Hi there, I just watched your video on trying tiet canh, and I have to say, I'm really impressed with your bravery! It's not an easy dish for many Vietnamese, let alone foreigners, but you tackled it with such grace and openness. I appreciated your objective analysis of the dish and your willingness to learn about Vietnamese culture and cuisine. It's clear that you have a deep respect for the people and traditions of Vietnam, and that really comes through in your video. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing more of your adventures in Vietnam!
the reason he told you not to mix it up is because it tastes better in jelly than in liquid form, and that's also why the more you eat it, the more blood it will taste because if you don't eat it quickly and carefully it will melt out in liquid form.
My dad use to make duck blood just exactly like that except in a plates an bowl ! He chops up the meats and slice the organs for example liver ! He puts peanuts and mint leaf on the plate and the duck blood get soft ! Yummy ❤
Duck's blood is quite safe to eat and not fishy at all. Fresh and bit buttery taste, good for summer days. Lots of proteins, micronutrient, mineral (kali, zinc and iron)....
Props to you, my friend! You are bolder than half of Vietnamese population. I tried this on my first time as a dare and got used to it. Tbh, still not a big fan. But one key difference I notice between homemade and serving places like street food and restaurants is for serving like this, the blood is some sort of diluted or seasoned to reduce the gammy and bloody taste of the duck blood. A true testimony is when you get invited to a special occasion like a wedding, the chef cuts the duck throat, pours the blood straight to the dish and serves you. That hits me in a completely different level.
Tiet Canh is downright addictive, I can't eat Tiet Canh when I was still a kid tho but now I can't imagine a world without it lol and a shot of strong liquor is highly recommended.
I love Vietnamese blood pudding/soup. In order to kill any parasites in the soup, I would squint a ton of limes and let the acid cook the blood. I think that defeats the purpose of the delicacy, but can't let anything to chance. Bon appetite
the reason he stop u to mix it bcuz "tiết canh" can only be done and eat when all the blood become frozen, then u can have a big spoon of that like he said. Really appreciate your amazing culture exchanging ❤
While I admire your courage, I once had food poisoning from eating these, even when prepared by my own family members at home. You can never really tell if they're safe to eat or not until it's too late. This is why I see fewer and fewer Vietnamese eat these things.
You re so brave man as a foreigner, and i really like the way you respect our traditional food. That looks so easy and even enjoyable to you ❤❤❤❤❤❤. Big love from me
I ate this dish when i was young. I haven’t Eat it since. But I must admit that dish does taste good not because of the blood but the combination of other ingredients and fresh vegetables.
"Tiet Canh" is a dish that scares many people, but if you get used to it, you'll love it. One problem is, the quality of the dish "Tiet Canh" depends on the skill of the chef and especially the health of the animal being taken with blood. Therefore, eat it at really reputable and clean stores.
Còn trong vid anh ấy dùng khá nhiều từ duck -nghĩa là vịt I think you may have mistaken 2 words together because this restaurant sells goose meat, not duck meat
thank you so much for your addiction and dedication to Vietnam. I think it's even hard for almost all Vietnamese teenagers to eat Tiet canh, let alone foreigners and esp Westerners, but u've made it! wish u a good health and more memorable experiences this year. Best regards, From Hanoi with love to all.
About the duck blood its rarely we eat it alone. We often eat it and then drink a sip of wine. Please next time having a cup of wine with it. Wine will help you avoid the stomachache too
wow, i'm really impressed with your Vietnamese accent. That blood soup is a traditional dish of our dad & uncle. Good to see you didn't feel disgusting :D
Wow Jordan, my dear friend, I'm Vietnamese but I won't even dare to venture into raw blood soup land. Though my dad ate it a lot when he was young. You are definitely the Anthony Bourdain of exotic foods. Very COOL
@@ad2vn I said some of the most exotic foods are: 1) Fermented Bean Curd (Chao) - it's very healthy and stinky!! Like stinky blue-cheese I ate this before. 2) Horse Meat Hot Pot from Sapa 🐴 3) Offal stew (Phá lấu)🐷🐂🦆 4) Fried crickets (Dế chiên) 🦗 Have fun! I have never tried #2-4. I'll be grabbing popcorn and get a kick out of you trying new foods.
The issue is that Westerners often have certain misconceptions about some Southeast Asian dishes, especially those they consider 'horrifying,' like 'balut' - fertilized duck egg with a partially developed embryo that’s boiled, 'tiet canh' - coagulated blood mixed with various additives, 'long lon' - pig intestines, 'thit cho' - dog meat, and even traditional tobacco products like 'thuoc lao' - a type of dried tobacco leaf smoked through a large pipe. This notion usually changes only after they try them. I had some American friends visit Vietnam, and they had heard about these scary dishes through the media. It took a lot of convincing, but I finally got them to try. And guess what? Even in Vietnam, people typically consume these dishes sparingly, probably at most once a week. But after my American friends tried them, they wanted to go eat them repeatedly. I had to tell them it's not like KFC or McDonald's, but they still wanted to eat them three to four days in a row, especially 'tiet canh.' The dishes mentioned above aren't good for your health if consumed frequently, even if you find them delicious. Therefore, I can conclude that once Westerners like these dishes, they might get hooked even more than the Vietnamese.
I have a German friend, didn't like it when he first seen it. I manage to convinced him to try it. The rest is history. He told me that every time that he is back to Vietnam now, he must have it.. he call it 'Vietnamese Pizza'
tiết canh cần rắc thêm chút ớt bột và lạc rang ( đậu phộng ) nhâm nhi với rượu đế ! ( you add tiet canh by powder chili, roast peanut and ẹnoy alcohol together)
haha i had this same dish i think the same day you uploaded this. I live in danang and vietnamese colleague invited me to goat restraunt and we had fresh goat blood... was tastier than expected
It’s really good. The taste is so special but not fishy at all. I tried it when i was little. My family used to raised duck so it’s pretty safe to eat. Now i don’t eat it because i’m not sure it’s clean, not because it’s gross. Set aside all assumptions and people will realize that if many people like something it must be for a reason.
Due to health concern, it is not popular now a day. It used to be a must have disk in each family each time there is a festivity event. They put salt in the blood after slaughter to keep it from solidify. then dilute it a gain when serve, so the blood will get a thicken texture. Thats how you get the jelly body and very mind iron taste.
Hey hey, I got something for u: -The essence of this stir-fried glass noodles with duck intestines is the sprouts because it's more flavorful than meat or liver and we eat it 30-70 to 20-80 depending on the person and the restaurant, 20 for the sprouts and 80 for the rest. -When Vietnamese people eat things with their hands, they usually limit themselves to holding it with both hands and usually only use their thumb and forefinger, sometimes the middle finger, very rarely with all 5 fingers even when eating alone because it's quite inconvenient unless you have medical gloves. Your video is so cool and you are the first one I have ever seen asking Vietnamese people how to eat the right way on RU-vid (maybe I don't watch videos that much).
i live in vietnam and i respect you for daring to eat our vietnamese food and according to the video you asked what tonic to eat, it is good for blood as well as enhancing vitality for men
