I’m an Igbo girl that grew up in the south south of Nigeria. My first encounter with Chief Commander Ebenezer obey’s music, was when I was posted to Lagos for my Nysc back in 2017. My landlady would play his songs every morning, it was like I was hypnotized by his instruments, his voice and his type of sound. I don’t understand a single word he is saying but I feel he is always calling me to dance with his music 😂. Now I have a whole playlist of his music and I can’t explain the joy and sense of nostalgia I feel whenever I listen to this great man.
You are not alone, every Igbo person that hears Mr Obey music always love it, most especially the instrumental construction it is a slow food to the souls that if you can't dance you just relax and let it massage your soul. It is like listening to Chief Osita. this very track always brighten up me and my Landlord in those days in Lagos...
Your dad must know what's up then. I just bought my Land Rovers and I fell in love with it instantly. First time sampling British product, had always been driving Japanese and German!
Ebenezer Obey is a master piece he knew long before recording his first music that he's about to bless humanity with soulful, brilliant, sweet and thoughtful melodies.God bless
I leaned more to Sunny Ade's music in the 70s but I appreciate Obey's music now. His music is melodious, philosophical, full of wisdom and timeless. As long as people understand the Yoruba language, Obey's music will transcends several generations to come.
Music truely is a universal language. This music sounds as iif it was yesterday,l remember vividly when l was growing up listening to the music across the street,,it is philosophical, fundamental, ethical and all godly virtues are embedded in the songs. The instrumentals and the instrumentalist presentations is heartwarming.
As we all savour and relish the old memories of Juju Masterio Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey. Some of us were old enough when all these beautiful track were released, and some met it as been played by our parents many who have since passed. The million questions are what becomes of all these beautiful lyrics after our own generation???
This piece sure ranks amongst the finest songs of Baba Obey. It makes memories of growing up flooding back. Just listen to the percussion and guitar work not to talk about philosophical and value-teaching lyrics. God bless you sir!
Cooool and full of nostalgia . You have been my fan since i was in the pry school in 1967. Your music has not left me the same, especially this one. Remain blessed for ever amen
Be ni o. Ibadan misses you, Alhaji Arisekola oko Afusat. So do Oga Agboola Alausa, egbon Akanni Aluko and Dejo, Oba Otudeko, Chief Amuda Obelawo Lawal afobaje lEjigbo etc. God rest your soul. Ibadan rocked in the 70s when this record was released.
ahhhhhh abeg o just one Omo Okoro remembering my Landlord Baba Bolanle at Mafoluku Oshodi.always bring Salla meat to me and Ofcorse always present at his parties.times is like a second.
The instrumental interlude that begins at 3:00 is one of the greatest you'll ever hear in the history of world music. Masterful, hypnotic, original. Long live the chief commander!
This is vintage Ebenezer Obey. Is it the counseling? or the advice..the admonition or is it the reassurance that one with God has everything. I love this man I love his music. Been listening to him for as far back as I can remember
Olawumi Adeola Oh yes my brother Nigeria was better than dollars. Then Naira was #4 to $1 Naira was in number 3 in high currency rate 1st was €£#$den Yen I remember everything then.
I read all these comments with nostalgia. My concern is that our parents build dams and our generation has even refuse to even setup a borehole.God save us all amen.
As a kid, I dont like Obey music, cos I loved dancing and KSA was the deal for me. While my love for KSA has never changed till now, my love for Obey has come to increase.
Every Nigerian grow up on this music.. I'm Hausa and I remember all of Ebenezer OBE, Sonny Ade, Sonny Okosun, Pasuma etc musics.. reigning Nigerian sounds on the 90s 🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬👍🔥
The harmony of the instrumentals, backups and Baba's voice is just awesome. No musician ever touches me like Commander. My favorite musician ever. Nobody else comes close.
I’ve lost count of how many times Chief commander Ebenezer Obeys songs have been listened to! I was born into it, growing in it and vow to make my generations to come realize true music with careful thought out lyrics borne out of passion and talent truly exists; not being influenced by immorality and drugs!
If I’m not mistaken this album was made between 1976 and 1978. Those were my childhood years. Obey’s music and its philosophical ethos were a great window through which I saw the world. Together with the Holy Scriptures and parental guidance, it has signposted what has come to define views, values and beliefs.
Thank Thee ALMIGHTY GOD For His Everlasting Mercies endures with us forever Halleluyahhhhhhh AMEN!!! Listening to this evergreen music at this period year 2024, I remember rocking with the beautiful song in the 70s Thank You LORD !
I love all of chief Ebenezer Obey’s songs but this is one of my best song. My dad introduced me to his songs very early in life and I’m still hooked. May God continue to grant chief Ebenezer Obey good health and long life. He is a legend. Evergreen songs
Ebenezer Obey music is immortal, it will outlive several generations despite the onslaught of the present day brand of music ,, may God grant him good health and more grace for more years
Juju music happens to be my favorite Nigerian music by choice. Every time i listen to Baba commander songs they always sound as though they were released just yesterday, the music that defies time. More grease to your elbow baba, this is a legacy that has become part of our culture. Long live sir.
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR MINISTRY IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME I PRAYED AMEN. EACH TIME I LISTEN TO YOUR EVERGREEN SOUND I ALWAYS REMEMBER MY YOUTH DAYS GOD BLESS YOU MORE AMEN.
Weldone sir ,l always love to listen to your melodious song.Anytime I am high in spirit,I will quickly put on your track .May the most high be with you sir.
I totally beyond love the melody and rhythm of this song!!!! I wish I understood what he was saying; I know in my heart of heart that he was preaching nothing but positive words... My father played his music lots when I was a kid... Thanks for sharing
At the beginning of the play , he said " Eiye to ba fara we igun , ehin aaro ni yio sun " meaning no bird should compare itself with a Vulture otherwise that bird will find itself at fireplace.
Obey's generation excelled in quality and good music, not like this our own generation with 90 % singing meaningless and corrupt music. God bless Ebenezer Obey.
Evergreen songs, as i listen to the song it send goosebumps all over my body. how can i forget the morals in his legendry song " the Horse, the man and the Son" which depict that we can not please the world
Hmmm, baba commander! Indeed some people are very unique with distinct incomparable features/blessings. Reference to likes of Moses, David, Solomon, Joseph, Daniel in the Bible.
Who will replace Baba Obey music? 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 He is a living legend. Most of this legend dies with their music. No one replace Baba Orlando owoh since his demised. So sad. Love you Baba Obey.
back in his days artist don't have to show you women in scanty cloths for you to enjoy the music. they don't have to show flashy houses and borrowed cloths. And you wonder why children of today are far different from those brought up in the 70s and 80s
@Doyin Adeleye. My brother, It is sad. How did our society get to this point? It is unfortunate. When people had not so much money, yet enjoyed a peaceful life to the fullest. May God help us.
