I call myself a huge fan of the Easybeats... yet I've only just heard this song for the first time and I ended up with tears streaming down my cheeks... wow... this is an incredible, incredible song ❤️. RIP Stevie and George.
I'd never even heard of them, heard a bit of this song on the pub jukebox last night, found the name of band and song and have just now listened to it properly for the first time. Gorgeous melody, lovely musical texture, great singing. It is superb!
I couldn’t figure how I’d heard this somewhere....long ago, but after some checking, finally got it. Bobby Sherman had this lovely song on an album I had back in 1971! What a blast from the past and to find out Vanda n Young wrote it almost fifty years ago!
@@gerardusch Dick Diamonde emigrated from Holland to Australia with his family in the early 1950s. Born Dingeman Adriaan Henry van der Sluijs. Founding member of the Easybeats. Born in Hilversum. Harry Vanda born Johannes Hendrikus Jacob van den Berg born 1946 in Voorburg.
I don't think this was a 45 in the US. It was Jennifer's Friends who had the single in North America. That being said, it was on the Falling Off The Edge Of The World album here, which is essentially a variation of Vigil.
Like so many Easybeats songs I love, some drop dead gorgeous parts mixed in with some corn and cheese...it's a pity but that was the way. they figured they had to sell, so they added the corn. Still that start is awesome...they usually are.
