10/2/23 Update - This head also works great on the XGT 40v trimmers as well, they suffer the same issues as the 36v heads.

Thanks! Just what I was looking for. The instructions that come with this aren't very clear and I wasn't sure if I was going to need an adapter or not. This made it very simple. Thank you!

I was very close to ripping Makita engineers a new one not to mention the adult vocabulary the neighborhood kids had to listen to the last two years. The Echo head works like a string trimmer head is supposed to. Great, clear video, thank you.

3:25 All you had to do was twist the Speedfeed head and it would retract the line instead of you having to cut them, wasting the line.

Thank you very much for the vid. The instructions that were provided are faint in print and to small in font. So no item (J) is needed and only item (M) is required. Excellent video!

Game changer for sure! I had an EGO string trimmer but many other cordless Makita tools,when a friend asked if anyone had a string trimmer to get rid of... I figured it would be a good op for me to consolidate my Makita tools and get rid of the only EGO tool/battery/charger I had, my friend was very happy with the EGO unit. I was very impressed with the overall quality of my XRU15 but very disappointed with the trim head.. Although the total cost was quite a bit higher than the EGO, I do finally have a great kit once again. Such an easy swap too, Thanks for the tip!

Also, if you want less vibration in the trimme,r you can use Rotary Vortex trimmer line. This is the smoothest trimmer line I've tried in 40 years of running trimmers. I know your battery won't handle it, but with a gas trimmer, you can take the guard off and up to a certain point, the longer the line the less vibration in the trimmer.

I have been using a Speedfeed 400 for about a year now. It works great! Why didn't you just wind in your line instead of cutting it?

Just had this idea because I was thinking my new makita 36v trimmer has an outdated head. Good video!

One last thought, if you use .080 trimmer line, your battery should last longer, but the line wears down quicker than .095. Props to you for doing your own yard work instead of hiring it out to someone. 🍻

I've got a dual set of 6.5 AH knockoff batteries, I quit when the batteries quit 🤪

The 36 volt Makita string trimmer uses .080 line. The Echo Rapid Feed 400 also uses .095. Do you think the .095 will work well with the Makita without overheating it? What size did you use in your Echo? thanks

The echo speedfeed 400 doesn't fit on the Makita DUR364L model. the adapters are all too big for the spindle on this model. Is there another adapter that can be purchased for this to work?

Did anyone have issues with cutter? When I put my Speed Feed 400 on, the string doesn't hit the cutter on it.

When i put the adapter on my xru15, it drops the head so low that the string doesn't hit the cut-off. Is there a trick to this?.

Same problem. The black spacer needs to be thinner, else the line doesn't cut very reliably. I'm thinking about sanding mine down, although I'm hesitant because it it doesn't come out flat, that's probably not good.

Would you by any chance happen to know how to remove the head on a Makita Dur181 cutter?

Unfortunately I have the Makita 40v and the echo head needs adapter to attach.

Enjoyed the video. Just bought Makita lawn mower and got the 36v trimmer for free! Want to replace head like you did. What is the part number?

No good. Clogs up like any other. It's not the feeder it's the connection to the gear. All types will clog up instantly with tall weeds. Not green grass that everyone wants to play in because it's a material that will never clog. But I actually need the weed whacker to actually cut weeds and none can do the job. I have several. Too bad can't post pics here

So that’s when you use a brush cutter with a metal blade, you gotta use the right tool for the job.

Did you ever do this on your 18v Makita trimmer? I'd be very interested to see it done. Thanks!
@UltimateToolReviews
@UltimateToolReviews Год назад
I didn't, I sold the 18v and got the 36v because I needed more run time.

I just bought the speed speed 400 for my xru15. With the adapter installed and the shape of the head, it seems as if the line cutoff isn't lining up correctly. Has anybody else experienced this, and is there a quick fix?
