Adding salt to the water is common practice. It seasons the pasta. Before draining, set aside a cup of the starchy pasta water. It will thicken up whatever sauce you are using. Really enjoy your channel content and presentation.
Flour bugs - also called pantry weevils, rice bugs, wheat bugs, or flour worms - are actually tiny beetles that feed on the dry food in your pantry. Flour, cereal, rice, cake mixes, and pasta are all favorites of these miniscule foodies.
@@adriannamamczarz7710 It kills any bugs and eggs. I leave mine in the freezer for at least 3 weeks, and then let the product air out for a couple of days before packing it securely. I learned my lesson when I bought a 25-lb box of seasoned flour. Stuck it in the corner, and a couple of weeks later when I opened it, it was literally crawling with bugs. I quickly brought it out to the chickens, who enjoyed it very much.
I totally agree about the needless food dyes! I've can't have many dyes due to headaches, so I literally need to be an expert label reader 😟 Excellent video!! Have a wonderful labor day!
I’ve noticed the 1940s macaroni box design looks different from that of the 1950s. This box had a more antique look, whereas the 1950s one had a more modern look, including a plastic toy.
I was out shopping at an antique store and saw some old empty packaged food. The first thing I thought of was your channel. One of the best channels on RU-vid! Keep up the great work!
I used to work at a food processing plant, and let me tell you, you eat a lot of bugs in the food you're eating. Probably fewer bugs in the old food than there is now.
@@Jeeky88 yea lol don't drink much any more but always go whole bean but even then places for them to hide haha same with black pepper always grind it.
I completely agree about the probability of an antique dealer writing a price on the box. If I were an antique dealer I wouldn't write anything on an old box I considered an antique.
Out of all the things you’ve eaten, this one seems the bravest to me! We are spoiled with all your new videos. Happy to see the Bulman’s can again too!
Thank you for sharing another awesome video with us! The culvert on my street is on about week 3 of repair, hoping they’re using material..excited to check it out when the project is completed
i wonder how many people complaining about you using too much water do the same thing by wasting water in their own house in a lot of ways they're not thinking of
Those last few noodles clinging to the colander spent almost eighty years in a box and wanted to see the world before they ended up in a septic tank, and you just crushed their tiny, alphabet dreams.
@@Pipkiablo your comment made me think of the old sea monkey packets and mini aquariums, i remember buying them at a Hills store, or Ames, maybe it was GC Murphy when i was a kid ha
I have to say you are brave. Knowing there were bugs inside that box is enough reason not to try it regardless of how long it was cooking in boiling water.
You should make another outdoor camping video, The last one you made was pretty interesting and relaxing especially when you did some cooking inside the tent it was very cool 👍
Great stuff! I hate that they inject junk into food that doesn't need it. My peeve is companies adding sugar and artificial sweetener to canned fruits, when fruit doesn't need either. I enjoy your channels every time!
Can I just say I love this man’s videos of these expired foods and very very old foods it’s awesome he does an amazing job reviewing them love the content 💯
You always upload a video right around when I feel really down. I see the notification and I get a glimmer of joy. I honestly want to thank you for being a source of happiness and comfort for me. I struggle so much and your videos are so uplifting. It's the small things in life like this that brighten my day. Thanks so much Post.
Enjoyed much, thanks! Still I have to say, if it was a matter of life and death, I’m pretty sure even these rancid macaronis can be of some service to keep you alive, never mind the actual taste. It’s a dry food, besides cooked in a boiling water, so it shouldn’t be hazardous to your health in any way.
Some things are preserved well and apparently don’t taste bad. Can’t be said for everything obviously, I find stuff like this to be fascinating. Seeing something from decades before I was alive, is really cool. Keep up the great work man and keep yourself safe. Take care!
Love the new frequency of the old food videos!👍👍 have you ever thought about reviewing some of the dollar store caned food/meat items? Lots of items to review.
something older than me! more like my dad's era though he lived on a farm and never has liked pasta stuff...only vegetables, some meat for him and an occasional snack! There's a reason he is 88 yrs old and quite active!
Ignore those haters but I really love your explanations to these comments❤❤ seriously. You are so informative and just great to listen to. Keep this content going!!! Big fan love ya
They make a great product. I was hoping it would have survived. Makes me want to make homemade mac and cheese. Wish I lived near you. Your pot and pan situation needs improving and I hoard pots and pans. I also have one of those field and brush mowers. It's amazing.
19:17 Live in Norway, we have strict rules about food scraps, they don't even go in the regular garbage, green colored bag and a seperate bin. Grease and food oil shouldn't even be poured down the sink. It is by my municipal techniaclly food waste. Freezing food is what I was taught if I cant eat it all in a week or so. Using your senses too. The best by date a final date, dairy products have started to have "often good after" on them because obvious reason. Most dwellings are hooked up but some rare (cabins) have septic tanks and possibly even wells.
Man, I feel the same way about how the food companies in this country use artificial colorings in food. In other places around the world artificial dyes are banned from food ingredients. It's a shame, but people just keep buying the stuff anyway. Really enjoyed this one 🙌😁
Me in 1980: Can we have McDonalds? My mom and Nana: We have food at home, Creamette Alphabets I picked up at the store 30 years ago. Some random dude another 40+ years later: dinner!
Salt in water is not for taste but for highering the boiling temperature of water. Noodles needs a cooking temp above 100°C. Never less. With a pinch of salt in the water, the boiling temps while rise at 120°C so when you drop the noodles inside the water the temp will fall to 105°C and it's perfect for a stable noodles cooking.
I can understand the people complaining about wasting water. I use to live in upstate NY and our well pumped fresh spring water right out of the hillside. Now we are in Texas, we have drought and no well. In the southwest, water is precious and people here can’t grasp the fact that water can flow so freely in some places.
