Hi, Max. A new subscriber here. 😄 I've been binge watching your videos since the very first day RU-vid recommended your channel (which was 3 days ago). And guess what, I really enjoy every minute of it! The way you present the foods and more importantly how you respect the locals (and their cultures) are top notch! It's also great that you have tour guides who accompany you along the way. Make you find hidden gems that other food-touring RU-vidrs miss. I'm an Indonesian, myself, but seeing you eat those foods makes me crave and want to travel around my country. I think your channel is underrated. this sure takes me back down to memory lanes. my late grandmother from my mother's side had an old joglo house. i don't know how old it was but she's been living there since her birth which was around 1925. the house was much smaller than this of course but it had big yard on the front and back. complete with the pair of old stone entrance like the one you see in temples as a part of the stone wall surrounding the property. further back it had sprawling mini-forest filled with all types of fruit trees and coconut trees. she used to show me how to make traditional cooking oil from raw coconut in her 'pawon'. when my uncle re-married they sold everything and my grandmother moved out. to be honest, i was sad. they could've just did a renov for the house instead of moving out. i miss that old house and the memories..

Tho the Joglo house looks old but it's Beautiful, also the furnitures, the plates and cups are so classic. You were very comfy eating with fingers, enjoyed eating all that Javanese food Sweet and spicy, 👍👍Mas Max.

This place mostly remembering about my granpas house in muntilan village, mostly like this place and the vibes also, but with cold weather because near volcanos (but its safe coz many people living there), cooking with fire wood in pawon (kitchen) n luweng (traditional cooking pot using wood as fire) , but the "mangut" is different from this, using mangut jogja/muntilan, another else is similar, oblok2 cassava/papaya leaf, sweet orek tempe, sayur lodeh, and many more, go to jogja and search for traditional jawa menu, maybe similar like this place, dont search in central town, but search this place in suburban like kaliurang, bantul, or another place, there are many places for traditional menu like this,, enjoy ur trip, stay safe, dont be careless with ur bags n gadgets, have good day ! ,, My granpas house is in muntilan, its not jogja, but jogja is near maybe only 1 hour from muntilan,, jogja is province,,

11:58 Mangut is the most delicious food i've ever had in my life, my favourite food. We can find Mangut in all of Central Java parts especially near North Java Sea. I'm from Semarang btw. If you come to Semarang again you can try "Kepala manyung bu Fatimah". It is a Mangut with a fish head and famous for its spiciness 🔥

Finally, Max said the right greeting in the morning: selamat pagi (not selamat malam). Hahaha! It's nice to see Max eating my favorite everyday foods in kampung, such as Garang Asam, Manggut Iwak Pe (smoked manta rey), Ayam Santan, Oblok Oblok Daun Singkong (cassava leaves cooked in light coconut milk), Lodeh and ... surprise! Max likes sambal. 👍 Pawon Simbah mengingatkanku pada pawon/dapur simbahku, the late Mbah Yah. Pawon tradisional dengan pemanas kayu. Dinding dan atap menjadi hitam legam secara alami berkat asap dari api kayu bakar selama bertahun-tahun. Dari dapur kuno sederhana itu tercipta masakan legendaris beliau yang terkenal kelezatannya: dari sego megono, sapitan daging sapi (Max ate it at Warung Zarkasi) sampai aneka kue tradisional seperti dapel, kue coro dan gapit.

Actually “pawon” means “kitchen” in Javanese, so “Pawon Si Mbah” is like “Grandma’s Kitchen” in English.

he's in indonesia. that's Indonesian flag, you can tell by the size. it has 3:2 ratio for the length and width monaco's flag has the ratio of 1:1

It looks good but I will never able to eat there. I can't use my hand for wet food nor rice. Beside sandwiches and ribs I refuse to eat using my hands like that. We use chopstick, fork, spoon so.
