The RV is so luxurious especially inside . Magnificent testing of the Delta Pro system and with an extra battery can handle most of the heavy loads inside , that’s incredible ! A generator , 800 w of PV modules and maybe a 2nd battery like you said is all you need in an apartment Still be mindful of the amount of heavy loads you use . May the solar be with you .

Really cool to see, especially the close-ups of the panel. I didn't realize the "normal" AC input could take 120/240 but the label clearly says it. I bet that would be nice charging from a bigger portable generator faster. One complaint on your title - 7.2kW should be 7.2kWH. I thought this was going to be two of the Delta Pro's with the voltage-double 120/240 kit to power a home transfer switch. Its still outside my price range but I like their modular design and this is the only system I've seen so far that can be broken down to move 1 piece at a time so you don't need a forklift and also put out power wattage comparable with a full-sized gasoline generator, and expandable up to similar kWH capacity as a generator with a full tank of gas. I love the idea of using the battery so there is power 100% of the time and run the generator just a few hours a day to fast-charge the battery packs stretching emergency fuel reserves, my portable generator uses only about 50% more fuel flow at half load then spinning with no load at all so its inefficient to run it all the time "in case" you want power.

Great detailed video. You touched on a lot of helpful things to consider using the Ecoflow system for. You should do a video about the Standby (UPS) feature. It works very well. I've been testing out our DP for the past month now and really like it as a backup power source to our Tri-fuel generator. I can tell you how the Standby feature works if you're not sure. The owner's manual doesn't really explain what it is and how it works. Running our entire house, with forced air heating, we get 3 1/2 to 4 hrs. from 100% to around 7% battery. I'm looking into purchasing the extra battery or another DP, to add to our system for longer run times.

This is exactly the video I needed to see as I'm planning on getting rid of my 3 deep cycle batteries in my RV and getting something like the Ecoflow delta pro. I have 400 watts of solar on top and a small inverter generator that you successfully showed both can work together. My power demands are not that high so I could probably keep the small inverter generator on low mode at 58 DB which is pretty quiet in campgrounds should I need to charge the lithium pack. There are a ton of newer lithium-ion phosphate models over 2000 kwh coming out. Two of them would be the Pecron E3000 at 3100 wh ($1600) and the Oukitel 2000 wh ($1199) about a thousand dollars cheaper than the delta pro. Just waiting to see what comes out ahead.
@fu4616

Looks like the Pecron E3000 still uses Lithium Ion. The Oukitel 2000 uses the newer LiFePO4, but it doesn't have capacity expansion capability.

One thing to remember is that the "hours left" is just an estimate. You aren't going to run your heater, ac, stove or lights all the time. This is why they call it watt hours. Meaning this is the time you have "if" you never turned off the stove or AC or heater. Who leaves the stove, AC, and heater on all the time in real life though right?

Gavin, thank you for both responding to my previous comment on your Generac backup power review, as well as your informative and thoughtful review of this product. I am just learning about generators so am not versed in electronics "speak." So you have 2 - EcoFlow Delta Pro 7.2w or does it come with those two with purchase? Am I understanding correctly that the battery/generator does Not charge in the sun while using the generator? Considering our situation knowing that our power will be turned off for perhaps days due to fires and fire prevention, if this were your family would you have 2 generators (or as I think I see it on your video, 4 generators). Does that SolarPanel come with the Ecoflow Deltapro? Seems to me that the quality of the solar panel is a critical piece to this equation. So it is using up its capacity to charge and then at some point I have to unplug everything and let it recharge again? This means food in the refrigerator won't be kept fresh for about 10 hours. This is why I am thinking of redundancy and ordering 2 (sets?). Gosh so much to learn and figure out. In our situation, we would anticipate that our refrigerator would without power 24/7 for perhaps days until power comes back. Would EcoFlow Delta Pro be able to handle a load of wash and then dryer? Please what is your opinion on our above scenario? Your channel is very important and I thank you. Are you planning on reviewing the Patriot backup generator that is advertised on your channel?
@GeneratorReviews
@GeneratorReviews 2 года назад
OK the first thing I’m gonna say is thank you and just to clarify the EcoFlow can charge on solar and generator at the same time while being used. So it never has to be disconnected from the load to charge. EcoFlow comes with the inverter and you can buy a separate pack which is extra battery system allows you to use two extra batteries. Since the washer is 120 V it can power the washer but most dryers are 240v So you would need to another to get the 240 V

Apparently firmware needs updates but because it wont connect it cant update. MAYBE it's because it was not in xboost? But even still, my 3500watt predator will power everything and the DP is 3600watt outside XB so I'm lost. my fireplace is identical to yours. Maybe I'll make a video..

I have two Delta pros and a smart home panel. I have the smart panel connected to the main breaker, but I do not have the Doctor pros connected at this point do I connect One to begin with or both. Flows videos shows only connecting one I do not want 240 V, I just have two Doctor pros. I’m assuming I can split the circuits. Thanks for any help. I was just also wondering if I need to remove the little green 240 split thing at the top

You won’t get 240 V unless you have an appliance that requires 240 V But what you will get is each Pro will support one leg.

That has to be the best way to get the most out of the Generator and if there is some sun during the day that would save GAS..I would take advantage of getting as much battery storage as possible so I could take advantage of the sun even when i'm out.. and I think ?? you could use a much smaller generator and do more with less. !

Thanks Joe, I don’t feel like it has enough capacity to charge an EV and the floating neutral wouldn’t work anyways. It can be charged using your EV fast charger and for 240v you need two delta pro and the special adapter linking them for 240v.

Maybe I missed it, however . . .during your RV portion of the video, you only called out the runtime of your main Delta Pro, you did not include the runtime of your Extra Battery. Essentially, because you have an Extra Battery, the runtime would be double the amount of time.
@GeneratorReviews
@GeneratorReviews 2 года назад
The time it gives is already calculated to include the extra battery
@43ten43
@43ten43 2 года назад
No, the displayed runtime while he's in the RV (using the phone app) is for the combined system. You can see that it still shows 100%, even though the runtime keeps dropping as he turns more and more devices on. The Pro + extra battery are about 7200wH of capacity. When he's using 3000+ W, it says he'll get about 2 hours of runtime. That would equal about 6000W, but when you add inverter and transmission losses, this lines right up with the combined capacity. If it was only the Delta pro, 3000W would only last for about an hour given the 3600wH battery.

I am moving into a bus and building it out. I'm on an extremely tight budget. My top priority is the be 100% off grid. It's just my wife, me and a few animals. I am definitely going to go with an all electric setup in addition to an outdoor propane grill and a small indoor wood stove. Im thinking self contained units like this would be perfect? Any thoughts?

@@cltoloh I did something similar in a van but pieced together the system and saved a lot of money. I played the sales for months and got some pretty good deals. None of this is cheap and its getting much worse. Plywood, OSB, fasteners, wire, outlets, plumbing are very expensive now. If you are a good scrounger and watch Craigslist, you can find some real bargains still. My friend's van build electrical parts cost.... $1150 for Chins 12 volt 300 amp hour lithium battery from Amazon. 3000 watt Renogy pure sine wave inverter...Amazon $360. Renogy Rover 30 amp mppt solar charge controller $110 Amazon. Fuses, cables, brackets, and hardware an extra $200. Sun Gold Power, 3 of their 100 watt monocrystalline solar panels $350. 10 gauge solar cables, MC4 connectors, crimping kit, roof penetration cost me about $135. That's about $2500 so far WITH solar. Very livable, overkill on the inverter (he thought he wanted 1000 watt). This setup runs his 1700 watt air fryer easily as well as the big Instapot, 1200 watt microwave oven, toaster oven, and coffee maker. Can't hurt to go bigger on the inverter than you think you need. The Chins lithium battery has 300 amp hours and 3840 watt hours. The Delta Pro has 3600 watt hours of power. It costs about $3600 WITHOUT solar panels but it sure has some cool features. On the van, we added niceties like a $90 Renogy battery monitor...worth every penny because it tells you exactly how many hours and minutes you have left in the battery, what percentage of charge is left. When the microwave oven shuts off the time left on the battery drastically increases as it recomputes. Also, the monitor reads volts, amps and watts, shows charge/discharge. You can see how long it will take in hours and minutes to reach 100% charge. You can tell from 20 feet away if the solar panels are inputting more energy than you are using. He wants to add a $150 DC-DC charger to have the van alternator recharge the battery while he's driving in the rain. I gave him my old $39 Renogy Bluetooth BT-1 unit to plug into the solar charge controller so he can read battery conditions from his cell phone app. That was worth it, very useful. I donated an old Perko 275 amp battery disconnect switch off a boat. The battery keeps its charge for months while disconnected and the system can be easily disconnected if something starts smoking. Consider that for your build. You can add a second battery through it if you ever need to. Another thing we did was to buy inexpensive thrift shop 120 volt light fixtures and get 3 watt and 6 watt screw in 12 volt LED bulbs off eBay, $3 each, so they run directly off the 12 volt battery without going through the inverter losses. Just be sure never to screw in a regular 120 volt bulb.....The 12 volt system also powers his 12 volt fridge, cell phone booster, and 12 volt electric blanket. Everything in the 12 volt system has automotive blade fuses, just in case of trouble. As a bonus to this van build, he has been able to run his home fridge, microwave oven, toaster oven and coffee maker from a 20 amp extension cord from the van to the house. Not all at once, though! The power was out for 47 hours over there and the van was the real hero. I forgot....the van has a self contained 12 volt diesel heater, $135, that doesn't even put a dent in the Chins battery. 200 degree F air comes out of that thing and it heats nicely. Good luck on the bus build.
