Eating at Dickey's Barbecue Pit in The Villages, FL | Restaurants in The Villages | No Ice Cream 

You were about 1 minute from my house. We have never gone there only to Oakwood it's the best!

Mission BBQ (there’s one on 441 near The Villages) is my favorite counter service BBQ. Their mac & cheese is fantastic! I love the chopped brisket too. If you happen to be there at 12 noon, everybody stops and stands as they play the National Anthem.

I agree that Oakwood is very good. In Ocala you should try Southern Pig and Cattle Co. There are 2 locations. They have ice cream and it is never broken!

We live a 10 minute golf car ride from there & never heard of a Dickeys so we tried it last month. It was awful. I didn’t even know they had ice cream so I’m guessing it never works. We were extremely disappointed. Our meat was very fatty too & we said we would NEVER go back there. Wish we would have waited until you reviewed it to check it out. On a scale of 1-10, it gets a 1 from us. Everyone talks about Oakwood & says it’s good so we will check that one out sometime. Thanks for your reviews.

Suggest you try Big Lee’s Serious about barbecue food truck in Ocala Florida, check his website for locations and hours. His smokers and main food truck is in midtown Ocala.

Glad to find your channel! Thanks for the video. You made me remember they had an ice cream machine! It never worked any time I was there anyway. LOL A few years back when I lived in NC (so this isn't relevant to the present really), there was a Dickey's right next store to me so I went all the time (was so sad when it closed!). Mine was actually a pretty big space and they had pretty good Sweet Tea. This one looks tiny! I guess maybe because mine was a corner store in a strip mall, it had more space. There used to be a whole condiment and fixin station (and the 4 BBQ flavors) and the tea and soda section. I have never had a place say one refill only! That is funny. What about the tea? Is that unlimited? I guess Covid really changed our lives in a way we won't ever be able to fully comprehend for years. It changed how food delivery and distribution and restaurant business - causing supply and availability issues, worker shortages, lack of amenities and customer service. They used to be really good when they opened - brisket but I loved the spicy cheddar sausage (they didn't have kielbasa back then or I would have always gotten that!) and turkey and chicken actually. I liked their chocolate chip cookies and regular brownie.

I have not been to a Dickies but tried a Mission BBQ and the Brisket was so fatty I could not eat it! There was so much grease the paper was saturated with it too. I did try their Steak on a second visit and it was okay but not fantastic and pricey. I agree Oakwood Ribs are amazing.

Generally fatty meat is where the flavor is.found. That's why Wagyu meat is so pricey and flavorful with its super high fat content. I hate lean meat for that reason. So, it actually looked great to me. But I understand, it's not for everyone. Thanks for sharing.

Good, honest review. The pulled pork looked very fatty which is a definite turn off for me. And no ice cream! They need to make some changes quick before they lose business.

Sorry u didn’t like it. Never ate there so I don’t know if we will try it. Didn’t look great looked very dry. Oh well. Really good honest eval of the place. Thanks guys

22+ dollars not a bargain for that quality of food.Didn’t taste good nor look very appealing and you guys are very open minded,and no ice cream not a good night

Tried dickies for the first time last friday. The place was empty. I know why. I've had good carolina abd Texas bar b que. Dickies is dog food
