eBay BARN FIND 240sx! Refreshing a Oem car in 20 mins

I bought this car in April of 2020 on eBay. It just happened to popup in my suggested items, it looked clean so I made an offer. After my offer was accepted I took a 13hr trip to South Carolina to pick it up.
The car then sat untouched at my shop as I had plans just to keep it. Around October 2020 My cousin contacted me about buying a 240 so this being one of the cleaner cars I have I offered it to him but refreshed to daily. here's some of the process that I actually remembered to film.

These cars are extremely popular these days. I’ve been working on them far before they were worth fixing up I just liked the cars because they were cheap. That’s not the case these days and people go crazy for all stock versions. Being the 240sx chassis was a popular car to take to the racetrack there arent as many stock examples left

These cars a A LOT of fun if they are stickshifts and your outside air temperature is not usually above 70 degrees where you live. You tend to wish for a turbo in the summer, but when it is 40 degrees in winter you realize you don't need one (since air density is a function of temperature) and it is a lot of fun. It's way more fun to rev the heck out of a 150HP car than it is to have 300 or 400 HP car that you can't open up without endangering other drivers and going to jail. Also, NOTHING EVER BREAKS on a 240SX if it is stock (except the radiator at 150,000 miles- oh and my thermostat failed). In a world full of boring angular sedans, trucks and SUVs that all look identical to each other these are some of the best looking cars on the road (other than a C6 Corvette Grand Sport or Z06). People stare at the 240SX because they never see them and they have a classic look. The 240SX has a big cult following made up of all the guys who were 16 in 2007 when they bought one for $800 and drifted it into a wall. The people who love this car are the people who killed them all off as kids... and they leave absolutely ridiculous notes under the wiper, like, "$4,000 cash for this car today".

(8:22) " let my ocd get the best of me..." I'd say. Holy crow brah, that's some high level restoration. I thought I overdo it. I can only wish that I had a shop like that. I am a street rat in a rental basement suite with three Nissans parked on the street. The rain and the sun on them just kills my soul. But, I have no choices at this point in my life, I made bad choices prior and have nothing left but my ratty old Nissans. I totally love seeing someone who actually is able to do things properly, though, I share your joy. I dream of the day. To the people saying is it worth it, this is pure joy for those of us that love to do it. I can relate. And no, in a monetary sense, it isn't worth it, it never is, for the love of the satisfaction, it always is worth that, trust me. Besides, he said it is for his cousin. Lucky to have a cousin like this guy. A quick refresh hahaha I think that's a misnomer though brah.

Thank you 🙏 . It took me years to get to this point but I also use to work out of a driveway then I got a storage until did that for years too. Just never stopped working towards my goals. You can do it to just gotta want it and stay focused. I have a very big passion for working on these cars 14 years strong I don’t think it’s ever gonna go away 😂

Just did EGR delete and idle control delete and found out I busted the intake manifold gasket after everything was back together. Wish I bought a car from you lol

@@Nscardigno33 100% agree. Always loved the stock look not really into stancing it or coating it in drift stickers. Stock is more of a unique look, now I think. Thinking about sr20 swap in future and if so, what to do with my single cam ka for now. I just moved to Near you and wanted to meet up sometime but I understand you’ve moved. Guys at lock auto said you’re the 240 guy though so I’d love to talk sometime

Nice video! I enjoyed the image you used @ 17:48. I love Capsule as well! One question. Did you have to replace the power steering return hose (reservoir to the pump)? I have been looking for that part for my 240sx as it has been leaking PS fluid a little bit. I believe the OED part is discontinued. Looked everywhere to see if I could find an after-market part with the same (or similar) s-shape. But no luck. Any suggestions?

Thanks for watching!! As far as the ps return hose you are correct they are discontinued . However I took my current hose to oriellys looked through their pre molded hoses in the back and found a good fit . Unfortunately can’t remember the part number on that one tho

You need to pull the trouble codes on the unit and see what codes you get . There is a google thread of how to enter diag procedure

I posted a video about refreshing the evap side of the ac system. Need to diag if your compressor is still good then go from there

What would a full refresh like this cost a customer ? Super curious . . . I'm really hoping to get back into an S13 soon. I miss mine but that thing was toast. Had it for 13 years before I finally had to let it go. 😭

Mad respect man. I love these cars in their natural form. I'm not a guy to try and make a car something it isn't. So here I am with my 3rd s chassis, having had it for 7 years now still consisting bringing her back to her original glory while daily driving it with AC blasting. Wish more people seen these cars this way

I love bringing them back to stock they drive so smooth. The people also loved it so much that for the last 2 years I’ve had my own 240sx specific shop mainly refreshing cars back to factory as it’s my favorite although I do swaps sometimes too.
