I had yoghurt that was about to expire, I don't like to waste so I decided to make this cake. I only had 330g vanilla yoghurt and no cornstarch. Because the yoghurt was already sweet I reduced the sugar amount, instead of 70g I added 50g. I substitute corn starch with flour and doubled the amount. Instead of 40g cornstarch I used 80g flour. Also I added 1/4 tsp cream of tartar to egg whites, it helps stabilize whipped egg whites. Also I recommend to use room temperature eggs. And don't open the oven until it's golden brown. 4 eggs 1/4 tsp cream of tartar (added with egg whites when getting mixed) 50g sugar 330g vanilla yoghurt 80g flour 1/2 tsp baking powder 1tsp vanilla extract I baked it at 350F for 45 min. The cake turned out fluffy and moist, almost like a cheesecake. Next time I would maybe add just a little more sugar. Thank you for a great recipe!
This turned out perfect! I did double quantity and baked both the two cakes at 175C for 42 mins in a 6” and 7” tin. I should have done two 7” tins because I had a few tablespoons left over that I couldn’t fit in. Hubby loves it! Thanks CooksterMom for this very quick and easy recipe!
Thank you for the recipe, it was really easy. I made this and it was really delicious ! Tip : Eat it cold after refrigeration. Taste amazing this way. The texture is more like a creamy flan or cheesecake type product. Going to make another one soon, yum yum.
Try adding about an inch of hot water to a deep pan and place the cake pan in it when baking. It will help prevent cracking and will cook more evenly. If using a spring form pan, make sure you cover the outside of it with tinfoil, to avoid water getting into the cake.
@@cookstermom I made this cake today but I had a problem .The cake went down after 40 minutes of backing..although I didn't open the oven. What may happened? Please reply
@@nazmiezyferi554 So sorry to hear that ( I think you didn't beat the eggs enough or maybe overmix the cornstarch with eggs ( The batter should be fluffy after you mix all the ingredients ❤
1. Separate egg whites and yolk 2. Beat egg whites until stiff 3. Mix egg yolk, sugar, vanilla sugar and beat until pale 4. Add yogurt and mix until combined 5. Add cornstarch and baking powder. Mix well 6. Add egg whites and mix in with spatula 7. Bake at 175 celsius about 40 min
@@kidsfun2491 better to bake the cake on lower heat such 300F for 30 to minutes then turn down the heat to 250 n bake further 20 to 25 minutes until the skewer comes out cleaned. Try it next time. 😊
Even after reading the comments I was unsure if I should try the recipe. Since I have all the ingredients I tried the recipe out. After cooling, I let the cake chill for 3hrs. The cake tastes kind of like a lighter cheesecake! I would recommend trying this recipe out.
Wow! Thank you for this recipe. I tried it and it came out very fluffy and tasty...I actually mixed both all purpose flour and corn flour...though my mix wasn't thick like yours it came out fine....and also I added warm water into the baking tray that had the cake mix, by doing that I didn't have any burns underneath, it kind of just steamed...but the top was well browned. Will surely keep this recipe...it is quite easy. Thank you
Ive made it this twice , first time i thought id done something wrong. I tried it again step by step. This is good if you want to get rid of yogurt its perfect for that. Serve it with fruit. Actually i just had this with fresh cream and it was lovely.
Made it today, just added a bit of coconut sugar instead of a regular sugar, also added some sautéed in tiny bit of butter and a bit of coconut sugar apples. Its very tasty, fast and easy!!! Thank you!👌🏻😋👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The cake show in the pan when it came out if the oven is confusing, as it looks like all broken up, yet the one on the finish picture looks great. I am anxious to try this and just love your other recipes 😋❤️
I baked it at 176C for 45 minutes and it turned golden brown. It looked fantastic in the oven but collapsed once I took it out. It still tasted beautiful and next time I will bake it for 60min, hopefully it will maintain its shape.
I have 2 yogurt tubs that aren't going to be used, a bunch of bananas that are going soft, eggs and half a bag of flour which is going old. I'm going to try this recipe as I always avoid throwing food away.
You baked the cake with the high temperature, that’s why the cake doesn’t look good, I just baked the yogurt cake look so beauty ang taste so good with the temperature 300F in 45 minutes and turn down at 270 bake 25minutes more
I used flour instead of cornstarch and I added 1 teaspoon of cornstarch. I didn’t want it to taste starchy. It’s in the oven right now and so far it smells delicious!
@@cookstermom Thanks for responding! I taste the cornstarch in recipes for creams, which is why I'm wary. But I'll try it your way! Question: can I add blueberries to the batter? Or lay them on top?
I just maked it! The taste is a little vinegary and I only put 250 grams of yogurt instead of 350, and thankfully, otherwise it would be even more vinegary. But I like it, it is very soft, very fluffy. but the next one instead of yogurt I will go for mascarpone. Thank you, it is a good and easy cake.
Hello CooksterMon, thank you for your recipe!! I've just made mine and it was golden brown. Waiting for it to cool down and will post another comment to let you know about the taste!! It smells really nice!!🤗🤗

People are saying the cake that is out of the oven is different from the cake that is cut, it could be that the cake is turned upside down to give a more even top?
Thank you very much. Easy and tasty. I only toped it with some fresh fruits. I have a slight problem , though. After backing it, some liquid came out. Why is that?
Absolutely beautiful. Light and fluffy with a taste you can add anything you fancy to accompany this magnificent cake. I added flaked almonds ontop during baking because I didn’t have fine sugar. I had a piece just plain a piece with stewed peaches and a piece with cinnamon and maple syrup! This flourless dessert is the Bomb. I’m so happy I made it and I thank you very much. Now to go for a jog 😜 10 out of 10. Thank you from Australia 🇦🇺
I'm so, so glad you like it!🤗 It's awesome that you added your own twist to it. This cake is open to many different, creative, and tasty ideas which makes it perfect to fit to everyone's taste.❤
