I got my mother the roomba 690 for christmas and on amazon due to black friday week only cost me $275 (price has gone back up since) but it's the greatest gift i could've given her. She loves it and as she approaches 70 this year i see her struggle with vacuum cleaners so this was a solution to that and it has worked wonderfully. She constantly tells me that it may be the best gift anyone's ever given her and honestly the little thing just works. I have no brand loyalty here so whatever works for you is great and if you've been wavering on whether to finally buy one or not i can only encourage you to do so. These little guys have made life so much easier especially since you can activate them via your phone and app so if you're leaving work to drive home then you can start it as you leave and by the time you get home it's done and you have clean floors
This is the first robot vacuum video I ever watched...you are the only one I actually trust to not be an infomercial ;-) Thanks, Lisa for doing this, it looks like it's actually a pretty useful device...even if a broom will be faster for sure. And even kitty does not approve :-D
Lisa, thanks for your review. I have had the N79 for over a year and paid < $200 for it. The N79 does not have the extra power options that you noted for the N79S. You noted you could not schedule certain times and days but you absolutely can. We have our DeeBot run on Tuesday and Friday @ 3pm. Unless the N79S changed the code, I would think it would be able to do what it's early model could do with scheduling. The test on spot cleaning does show how most side brush systems would act. If you have your remote or phone in your hand, you would normally, manually go over that area with directional pointers. I personally use the spot clean in high use areas of the house that require multiple passes. I have friends with Roomba and my parents have the Samsung and both work equally, but much louder. I will note it is nice to have a conversation with someone while the DeeBot is running in the same room. It is even more relevant on a hardware floor, where everything echos. Just wanted to give real world experience. Thanks again for your review.
I’ve been using the N79 model, and I have a long hair cat. It does great job and one thing I can schedule it on certain days for example to run from Sunday to Thursday and skip Friday and Saturday. It’s quite too. I am very happy with it and much less hair on my floor.
After viewing your review, my daughter chose the Deebot 79s for her and hubby to give me for mothers day. Oh. My. Gosh. This little critter has made my life better. I have 2 dogs and an adult son (with long hair). I have all hardwoods with some scatter rugs. I set "rosie" to run 4x per week. The first 2weeks, I cleaned it out every 2 days. Now, I only have to clean it out about 1ce per week. It keeps my floors spotless. I move furniture around occasionally to let her get around the edges. I love it. Going to get a 2nd one for upstairs.
Had mine for two years. Love it! We have four cats and it does a decent job cleaning up the cat hair. Definitely better on low pile and hard surfaces, but ok on other carpet too. Can buy replacement parts as well if needed.
HI Lisa, I just bought this model and was looking for some varification of making the right choice, and you have done just that. Your review of this product was very informative, as well as entertaining. I really like how you're not selling the device but showcasing the good, the bad, and the ugly. Great work!
Lisa: I just want to thank you for helping me make a decision and finally make this purchase! Been eyeing this item for some months now but was hesitant until I saw you with it. Order should arrive next week and couldn't be more excited! BTW, I'm talking about that kick-ass T-shirt, not the vacuum. Thanks again Lisa, you're a diamond! 👍🏽
The Roomba has a much smaller spinning brush which is why it does not throw the dirt around, that is why it works better. But does not get the corners or edges as well.
I can Totally see your cat pinching the remote control and sitting on the robot vacuum cleaner to use it as a vehicle Lisa also It’s lovely to see your Teeshirts again
I enjoy your reviews! love the shirt too! lol. i got this Deebot for my parents. itll be delivered tomorrow. theres a few robot vacuums i read reviews about but kept coming back to this one because of the alexa integration. so much looking forward to that. roombas are just too expensive at the moment. anyway, keep up the awesome tech reviews. you and MKBHD are my fave tech reviewers.
Can you please do an overall comparison review of a vacuum that would work on some carpets please no one ever seems to use these on carpets and that's what I'm waiting for before I buy 1. Thank you Lisa your reviews are awesome.
I bought the Deebot N79S a few days ago and just want to give you all an update on the app: it apparently got an update and now you can set the cleaning schedule to perform on your chosen days only, so if you only didn't buy this robot for the schedule in the app.. here you go ;)
I've a DN622/N79. Never got the unit to work with my WiFi. Never saw ECOVACS_00xx at any time, and yes I tried everything (2.4), press for 1 beep, etc. etc.
Good video! Just to nitpick a little... I think you meant that the robot will do a 180 when you hit the reverse button. If it did a 360 it would just turn around in circles :)
I think (and I say think, because I'm not sure; mine hasn't come in yet) that you need to put the robot more central to the mess for the spot clean? Have you tried that?
I want to know if the height of the over all deebot is adjustable, it keeps getting stuck under a kitchen cabinet edging down low. I've looked online and can't find an answer for this style of Deebot. It's an older one, same look as this model in your vid.
So I know it says it's not meant for carpet floors but you show it running fine on carpet in the video (around the drum set), did you find that it didn't work? Pretty much my whole apt is carpet and having an affordable robot vacuum would help a lot since I have a cat as well. What do you think?
I don't know if anyone replied to you yet but it is not recommended for long carpet. If you have short carpet I don't see the problem. I am no expert though so you might want to do some more research.
Yes. Flip the unit over and just south of that single wheel is a cover with 2 screws. Inside is a battery pack with a connector. Just get a new battery on Amazon or eBay for about $15. The 3000mAh batteries are much better than the standard 2600mAh.
$229? Hmmmmmmmm. A better deal than the Roomba, but still an expensive solution in search of a problem.I suspect you could do as well by simply placing socks on your cat's feet (sorry kitty, its an observation, not a recommendation! ...although that would similarly provide quite a bit of entertainment value - albeit at the expense of the cat!) That said.....Lisa, you could review paint drying while watching the grass grow and it would still be a compelling and enjoyable quality review! Thanks!
I paid $129. I always buy Amazon "used" items. Only issue is damaged package. I once paid $15 for a "warehouse deal" that normally sold for $90. It was a barstool with a few nicks. I repaired them.
So you have a machine that flicks dirt all over the floor hmm 😟. I thought that's what children are for lol 😂. Could you please tell us about the Sony 10 and the Sony Note, even has the stylus. I've seen a couple of clips about them but none by the major people ie You 🙏.
This device is a joke. It is always stuck in every slightest obstacle, and in the cleaning it is a clown. When you will the liquid compartment, it it completely useless to any dirt that is on the floor. It can run over a stain for 1 000 times and the stain does not clean away. You need to clean the floor by hand, and then play with this joker machine for having some fancy "robot". A JOKE! Not for cleaning; nice for playing around though.
