Another reason not to smoke kids. Ian had one of the greatest natural voices I’ve ever heard. Smoke Totally destroyed his greatest gift. Sad to see. But what a great band back in the day.
The first three LPs were pure class Porcupine was very underrated and the more I listened the more I liked it , a real slow burner people wanted Bunnymen by numbers by then and they wouldnt play the game and quite rightly so
Smeggin Fabulous, Ive seen them more times to count (worked a tour) . Nothing is more awesome than sitting in the sound booth when your fave band plays something like this. Bono even said once, (actually many times) that the bunnymen were the standard live. They were so good live, no special lights, stage show, nothing but to play, and play SOOOO WELL. He said if you cant even base your live show in the same level of performance of the bunnymen, you shouldnt even play. He called them one of his fave live bands of all time. This vid , unfortunately does not capture all of that.
"Fate up against your will. Through the thick and thin. You will wait until you give yourself to Him." That Him is no other than Jesus. Ian admits those lyrics came by Divine Inspiration. The circumstances of life will work against you until you surrender to the Lord's will. Until then will everything line up so that you fulfill your destiny in life. No B.S. I am walking in His light
Typical Bible-thumper. Taking ONE LINE out of context and ascribing a meaning that actually has NOTHING to do with the actual overall meaning of the song/poem/story/etc. Sad. Just because someone says something is "divinely inspired" does *NOT* mean they were necessarily referring to YOUR definition of the "divine". There are a multitude of definitions of the divine...and I feel quite confident in deducing that Ian's definition of the divine is not the same as yours.
Such a powerful song and he did not do it justice. Come on. There's a 9-minute remix of this song and I mean it is of epic proportions with the bass... And his voice sores above the clouds however this live version, is sad uninspired and pathetic. Wow. This is your number one hit and you flopped it!
