I have been battling severe depression and anxiety for eight years. I have tried many different medication combos and all have failed to improve my symptoms. I am undergoing a treatment called electroconvulsive therapy which is a treatment for depression that has a much higher success rate than any antidepressant. For the length of my treatment, I will be keeping a video journal of my progress. Due to the lack of testimonies about ECT on RU-vid, I have decided to share my journal with the community. Thank you for taking the time to check out my channel. I hope you find my videos informative and helpful.

I'm glad to see you are doing so well!!! I have treatment #42 in the morning. I'm still having periodic mood swings and depression, but overall am doing better. I've only had partial improvement, but that is better than where I was at. I think I'd be doing better if I wasn't diagnosed with RA last year and constantly in so much pain.

Hi Jennifer! I am so sorry about the RA. My mom is actually starting to have symptoms and seeing the pain she is in, I can't even imagine how hard that must be for you combined with the depression. I am glad to hear that you are doing better though. I still have progress to make as well, but like you said, I am so much better than I was a year a go.

Thank you for sharing your experience :) I had ECT done 6 months ago and it changed my life. I am so grateful for this treatment! Glad to see you're doing so well :)

So are you in remission? And off all medications? I'd love to know,thanks. To me,I do not know if it's worth it,if you have stay on medications anyways.

I know this is 7 years old but I was searching for help. My fiancé just had our baby 6 months ago and is in rough shape. She struggles so much and it seemed to come quick. My misunderstanding of depression was that you are tired and sad. It’s so much worse. How are you feeling now? She just had her 4th treatment. We’re hoping it works.

Hey. How many treatments did you have? How many until you started seeing a difference? I've had 10 or 11. I'm supposed to get 3/week, but it's such a pain finding a ride that often. I hate asking people for help. I'm discouraged. I feel like I might feel a little better, but don't know if I'm just wanting it so badly that I'm tricking myself. It's hard to tell when it's subtle change. Three of my aunts have said I sound better just talking, and one said I don't carry myself like I'm so sad anymore. It's been such an eye opener. I had no idea it was so obvious to others, as I tried to "put on a happy face" as much as possible. I just can't believe that this disease was so obvious to others who were around me. I guess I'm hoping for the impossible. To wake up one day and be the happiest me I've ever been. Thanks for your comment back. I appreciate it. Kristy

I'm so glad you're doing well. I'm seeing my doctor again about this in a few days. My situation keeps getting worse and I hope they become willing to consider this as an option. So far they aren't keen on the idea. I've been through CBT and a bunch of medications and so far they haven't really helped. I keep watching your videos to remind myself that there's still a treatment I haven't tried yet that could work.

Linda Green I've had over 60. I'm not sure of the exact number, I'm going to ask next time I go in. I am currently having maintenance once every 5 weeks.

Hi Jenny. Thanks for the insight to your life with ECT. Being a fellow sufferer and having my mother suffering badly right now I have been looking into ECT as a possible treatment and your videos have been very informative. I think you are a very brave individual as a lesser person may have given up long before now. You are truly stronger than you think!

Unfortunately, you haven't answered my last e-mails... Maybe you haven't received them. Anyway, I am very pleased with your recovery and I wish you keep getting better!! I have some questions to you: - How many ECT treatments have you experienced (total number)? - What kind of ECT was used in your treatment? As far as I know, there are two kinds. P.S.: I'm sorry about my english mistakes... There's a lot of time that I don't practice! LOL...
@jennysectdiary
@jennysectdiary 10 лет назад
Hi Henrique! You don't need to apologize for mistakes lol. For one, there aren't really any and two, I think it's absolutely wonderful that you can speak and write in another language! I have so much respect for you, because I am no where near being able to do that. I think it's amazing! I'm not sure off the top of my head the exact number of treatments I've had, but I know it's over 50. Next time I go in, I will find out the exact number. I started out with unilateral ECT and then progressed to bitemperol ECT. Hope you are doing well!

I am 26 years old and had this done in 2008. It changed my life for the better it really did. But my memory loss I never gained back and I have a real hard time remembering things that just happen. For instance doing something like turning the water on for the sink to Fill up leaving the room and forgetting I even had the sink going or someone gives me a task of three things 1 thing later I forgot what 2 and 3 were. Lol. But all in all it was a positive experiance and I really like your beginning to end experiance it's going to help many people who are going to go through it. It's not a magic pill it doesn't work fast. But in time the changes are seen.

Jenny, You give me hope. I had my 3rd treatment today and am a bit discouraged. I've dealt with depression since my early teens (34 now). This last bout has lasted four years. My biggest fear is that this won't work. I'm at a loss as to what to do or where to turn. I hate depression. I hate who it has turned me into. I hope and pray that my story will end up being as encouraging as yours. Congrats on the wedding and the job. Kristy

Why my doctor keep on telling me we have to try meds again before to decide to go throw ECT !!!! I do not understand doctors, why if there are small side effects? Why to let me suffer a year again trying a F*** new drug? 9 years are enought ...I want to be in your situation I hope one day i'll get my ECT sessions
