I like your honesty. Taiwanese people are proud of their food, and love to see people try them. However, a lot of content creators only make positive comment on the food and avoid saying anything bad. It is refreshing to see people speak honest opinion on the food they like and dislike. I hope you like Taiwan enough to visit again in the future.
tomato on the stick is actually not bad at all. You should give it a try. Generally serve with crunchy carmel coating along with little prune pieces in the middle of each tomato. To your surprise, the tomato is usually sweet and juicy on its own. Top with the sweetness of carmel, and a touch of sourness from the prune, it turns into an excellent snack.
Love your videos!!! So genuine and honest! Came across to your channel yesterday I’ve been watching too many Taiwanese good vlogs lately. Home sick I’m a Taiwanese living in Sydney. Taiwanese diet is mostly light and not that sweet compared to other countries. We normally go with 30% or half sugar even no sugar with our bubble tea. I think that’s why the papaya milk tasted too plain for you, that’s actually my favourite! Our bubble tea is such a thing that everyone’s preferred bubble tea shops are different. I’m with Shelb I love my bubble tea with strong tea favour! Normally you won’t find them in the night markets but proper bubble tea shops 😉 Love the minimal editing as well. Really enjoy the flow of the videos. You guys are amazing trying out the stingy tofu! That’s not easy at all for non Taiwanese people at all! Thank you so much for the amazing videos!!! Love how open you are to other cultures. Enjoy the rest of your trip x
Wow this made our day! 😭 that is all so kind and we are glad you found our channel! ❤️ bubble tea is so different for everyone so really there’s no wrong answer, I guess it just depends what you like hehe. Thanks for noticing, we try to keep it natural and real so you saying that really means a lot. We will always try something once 😉 the stinky tofu was interesting that’s for sure. We hope we can share a little piece of Taiwan with you and make you less home sick. Again, your kind words and support really mean the world to us. Thank you so much 🥹❤️
As Taiwanese I am homesick from Gold Coast Australia as well. I shared your videos to my Aussie mates who went to visit Taiwan with me before. He loves them. The pepper cake is his favorite food in Taiwan! Great videos and thank you for sharing your experience in Taiwan. Hope you loved staying there. ❤
There are TONS of bubble tea brands in Taiwan, each developing its own flavor and style. Local Taiwanese would definitely know what they can offer and choose the right place to find their favorite~ It's a pity that you may not have time to do this lol There are also various toppings for people to choose from, not only bubbles but also sweet potato or taro balls, herbal jelly, tea jelly... ...(too many~) If you like milky flavor, you should try the one with no tea but only brown sugar, bubbles, and milk, the one with milk foam and cream cheese on top is also common and popular.
Bubble tea originated from Taiwan. If you order classic milk tea with boba that’s what you’ll get. If you’re expecting foam, etc you’ll usually find them as separate menu items at proper bubble tea shops. Hope you guys enjoyed your trip.
The pickled cabbage and stinky tofu are meant to be eaten together, in the same bite. Stuff the pickled cabbage in the middle of the tofu. It transforms the taste. Separately they are lackluster.
I love seeing you both enjoying different food and drinks there ❤❤❤ I will definitely go to the night market to try some delicious food when going back to Taiwan! 😋 The stinky tofu is one of my favorite street foods ❤❤❤ I’m glad you tried it 🤭❤️
I love this couple Chase and Shelbs. Their travel adventures are just always an amazing and fun to watch. No dull moment at all.......With love from Doms in the Philippines❤❤❤
I love Taiwanese milktea because of their strong tea scent. It's delightful, healthy, with a bit of fun. But I also agree with Shelby that Vietnamese boba has a punch in it and tastes more like a dessert drink. Especially their brown sugar boba is flavor blasted with sweetness and creamery. So yea it's really up to everyone personal preferences. I just love both so I immediately understood what she talked about. Thanks, Shelby, for sharing your honest opinion :)
Taiwan's bubble tea has the most diverse flavors and toppings in the world. It's a pity you can only stay in one area for now, but hopefully, you'll get a chance to taste it in the future. Have fun and enjoy!
It’s nice to see you two introducing lots of fun things in your videos. Taiwanese people have very different tongue and prefer lighter tasting foods for dietary purposes. If you really like the creamy sugaring drinks and just go to stores tell them you want extra cream or sugar. At a night market, you’ll get a more local taste.
Taiwan’s bubble milk teas are divided into those with a stronger tea flavor and those with a stronger milk flavor. You may try to find one that suits you.
You do eat sweet! Most of Taiwanese go for half-sugar or even no-sugar on our boba. But not Tainan, it’s a city located at south of Taiwan, and people there always go for full-sugar, and all the food there is kind of sweet. I’ll recommend you Tainan if you do like sweet food.
yes I expeerience their sweetness food in tainan because I work there at Annan district night market and milk tea shop..but ypu can chhoose what level of sugar or sweetness it depend on customer choice...I reccomend watermelon.milk blended fruit rigght in front of you and their breads and pastry... explore more you can find more delicious bobA milk ytea and now you can say its more good than vietnam
Taiwan’s pork is of excellent quality,so pepper cakes can be more delicious. Stinky tofu must be eaten with cabbage,it's a perfect match. So glad you both have eaten delicious food !
dont know if u guys still in taiwan, but wish u can try taiwanese street steak, and as u like dessert a lot, i recommend u to try local brown sugar ice bowl, and peanut Ice cream roll(with coriander inside, thats so nice)
hey guys i grew up near the Raohe Night Market and it's too bad you missed out on one of the best Noodles and Oily Glutinous Rice from Dongfahao, you should definitely try it next time!
There are many kinds of pearl milk tea in Taiwan, including tea flavor, milk flavor and many different tastes and tapioca pearls. You are welcome to try more Taiwanese pearl milk tea next time. Taiwan is the birthplace of pearl milk tea after all.😊
I rarely know what they sell on the temple side, b/c we lived around walking distance from the other entrance. I was usually stuffed before I reached “the other side,” even if I just went there yesterday! There are just so many different stuff to eat.
Northern Taiwan normally have drink/dessert less sweet while southern Taiwan tend to have them sweeter. You guys might want to emphasize you like them more sweet to get to the sweet level you’d like while you travel in Taipei.
WOW~You've tried soooooo many foods at the night market XDDD! BTW, there are still many different BOBA drink shops in Taiwan. Hope you could find one you like.:) Have a nice trip.
As you guys stopped to eat your scallion pancake, there’s another scallion pancake stall(yellow sign) right behind you. Ps. If you guys still have some time left, try Coco or Macu if there’s any near your hotel. It might be closer to what you guys have been looking for for your bubble tea.
Love your videos, if you like more sweet in your milk tea, just ask them to put extra sugar, I bet them can totally do that for you. And not sure if you already know this, in Taiwan people stand on the right side when take escalator, but you can walking pass people on the left side. Enjoy your trip in Taiwan.
Try Taiwanese baozis and zongzis and Taiwanese dumplings and oyster omelet and beef soup noodles and omeso and peanut butter noodles Taiwanese roast beef and roast beef rice and Boba milk tea and yo tail with soybean milk juice and gwobao ( Taiwanese hamburger) and Taiwanese mango shaved ice.
Taiwanese fruits are amazing and very under rated with foreign travelers. Hope you get a chance to visit a traditional market and just try some of the fruits. They’re ripe and sweet always
You should visit Tainan, there have best food and night markets in Taiwan, the price cheaper then Taipei and Kaohsiung, every kind of food are sweet and Tainan also the first city in Taiwan, old city and old history, People are friendly but the weather... Warm like people
Mostly, Taiwanese don't drink bubble tea with regular sugar, nor eat very sweet and salty food often for health. Therefore, it's hardly to get same sweet level beverages as you tried at southeastern Asia. If Shelbes wants to try very sweet beverage in Taiwan, my personal recommendation is white ground tea(冬瓜茶), or visit Tainan city which called sugar city.
That scallion pancake is actually a modified version. What's funny is that when you're eating the "scallion pancake" you're actually doing it in front of a traditional scallion pancake stand.
While I remember.. and I haven't watched the whole video yet.. if you haven't already tried it, try the ice cream+peanut rolls. They're called something like 花生糖冰淇淋卷 .. It's like a peanut+sugar dust, rolled up with two or three flavors of ice cream and (optionally) cilantro in a thin crepe-type roll. It's so good.. Not all, but many night markets have it. Pretty sure Raohe does. Ningxia does for sure. Good choice with those black pepper buns. Those are so good! P.S. You can get Yakult in your boba tea. I see it at 41:11 in your video -- at the place you ordered boba tea from. 多多綠茶 - yakult green tea
Thank you for showing Taiwan through your videos ! Suggestion for your kind of bubble tea, try to get it from those bubble tea chain stores instead of small or random shop, then you will see countless bubble tea options, such as cheese/sweet/salty foam, also different fillings, even Taiwanese will never ever finish those combos, also try something seasonal options then bubble tea. Just remember to visit those "chain bubble tea shops" ! Bigggg surprise. Our bubble tea order is extreme details and complicated coz there are just too many options ! ❤❤❤
Go to 晴天崗 ,九份老街, or maybe take a train to middle of Taiwan call Allishan 阿里山 do some mountain tours! Hope u enjoy your trip I love u guys! Big welcome! Plz do ask ppl questions they are willing to guide u!❤❤❤
Michelin recommended, plate, bib and star are different things. Those street food vendors are not Michelin star restaurant. There are tons of Michelin star restaurants in Taiwan and you should try some.
Most people don't understand how Michelin rating works but the fact that a simple street vendor in night market can even get Michelin-recommendation is impressive.
Really enjoyed your vid as I used to live 2min walk from the market when I worked in taipei. Would actually walk through the market on the way home and eat there. Taipei is a wonderful city but $$ for housing. Renting is better as rents in taiwan are so disproportionately cheap to the price of the property. I rented a 1 bedroom self-contained suite and it was about 500usd a month which was great for the Central location. Will follow all your vids as cannot wait till you get to the south of taiwan, as that is my favourite place! You gotta try the steamed stinky tofu in chilli sauce it is super stinky but so yummy Line pay is japanese or korean i believe.
tofu has rich of plant-based protein! It gains muscle if u are A vegan bodybuilder! But it growth muscle slowly! U can also buy soybeans drinks in 7-11 or family mart! It’s got non sugar, light sugar and normal sugar 3 options! 👍👍👍
Hi Chase and Shelbs, are you guys still in Taiwan from 8/12 to 8/23? I am a fan of you guys, really looking forward to seeing you guys there if we have a chance because this will be my first time in Taiwan as well, and I am ready to experience such a very beautiful country ❤️ Please reply me !! Thank you !!
been to taiwan multiple times, I don't recommend bubble milk teas from night markets haha, the taste is closer to nostalgic Taiwanese old school taste.. according to my friends. The best bubble tea is still in Taiwan no doubt, just gotta ask the locals~ like chun shui tang, milk shop, dejeng, and etc
THIS IS BLACK PEPPER BUN. MORE THEN 36 YRS OF MY TIME .SINCE I ,VE REACH TAIWAN TAIPEI FOR THE FIRST TIME.MAY BE 40 YRS MORE THIS SHOP..I AM FROM INDIA CALCUTTA KOLKATA. As a person who lives in the States over 40 years and travel all over the world also go back to Taiwan at least twice a year, one thing I've learned is that if you want to try all types of food in a Night Market like this, I would try to find out which food has the lightest flavor and start from that 1st, since Tiramisu has stronger flavor compare to papaya milk shake. Enough said, enjoyed your video & I hope you enjoyed Taiwan in every way as much as I do. Keep up the good work!
enjoy your video. not sure if you are still in Taiwan. local enjoys night market and hike at elephant mountain (Xiangshan Station on the Metro-Red Line exist right at the entrance of trailhead; super easy hike for only 1 mile however lots of stairs). breathtaking amazing view oversee the taipei 101
