Fun dark fact that's easy to miss, but throughout the flashbacks, Fisk always has a different interpreter, hinting that he's been killing them frequently.
I felt like him not learning sign Language was showing how he wasn't really invested into actually being involved in her life. Compared to the rest of the people in her family who took their time to learn sign language.
Idk why Tim just confidently says stuff like the grandma hating Maya cause she suspected a little Michael Myers in her because she killed a woodpecker. that didn't happen. also saying that the karate school was to train kids for Kingpin. also wasn't a thing. Also him saying Echo is better than a lot of the Netflix MCU, even saying that 70% of Jessica Jones S1 wasn't great? miss me with that bro. all respect to your opinion and all but jesus. good on Nick and Greg for championing Jessica Jones S1
Yeah I agreed with Tim enough on how he feels about the show in general but his comments on the woodpecker and karate dojo were just plucked out of thin air
I’m sorry but this doesn’t touch any season of Daredevil, people are misremembering how good that show was even at the low points. Side note: The second half of DD S2 although not as strong as the first is still better than a number of MCU projects imo 🤷🏾
Agree, I like Echo to be fair but DD is next level in comparison. Though I do respect that some didn’t jive with it as much because it was more gritty and down to earth and less “comic-booky”
All of daredevil was amazing. It is honestly probably better than anything MCU related. Like in terms of say IMDb ratings, only IW, EG and no way home are close.
I just hated the stupid "he can't see them cause they have a really low pulse", when he at the same time can see inanimate objects. Pissed me off to no end.
Eventually, I'd love for you guys to do something like you did with your Game of the Year video, where you give everyone's personal list. Even just their top 10 would be cool.
Dunno how I feel about promoting betting or speeding up the read for the important parts, but I guess I’m happy that you got paid for it. Anything where you have to speed through disclaimers probably not the best look.
@@EveryTimeIDavidehhh as someone who doesn't gamble it's for the benefit of the listeners to speed through the Mandates. Some Vices in this world require mandates, and plenty more do not.
1:27:40 - How are these rankings even working anymore?!?! Nick - “I put it below Moon Knight at 43.” Andy - “I’m Right there with Nick.” Tim - “I’d put it at 42, just above Moon Knight.” Greg - “I’d put it at 31, above Captain Marvel.” Tim - “That’s insane. I couldn’t put it above the 2 Ant Man Movies. (Gets told a joke and loses his train of thought). That makes Echo our new number one!” What!?!? Does Greg’s vote outweigh everyone else’s?!?!
@@loganbigmo Okay, I missed that, but the vote when Kevin was on always had to be a majority. That means when Nick AND Andy chose to rank it no higher than 43, that would be where it should have landed on the list. Honestly, they just need a fifth reviewer again, or go back to a majority voting rule again.
I gotta give this show a second watch, cause a lot of people really dug it but for for me it was kind of a struggle, and it just fell apart at the finale (and I’m not someone who usually has that complaint about these shows).
The show feels unnecessary and pretty rushed but I still enjoyed it I liked Alaquah as Echo and I liked the family/culture aspects Not something I’d rewatch probably but It was enjoyable enough for me. Just a nice and easy watch
I'm with Nick. They go out of their way to show you that Maya's dad is a loving father who cares about his wife. That is not the person who would be okay with Kingpin raising his daughter. If they had given us a scene with him warning her against Kingpin, then it would be okay. But from what we see, it doesn't work. The strength of the series is the culture and the sign language. All that felt natural and had a purpose. The action was pretty good. But everything else was okay at best Also, I hate that you give ties the higher vote. Two at 42 and two higher should not automatically move it up, but it's whatever.
Nick is on point here about Echo. Surprised he didn’t like the lawyer parts in DD though. Glad to see that cast back. Would love for everyone in the Netflix universe to come back although I could take or leave the Iron Fist actor.
@@jasethomas5198 I hope they do it for all the movies tho.I don’t just want them doing the good ones (Alien/Aliens) and then jumping to this one one.I want all the alien and predator movies lol. That Alien poster was floating in the background of the quarantine In Reviews so it’s owed😂
Nick raises an interesting point at 1:11:00 So we're all forgetting that there was one scene where she killed somebody and the camera was facing her where you can see a private jet near kingpin and Echo. It is true that we don't necessarily see her killing any isn't innocent people. I am very curious of her moral compass turn the events of the blip. We saw in the fight against Daredevil that she was willing to kill him. In Daredevil made it very clear that he was observing this gang. I do agree that we do need to see Echo committing some more morally ambiguous and concerning action from when she was a weapon for kingpin. Perhaps she's responsible for killing someone close to one of the heroes that we've already grown to love in Phase 4. I keep telling people this but I do not believe the Netflix Daredevil is 100% Canon to the events of the MCU. There's too many bits of information and evidence that point towards the two Universe sharing similar absolute points in time and can an event but not exactly the same. The hammer being different, Fisk learning Mandarin to speak with the hand but won't learn sign language. You could argue that learning Mandarin was for his business while learning sign language would be something he would have to do if he was emotionally invested in Echo. Also Fisk tends to use his name a little loosely here and spoilers by the end when he's considered running for mayor seems a little too similar to the events of DD series.
Funny story. One day I was humming a song but like I couldn't figure out what it was and I asked my mom and she said Creed and I was like do I know Creed and we went down a list of songs that I apparently forgot but knew in my brain somehow the lyrics. I was so confused at myself and then happy because I listened to Sacrifice and remembered how much I liked it.
Gotta love that the way way she channels the rage from losing her father is immediately killing other potential fathers perpetuating the cycle of violence…
Finally sat down and watched it. Loved that they worked with the Choctaw nation on this, loved a lot of the actors they brought into this but man the story they were trying to tell was not compelling whatsoever and inconsistent. The show is fine but in the current world of Marvel kind of dropping the ball more often than not, being just fine doesn't cut it. A "just ok" show when they need actual hits is what is causing this supposed "super hero fatigue"
Is it just me or is MCU holding In Review back. I feel like you guys are only doing some of these projects cause you've done 40+ already and can't stop now. These projects are just fine. If they were bad or good they'd be more interesting to talk about or listen to. There are so many In Reviews we could get but Marvel insists on dropping 5 shows per year so we're stuck with this This is not a criticism of KF I love you guys. But I really think the show would be so much better if it moved on
I agree with Tim, it’s a 3 out of 5 but it’s a good 3 out of 5. It was a fun watch with some real highs, the lows weren’t too low. It was good, definitely far from perfect, but good.
Honestly I thought the whole entire thing was showing. How kingpin has a hard time breaking the attachment that he makes with people. Like this is no different from kingpin obsessing about Vanessa. Everything is with kingpin. If you work with him, you have to be able to make him scared of you for him to stop Pursuing you. I feel like echo was finding herself Within her culture and not within the life that fisk was making for her.
Plus I think they thought that they could do the same thing With the disability like they did with daredevil. But the thing is a lot of her powers doesn't have anything to do with her disability. So you need to highlight both things separately. Even though they try to give you origins of the powers that she has. You don't really know what it does. So the origin kind of gets wasted Because that was the build up for her powers. But nothing about anything that any of her ancestors did had anything to do with the powers that she gain. Except for her mother. Which I think that was maybe the best they did with dealing with her ancestors.
@@kvoltti Well, I took that more as her being a part of a mafia family for most of her life and had that training. Like I would hope She would be proficient with a gun. Maybe if she did some gun stuff like from wanted, that would made me think she had more of a super power of sharp shooting then just being good at shooting.
I may be wrong but i dont buy that Tim is as really high on the show as he is professing, seems like he just feels he has to. Greg's takes seem more genuine. The show was pretty damn mediocre bordering on boring.
The Echo series sucked, once again, a promising trailer under delivers... the series could have been an email. -Flashbacks that no one cares about -Tribal/ancestry/magic nonsense was just unnecessary and lame -Daredevil is in for 30 seconds -Fisk was fine, I guess -TV-MA is nowhere near the og Daredevil series, very weak -Uninspired fight choreography -Just boring -The final scene/battle might be worse than Secret Invasion 3.5/10
When are we adding the Netflix shows to the ranking? Crazy to hear how Tim says they aren't that great - even the worst Netflix show is better than most of the Disney+ MCU shows
Episodes 1-4 were great and 5 was a wet fart. The ancestral stuff was a letdown, the costume wasn't as cool as I would've hoped, the whole end "fight" was really silly and her healing him and him and the goons running away like this is some kids cartoon was all really lame. Shoutout to that Dragula fight scene though.
I think this story is very rushed -- but I also feel like there are alot of bloaty plots elements. I like the character, but I don't think she's fleshed out enough for her own show. I feel like this should have been a three or four episode arc on a Daredevil show. I also think that getting rid of the her comic accurate powers -- is a huge mistake. Her ability to mimic anyone fighting style has tons of possibilities that could have been alot of fun. But no, they tie into all to her heritage, which I still feel is a little bit racist. I love the native aspects of the culture, but it shouldn't been a character moment, instead of a confusing way to explain her powers. The daredevil fight also feels like it was just thrown in there -- would of been the perfect moment to explain her powers.
I'll preface this by saying I'm the kinda guy whose favorite OG Kinda Funny member was Colin Moriarty, and Greg would categorize me as someone I don't want watching Kinda Funny, but I really enjoyed this show more than I have the other Disney+ Marvel so far. I still really don't understand what her powers are. She has the power of therapy? I think it was more interesting when she was just a normal person kicking the shit out of people and figuring out problems. The end of the last episode just kinda felt like a confusing let down. I'm really excited for the Mayor Fisk setup.
Im just saying... if you're starting it up and planning on playing your switch and just having it as background noise then why bother. The kinda funny guys are screwed in a way because In Review is one of their best programs and most of the time they dont even want to do the podcast. They should be making content because they want to not because they have to.
@@tylerrichardson3034 because everyone but Tim is tired of the mcu. It's not okay if they're are reviewing it and ranking it and not paying attention to it.
Nothing happened in this show, the plot went no where This coulda been a hour n a half special like werewolf by night was Best part was the historical accuracy of lacrosse
I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Probably in the second tier of Marvel Shows. Not as good as Loki/WandaVision. But much better than Moon Knight, Falcon, and She Hulk
I wouldn't say that this is as good as the netflix shows. They didn't do a good enough job explaining her powers too Compare to the netflix shows. In the Netflix shows they really Found a way to ground a lot of those heroes powers. Like if you ask me what echo's powers is. I wouldn't be able to tell you compared to any Other hero. Even with how ambiguous Kamala Khan's power is in the show. She's been promoted so much outside of the m to you that I already knew what her power was so when her power changed. I Didn't get as confused. Where echo hasn't been mentioned other than This and hawkeye. So I think it was very important to highlight what her powers do.
Ditto loved the diversity and exclusivity, really handled well. Still better than most the phase 4 movies, although I've yet to see the Marvels, but from what I've heard, that's a safe bet I won't be changing my mind once I've seen it....
I feel bad for Tim here I feel like MCU cannot get a fair shake anymore among Nick/Andy so while I didn’t love Echo I did overall like it. Sucks KF has turned its back on its first love 😂 ❤️🩹
I hope so, but hearing Tim say 70% of Jessica Jones S1 is bad makes me think if they ever do in-reviews for them, it'll be similar to their current rankings where good projects are ranked criminally low.
@@slayer100141 I only saw the first season of the shows cus of the defenders lead up then daredevil s3 obviously, but never got round to the 2nd and 3rd seasons of the other shows are they worth watching?
I appreciate a good un even discussion for once. I am used to you all treading the line on these marvel shows calling them "fine". I miss the back and forth of talking about a troubled property.
I enjoyed the show well enough, but I agree it could've been a tighter story. Performances and the cultural rep were all great, but I'm not crazy about the change to her powers from the comics. But since this show confirms that Daredevil is canon, are we ever getting the Netflix shows added to the In Review Rankings?
I’ve not watched a single minute of this yet but I know exactly what they’ll all say. It was fun, I enjoyed it, empty calories, I love the representation, fun action. God I hate MCU in review and I just wanna move on to another franchise so we can go back to these guys speaking from the heart and having fun with a movie that they’ve just watched. I only re-listen to Saw in review so many times 😂. Edit: OMG THEIR DOING KUNG FU PANDA NEXT YES. 😂😂
I still really appreciate Tim’s enthusiasm and usually agree with his takes. However, this time I am definitely aligned with Nick’s take. As well, if I never heard another one of Andy’s takes, I’d be more than okay with that.
The show fell flat for me. There was a lot of potential but it never quite hit for me. Maya's relationship with her family isn't really touched upon despite that being the central point of the show. Maya getting her powers felt really weird. At first, she doesn't know what's happening to her, but then we see she knew her mom had powers the whole time. Pacing was also very weird. It's edited in a way that they're expecting you to binge it, so episodes don't really conclude, they just end. It works as a limited series but I think there's a version of this story that could have been just a movie.
