I consider my design style eclectic. However, I definitely do appreciate other design styles, too. I do find that the rooms I am most attracted to are the rooms that reflect the person within.

I love eclectic design as it tells a story about the people who live in a home- You can see all the "parts" that make the individual who they are. It is definitely based on personality. For example, I am a reader- You will find books all over my house in different genres. My family and I are big readers. We also love religious art as it tells a story, so you will see lots of religious art in my home. We don't do matchey matchey. What you will not find in my home is a mix of furniture, for example old and new. If it is vintage, the entire room will be vintage. I enjoyed your video. Thank you for sharing it.

Very insightful and great depth and detail. Well done! Is there any such style like "Functionalism?" I am thinking of design that looks inviting and intended for use as opposed to just being show-space. I grew up in an age where family members were not allowed to sit on the living room furniture or dry their hands on the guest towels. I felt triggered by your photo of the sofa that had so many throw pillows that there was no room for people to sit. Maybe the pillows were intended to keep dogs off; who knows. Do you have any tips on how to make homes appear most welcoming so that the message is clear that candles should be burned, towels should be used, furniture should be sat on, music should be listened to and food and wine should be shared. I suppose what I really want is for guests to feel precious, NOT the furniture.. Is this a "style?" So far, I think the Coastal Grandmother style is closest, and Eclectic and Maximilian also could come close. I am interested in your thoughts.

My dog would still jump on the sofa and proceed to push every cushion off the sofa before sitting down

Thank you for watching ans your feedback!! 😊 I feel like you have to take the pictures with a grain of salt...any design style can be really functional and allow for all the life stuff to happen. It's really up to how you pull your space together and the narrative you as home owner have with your guests as well as opting for items that reflect your style ..but are maybe preloved or slip covered :) to me pillows are extra seats...throw them on the floor. 😁 That's my take on design style... I'm very much into being comfortable and I want ppl to put their feet up and relax 😊

@@InteriorDesignHub I really enjoyed your video and found it very helpful♥. I am hoping to achieve an eclectic design style for my sitting room but I am trying to figure out how to create colour balance. I do love cushions and I do use them for sitting on as well. I find my dogs actions hilarious and it does not stop me from using cushions. He gets a lot of enjoyment as he then launches of the couch onto the pillow of cushions he made on the floor. I like buying different european size pillow covers and use them for the lounge room. Easy to swap over and buy and you get the benefit of nice large cushions. that work well as floor cushions too.

Lol I took 5 online "what's your design style" tests online and they all said electic. Before I knew what this was, I described my style as: I like Scandinavian minimalism but displaying items that are sentimental , but boho with pops of color and plants but rustic, warm woods. Neat but not necessarily super matching and uniform. Like put together but with personality. I want my house to reflect me. Now that I discovered eclectic style, I'm like, "yeah, that's definitely me."

I didn't know my style was named this cuz I always liked many styles.. Thank you for this informative video, I'll deff check other videos on diff styles.. How can I please incorporate this to my bed room where I want a space for calmness yet creativity and energy as it's gonna be divided into three uses: (sleep, home office, and chill after work -tv mainly-)? I want the sealing to represent stats and moon or the galaxy but dk how to excute it.. my room is 5.5m length x 3.5m width, so it's not small nor big.. I hope you can help me plzzz

I say start with your favorite colour. Paint the whole space... and then it sounds like your style is very all incompassing, so just pick items you love. It will work if you love all the items in the space :) Check out a vinatge store for some really interesting unique items.
