Great job Scott! I agree with the mixing especially when you are highlighting. I literally have 1 pot of grey (Eshin Grey) for my Deathwatch and I just add white to what I have in my wet palette when I'm on my second highlight pass.
I had no idea how to correctly get that Tron look and was always averse to using moot green. Now I'm 10 models into completing my army and it already looks 100x better than before. Awesome video, thank you.
Cooool. I have a box of unpainted dark angel veterans I bought like 10 years ago. Don't play the game but your channel has inspired me to get painting again as a hobby.
I recommend people go watch the 'Eavy Metal videos in order, because you can really see the improved abilities and technique over time. Great job, always loved the Dark Angels colour scheme.
Another awesome video. Yours is my favorite warhammer/mini channel on RU-vid by a long shot. I really appreciate your style, presentation, and content. The only thing I preferred more about your old channel is how you calmly encouraged to Paint More Minis rather than the new Satan Death Howl version. It just got stressful after a while and I find myself racing to stop the video before that part happens. A small complaint, however, and overall your channel is continually getting better and better. Great work!
These were my brother's army in ouur 2e/3e days against my Spikey Black Legionnaires I hated facing them b/c of their huge amount of busted rules. Five terminators with ass cannons in a 500 pt game? Yup, SW can do that. Regardless; the -sculpts- for SW minis are fantastic as hell with huge amounts of detail.
Plus I mentioned this in a previous vid, but your vids are so well done and professional. It's so much better than watching someone hold an unfocused camera up to a miniature and saying uh and um constantly.
Something I tried recently was to use a fine pen to do panel lining, it honestly worked really great but I'm concerned it'll smudge in the future. Perhaps sealing everything in a varnish would make it better.
i do my eyes first over the base coat. i paint them as vertical stripes. then trim to size horizontally with my base flesh tone. this way i always get even eyes looking in the same direction lol. in larger scales, adding an extra stripe gives you colored eyes. a simple thing that works for me.
How coincidental. I may have just stripped all my old space marines (since i can't afford primaris, damn australian prices) and started to paint them as Dark Angels.
Love the model would like to see one for the thousand sons as you've done a death guard already. Wish I watched your videos before cutting out my first mini it didn't go very well.
Hey Scott. Have you tried the Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color product for your panel lining? If not, you should definitely give it a shot. IME, the black dries darker than Nuln Oil and would really speed up that panel lining step.
the warhammer official Instagram has eavy metal tip posts where they cover how to do segments of models. they have a few on how they achieved marine power armor. for your next eavy metal marine video you should give them a look so you can see if you can truly mimic their look exactly.
Thanks for this Miniac, this is the best looking DA model I've ever seen. I will definitely use the tips/techniques from this video. One question, what brushes are using in this video. You are the best, thanks for doing what you do.
Abaddon black you are using mixed with water and layter rub surface with cloth to remove it from surfaces, its diffrent technicue and much better than wash. But allso much harder and you need to know what are you gona do with it. For example leaving dark spaces as shadow under model.
I love your vids, man! One thing I do is base coat black instead of the color of the miniature and then paint each panel with the color I want, to leave the recesses black. Kind of reverse what you to. For me it makes the lines smoother as I'm not the best at pin washing recesses. I think I have to get this miniature now. Damn you!!!
Man I love your videos! Really fun editing mixed with invaluable knowledge AND the outcome that everyone strives for! If anything, your mini looks better than the box art in my opinion. Be honest now... How long did you spend on him? I just wondered as I have an original copy of Dark Vengeance that I am desperate to get back into completing! Keep these vids going - they are Awesome! 👍😎
First off, thanks mate for a well wicked session, I learned more usefull stuff. A bit curious about how you see such teensy weensy detail, did I see a magnifying headset there? I tried a few and find them tricky to work with. I been watching your stuff for a while, it really is the bees knees. I am off to Patreon, see ya there mini maniac!
My mom while i watch Miniac cleaning his closet video: "You see he can keep it clean and organised you should take an example" Few minutes later on another episode "Fuck that word", my mom: "Surprised Pikachu Face"
Love your video's lessons. have you painted a Nurgle, I would like that. also what was the name of the person you mention who does the faces, I need much help on the subject... Thanks again... you ROCK !!!!
Love your videos :D - Hate how easily and effortlessly you appear to paint things!!! :( - I vote for an F-Up's video at some point :D --- I forgot to ask, How are you dealing with GW paints through the airbrush, I was spraying through some thunderhawk blue the other day diluted to almost water with airbrush thinner and I was still getting blockages
