I have been battling severe depression and anxiety for ten years. I have tried many different medication combos and all have failed to improve my symptoms. I underwent a treatment called electroconvulsive therapy which is a treatment for depression that has a much higher success rate than any antidepressant. For the length of my treatment, I have been keeping a video journal of my progress. I also underwent a treatment called transcranial magnetic stimulation or TMS. Due to the lack of testimonies about ECT and TMS on RU-vid, I have decided to share my journal with the community. Thank you for taking the time to check out my channel. I hope you find my videos informative and helpful.

So inspirational Jenny!!! Thanks for sharing your journey online!!!! I too do ECT's. I was receiving them every two weeks and now I um up to going every four weeks which is a good feeling. I do have one question for you. Did you "transition" from ECT's to TMS or how did that work for you?? I suffer really bad in the winter as I have SAD... THANKS so much for your videos they are a great way for ppl to see that they are not scary and are nothing like the movie The one who flew over the coocoo's nest!!!!! Keep up the HARD WORK!!! You rock!!!!

Good to see you Jenny and thank you for everything: Just some words of advice with the welcome back! 1. Don't spread yourself so thin. choose your battles. You are not superwoman! :) 2. For your blog post, and ongoing, I would love to see a tighter post ECT community the good and the bad. Does not seem that much of the exists with all the stigmas and with the unpredictability with the struggle of depression. Also, TMS as well as new brain stimulation devices are becoming more public and are getting more press and publications. A lot of information to be discussed, maybe can one day have a panel :) Be well, treat yourself right. Learn to breathe instead of panic. It is the little things. Don't overwhelm yourself! Take care my friend.

Jenny, how are you doing today? I ask because I’m now undergoing ECT, which doesn’t seem to be doing any good. The doc has mentioned me trying TMS, but I’m reluctant to try it since ECT hasn’t done anything.

Glad to hear you are doing ok. I started sessions and got to 3 then my heart had irregular beats which sent me to a cardiologist.
@citizn-xh7rv
@citizn-xh7rv 4 года назад
This is my concern too. I had two experiences where I tried marijuana and my heart would beat irregularly fast. My doctor has told me that I'm succeptible to having a heart attack. I feel like my heart just wouldn't be healthy enough for procedures like this despite the fact that I could desperately use the help.

I am SO RELATING to you listening watching this video right now. I can’t tell you how relieving it is to hear someone else struggles in these ways. It’s all been inside and no one else in my life has had these struggles. Thank you so much for being brave to share this. You are such an inspiration. Finally I’ve had someone to relate to

Thank you. I just finished session number 12 most recently. Nothing traumatic has happened so far but I can't say that I'm enjoying the treatment in and of itself. It's just something I'm trying to get through.

Thanks for your reply! I have done 8 sessions so far. We started bi-lateral last week and my memory loss starts to get obvious. Overall it's not a very pleasant experience. I trust my doctor and if she thinks this is good for me, then it should be.

Are you an actress? This is a serious question I think everyone should ponder. Please watch ketamine saved me to see another person talk about having ect. At least look at why ect could cause brain injury and people’s personal stories as to what they experience in the negative. Please research the hell out of ECT, the history, personal stories. Please if something seems off then look into it don’t let people make decisions for you go with your gut and instinct.
@Anwenn1
@Anwenn1 6 лет назад
My sister is doing ECT because ketamine did nothing for her. Have you done the same research on ketamine that you should have done in ECT? Ketamine is a very new as a psych drug. ECT has been researched and the procedure has been refined for over 50 years. It is also used only after other treatments and medications have failed. There are risks with EVERYTHING. Look up tardive dyskinesia. Uncontrollable jerky twitches, movements and facial tics caused by the long term use (which varies in each patient) of some psychiatric medications. It can inhibit mobility dramatically and it's permanent even if you stop taking the medication. There is no alternative curative treatment. Ketamine was initially a horse tranquilizer and is a popular party drug like ecstasy. Not exactly the best bona fides in comparison to ECT. Had a colonoscopy? The ten minutes of general anesthesia could kill you if you have a adverse reaction to it. Your anesthesiologist will have gone over the risks every time you are out under for a procedure or surgery. Do INFORMED research on the percentages of success rate versus side effects and choose what risk is bigger for you compared to the suffering you already are enduring.

ketamine is a fad like methadone clinics they are a money making gig. i have just finished ECT with Katamine while getting the ECT katamine does work but shows no long term effects.

I'm so sick of her and her self serving blog. ECT is brain damage and she just encourages it. If it worked so well she wouldn't have " needed" it for so long. Now on to TMS. Good luck and good riddance!

I'm currently undergoing ECT treatments and I'll be the first person to tell you that it has saved my life. I watched Jenny's RU-vid channel before starting and her courage in sharing her experience gave me some much needed hope when I had next to none. So, you may not agree with ECT but there are a lot of people out there who have gotten a second chance at life because of it. Unless you have a degree in psychiatry or have personally experienced this brain damage you speak of (in which case, you probably shouldn't be giving out medical advice) then maybe take a step back. Your negativity is only going to discourage people from having an open and honest dialogue about the pros and cons of ECT. Keep up the good work Jenny. It means so much to so many of us ❤️

I am having a hard time believing that you’re too dumb to understand that psychiatric treatments involve a cost/benefit analysis, just like virtually every other decision people have to make. So the way I see it is that I may be wrong and you are that stupid, or you get pleasure from giving this woman a hard time. At least she is dealing with her issues in a way that has a good chance of making her feel better. Maybe next she can take a page out of your book and improve her life by shitting on people who want to share their experience so other people can benefit.
