chain scripture writing and I had a lovely afternoon just doing this over the subject "fear of the Lord" and I was amazed at how time flew esp sitting outside in the sun. Oh, what a glorious way to spend time with our Lord! Love you to pieces sis, you always have such amazing tips to keep bible study always fresh and interesting. And I love those circle scriptures (you know we will want to watch you do that!! )
oh and ps...in the Orthodox bible you have sis, there are good prayers for morning and evening at the back as well, as well as bible verses to read each day depending on where we are in the liturgical calendar :)

I loved this video! I totally relate to you when you were talking about the color systems and how we can get too caught up in using the right colors. I have fallen into that before and I definitely lose sight of the Word because I’m to focused on which sentence gets highlighted which color 😂

@Cat woods - I really enjoyed this! Psalm 5 was a perfect choice for today. It led me to look at both Psalm 4 & 5 in the CSB Version. Glad you had your KJV out because I was doing a comparative as you went through this video. Big difference in the Translations - especially when you go back and forth between Psalm 4 & 5. Loved the chain references and the way you lay your Bibles out to do the Study. I used to do all Bible Study going through each chain years ago. Makes a HUGE difference in what you get out of your Bible Study - especially if you stay focused. 🌺 P.S. - Of course the spiral writing is a great creative BONUS! ✍️🌴

I do journaling in my Bibles too, not all, but some of them. Not doing it consistently is my problem, and wish to set aside time each day to do them, or have some kind of schedule. Getting there, slowly.

I love this! I never knew what to do with references. So quick question does the reference on a scripture ever end or does it just keep going and going? When do you stop?
Or course it will end. You will find that sometimes there reference will just keep going and others may be really short. You will know it ends when there are no more references to follow or it takes you back to the first one

So, to make sure I am understanding this. When there is more then one reference to a scripture you start with the first reference and take it as far as you can go with it. Then go back and do each reference separately?
@@catwoods5499 I am trying it.. But after getting so far I'm not sure it's making since. I started with the same scripture you had except in a different bible translation. I will keep trying it.
When it comes to references... this means the verses that are following will only be referencing the original verse. Or it may even be word for word the same. That's why you see what other words that have references in them that you want to follow. Hope this makes sense.

Cat, thanks for sharing your bible study tips. It was very helpful and it help me out a lot. I really like writing the scriptures in a circle as well. Also, can you share what type of notebook you are using? I’ve been trying to find a notebook that size for my note taking and do to my verse mapping as well. ✨💖

@@catwoods5499 I'm just interested in what type of church you go to. I don't know many Christians who are as invested in their Bible as you and so through your studying I would like to know what denomination you feel is most in line with your reading of scripture if you're even a part of one
@Biscuit Cake & @Cat woods - I was just scrolling through the comments and thought what an interesting question that Biscuit Cake asked. It stuck out because I just came off another Bible Study where the topic of different denominations came up. IN ESSENCE, they are ALL the same, especially when it comes to studying the Bible. People are all different - look at it that way. 🌺🌴
I totally agree with you sis and this is why I never answer this question. I believe those names are just another man made thought to keep us apart and feeling like we're better than someone else. Which in my opinion is the complete opposite of what Jesus says in the Bible. We are to fellowship even with the sinners not only with like minded people but unfortunately so many have lost that art. 😔🙏
