My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. We see over 2,000 pieces of small engine equipment every year, and answer 1,000's of small engine questions. We specialize in brands such as Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Echo and Shindaiwa, but work everyday on MANY other brands like Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Craftsman, Remington, Red Max, Troy Bilt, Scag, Bad Boy, Hustler, World Lawn, Poulan, Mantis, Etc.. Hopefully, my experience I share, will save you Time, Money and Frustration in the future!

I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. ru-vid.comUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.

I work in a small engine repair shop, and I always use a little silicone spray to remove and install the spark plug boots when I'm replacing an ignition coil.
@ricktaylor3748
@ricktaylor3748 Год назад
Fire : If you have light yellowish fire, your engine "might:" start. You need brilliant blue spark for your engine to run right. Usually, a coil is like a light bulb, either it works or it don't. I disagree with any sparks is good spark. If your spark is jumping around from the edge of the plug to the electrode. That means the plug is fouled. The spark needs to be consistent. I had a Craftsman 6 hp. chainsaw, it would start all day long at home. When I took it up in the mountains, it wouldn't hit a lick. It would cut through ginormous logs like crazy. I ended up beating it to death with my 14 pound sledge hammer. I now have all Husqvarna saws. I have an XP 262, I bought new in 1993, it's never been to the repair shop. It still has the original NGK plug, I run 110 octane Sunoco gas with Mobile 1 synthetic 2 stroke oil. 35:1 mixing ratio, I gap my plugs at 28 on the feeler gauge. Btw, you're very attractive.😘

I just wanted to thank you for making this detailed video. I have an Echo PB-580T that’s 6 years old and just stopped running one day while I was using it. I purchased a genuine ignition coil from Echo online parts and tune up kit. I installed it per your video instructions and walla! It worked and runs great now. Thank you so much - you have a subscriber…

I picked up an Echo blower that was set out beside the road with trash. Like the backpack blower, it would run about 10 minutes and die. Then it would not start again until it was completely cool. I put a new ignition module (coil) on it and it runs great. Watching your videos has given me more confidence in attempting repairs for myself. Thanks for sharing your videos.

Working on a Hilti concrete saw today. Got it all buttoned up and was about to pull the starter rope and there it was. Laying on the bench, a random screw. Doubt and the where did that go had me tear it back apart. Coworker walks over and says, "Did a screw fly over here?". He bought lunch after I chased him out the door swinging a chainsaw chain at his head. Never a dull moment where I work.

Thank you - I did not know if I had registered the Echo PB-580T purchased from Home Depot by my wife as a Christmas present many years ago. The unit worked for years but I would have to power it back to keep it running. After the new ignition module (purchased off brand on Amazon with all the parts you had to reuse) the unit worked great for 15 minutes. Hopefully will run again once I let it cool off. Great instructional video. 😃😃😃😃😃

I have had great luck using silicon dialectic compound to lube the inside of the insulating tubing. Hint: On the spark plug boots, put the silicon compound in a syringe and squirt it inside the easy way. I got some big ones from my local Dollar Tree, but feed stores and vets carry them also. I do grind off the sharp point on the syringe needle, as then I can't poke myself or poke through insulation. Chemtronics Z5 heatsink compound also works, but is spendy. One can also add a small piece of tubing on the syringe to get lube into tight places. I keep my dialectic heatsink compound for transistors in a syringe, as the tubes are prone to splitting too.

Don't know if you, or anyone, will read this but if you had run the spark plug wire back in place before you put the contactor and boot on to it it would be a lot easier to thread in and since you have to have the boot off I kind of think removing it first would help with the removal too. Just saying.

For whatever reason they don’t want to get their hands dirty and deal with service/maintenance and rely on their husbands/bf to do everything for them. Even then their men usually suck at fixing things most of the time. It’s very refreshing and gives me hope to see such a talented young lady do this line of work!!

If I remember right, the boot needs to be pushed down wire first so that the spring-seat can be dissected. All those little 'fixins' as I call them are kept off the assembly so that the ignition is more common across more models. Otherwise they'd all have to be unique and they cost another $20-$30 (or more), and take up even more inventory.

Thank you for replying to my Amzoil Sabre post. I have tried the recommended ratio of 50//1 however, the machine smoked more, with more carbon build up. Were you aware that most 2 cycle non synthetic oils have "fillers"non lubing chemicals in them that require a higher ratio of oil to gas in them? Please consider checking out the Lubrology reports. I observed this by checking out the exhaust screen and eventually eliminated the exhaust screen.. No, I am not a sponsor, but found what works for me at less cost. I appreciate your videros' time and info.

I would suggest using Dielectric grease at least for the ease of sliding the boot on as it is conductive where regular lube can insulate the electrical connection and is great to use with any electrical connection as it keeps moisture from corroding the connection. Great videos enjoy them all. Happy Thanksgiving.
@jeremiahlf

Many people seem to think dielectric grease is conductive. It says right on the tube that it is actually not conductive at all.
@bobmartin9518
@bobmartin9518 Год назад
@@jeremiahlf you are correct. Dielectric means it does not conduct the flow of electricity. Most are silicone based. They protect electrical connectors from corrosion, moisture, and dirt and are a lubricant. You are correct. I stand corrected

I maintain my equipment and start it once in the middle of winter usually, and put it away with Stabil along with mixing Stabil in anyway as soon as I buy the 93 Octane fuel. Hi, I have a Stihl FS55 which refuses to idle when hot or in warm weather, however no problem in cold weather. I decided to have this Brushcutter serviced and have just received a phone call from service centre informing me that I need a replacement Stihl carburettor due to an air leak within the carburettor. I’ve agreed to a Stihl replacement carburettor due to the Chinese built carburettors not being built to last. Here in U.K. we rate Chinese built goods as cheap and not great. With regards to 2 stroke mix oil I use Stihl HP without problems and certainly wouldn’t use Stihl HP Ultra. Also in UK we can only get 5% or 10% Ethanol gasoline at the pumps and I use 5% and add Ethanol shield. I never leave fuel in my Stihl power tools and always run them till they stop when out of fuel. This is advice by UK Stihl service centres.

Love the business card as a spacing gauge hack. A woodworker's awl will make the hole in the plug wire insulation easily, and can be used to ream out the 'jinky' bits of the clear sleeve with the help of a hairdryer or heat-gun on low. Crimp connections or cold solder joints between the winding wires and the leads (plug wire, ground, kill) inside the laminate/ignition-pack can fatigue from repeated cycles of heat/cool leading to an open connection after it warms up and once the heat 'soaks in'.
