For a strong and fast trimmer gas engine was the only choice. Eventually some powerful corded unit arrived and while they eliminated all the faults of maintaining and running a gas engine, they had the limitation of being tethered to an extension cord. Some cordless trimmers started to show up, but until recently none had the power and run time to get the job done. Now the ECHO Cordless String Trimmer DSRM-2100E with a 56 volt battery can run close to an hour of run time. After charging the Echo battery and slapping it on the trimmer, I was impressed with how the ECHO Cordless String Trimmer DSRM-2100 felt very similar to my high amperage corded unit. Join us as we unbox and look at it's features and even take it for a test trim in the middle of winter.

When is this 56 volt ope tools available in Canada ? How does this compare to Makita and Milwaukee ?
@cfldriven
@cfldriven 2 года назад
Getting stuff can be problematic, I ordered some Ryobi products and they just weren't available. At the same time other stuff showed up quickly. Haven't had a change to experience either the Makita or Milwaukee trimmers.

How long can you trim for on a fully charged battery and how long does it take then to recharge the battery ? Does this Echo 56 volt trimmer work good ?
@cfldriven
@cfldriven 2 года назад
Don't have anything to trim yet, but it suppose to run up to 56 mins on the 2.5Ah battery, probably in the bunny mode, which means in real use it will be less. I would start out in bunny mode and ramp it up to rabbit when encounter thicker vegetation. There is a larger 5Ah available if you need the extended time. As to charging it took about an hour, but remember you can throw it on the charger after each use and unless it is empty your charge time will be less. I was impressed with how similar it was to my powerful corded trimmer. I look forward to working with it in a few weeks.

Have you been using it? How is it holding up? Run time on the 2.5 ah?
@cfldriven
@cfldriven Год назад
Since getting the Echo cordless trimmer, I have not bothered with the corded trimmer. It does an outstanding job without the hassle of towing a cord. Don't recall the trimming exceeding the life of the battery, but if it did I would just throw it on the charger, take a break and move onto some other landscaping project while it charged. For me as long as I start out with a full charge there is no concern about running out of charge. Most of my trimming is done in low speed mode which extends battery life.

how is the battery and do you still recommend going cordless
@cfldriven
@cfldriven 16 дней назад
2yrs later and no issue with the battery. I have cordless mower, drills, multi-tool, trimmer, and a few other tools and love them. The only time I go corded is for the high torque of a drill, but that was one time in 6 years.

@@cfldriven I just bought the cordless echo trimmer today at home depot and the battery date was from 2021. Should I worry about the battery durability?
@cfldriven
@cfldriven 16 дней назад
@@xrpxtrariceplease2811 It sounds like 3yr old battery with zero usage. I would say as long as it takes a full charge you should be fine. While age is a small factor the number of recharging cycles and how the battery is stored are more concerning. BTW I just checked and my battery is dated 9/21 and so far no issues. Thanks for watching.

The motor is at the bottom!!!!!
@cfldriven
@cfldriven 2 года назад
The motor is actually attached to the head of the trimmer and not the back end of the handle. Instead of using a drive shaft inside the upper and lower arms there is just a power cable. Having the motor on the bottom results in less vibration and weight. Sorry for that my initial answer was incorrect, I was confusing it with a Ryobi corded trimmer.

can't really tell much with dead plant .no mention string type?????
@cfldriven
@cfldriven 11 месяцев назад
Diana, the nylon string type is either 2.0 mm (0.080 in.) diameter 6 m (20 ft.) or 2.4 mm (0.095 in.) diameter 6 m (20 ft.). I use spiral with no issues. In regard to dead plants you do the best you can with what winter gives you. It does a much better job in the warm months with live plants. Actually gave up on my high amperage corded trimmer as this unit is powerful and much easier to work with. thank you for watching.
