I just watched the Barbed Wire Match between Terry Funk and Sabu at Born to Be Wired 1997. That match was fucking BRUTAL. No wonder Paul Heyman never booked another Barbed Wire Match. That shit was gruesome. I LOVED IT.
As late as I was brought into liking wrestling. In 2008, my favorite wrestlers was always Sabu & RVD. I watched there old matches and love it more than the current wwe.
It should be noted that at the time ECW was on TNN, TNN itself was going through a bit of a rebranding and soul-searching phase - just prior they were "The Nashville Network" and were known for putting things like the Grand Ole Opry and lesser NASCAR/ASA races on TV - so the thought of them putting hardcore wrestling like ECW on TV was a bit of a surprise. By the time ECW was dropped and WWF/WWE was picked up, that soul-searching phase was long gone. They were ahead of their time on a network that, had they been around and gotten on TNN around 2002, would've been a near perfect fit.
@@premiumdude8353 Nah fam, I'd much rather live in a time watching AEW, New Japan and an actually decent WWE than the bs that geriatric Vince called wrestling in the 2010s. I do feel bad for you old guys though cuz it's still not as good as the 90s so of course you'd think anything modern sucks.
Yessir! Hit somebody with a head and arm Tazplex! Or go thru the streets like New Jack and just have a shopping cart full of shit to fuck people up with!
Put two headphones in you're ear. Blast this as loud as possible from start to finish. Now tell me you are not ready to fucking beat the shit out of someone?
I remember when ECW would come on at midnight when UPN would switch to some kinda local sub-UPN, and this music kicked. It had such a hardcore, underground atmosphere to it, especially for an 11 year old.
Ecw will never be forgotten.these are the guys who gave their souls, their sweat, their bodies just to entertain us.it didn't matter if it was a ppv or a house show, they always gave 110 of their heart.
Who's here after the GOAT got his flowers?? Who was there in the fucking ECW arena in the late 90s?? Lets here it for the lifeblood of ECW living on FOREVER
These comments saying that ECW should be brought back. You guys have to realize that if Vince McMahon is involved, IT IS NOT ECW. Let it rest in peace, and besides the hardcore blood and guts would NOT fit in today's world. Today fits with the likes of Lucha Underground, ROH and NXT.
+guy2008rules ECW is dead and should be left to rest. ECW wasn't about profiting off of silly nostalgia and wrestlers 20 years past their peak; in fact, rebelling against that sort of thing is EXACTLY what made ECW great. If 'ECW' ever lives again, it ought to be as a whole new promotion, one that truly represents the kind of anti-mainstream, attitude-driven popular zeitgeist of the era.
THANK YOU PAUL!!!!!! That was a classic ecw speech right there! No filter, uncensored, straight raw! What a time it was! Feel sorry for the people who missed out on those times. Him coming out to this brought goosebumps!
For we the 90s kids, this theme just carries so much emotions.. Sidenote - For me, ECW is Sandman and Sandman is ECW. It's 2023, and what I saw as a 8 years old child is still fresh in my memory. That Singapore wielding maniac with a can of beer in his hand entering through the crowd sometimes blooding his own forehead even before the match starts (RIP First Blood match). His rivalry with Raven is still the best rivalry I've seen in entire pro wrestling till date.
TheCrippler4real Loquendo - i get that you have your own opinion and think that CZW is better but ECW are the originator of what CZW is doing now, which is extreme wrestling. Really i think CZW is over doing it much with the amateur barbaric backyard style wrestling.
Flashing lights, blue and red. Echoed screams, fill your head. Puffs of smoke, dreams and hopes. Through the dark, to the ropes. Show the world, you've got heart. One bell rings, a battle starts. Break the rules, stand on chairs. Jump off the ropes fly through the air. A game of chess with real Knights. Time to think chance to fight. You're on top, all at stake. Can't be stopped, will won't break. Crimson mat, bodies broken. One man falls, victor chosen. His dreams crushed, your hand raised. A band of gold, around your waist.
Why do we miss ECW? It wasn’t clean. It wasn’t pure. It wasn’t sanitized. It was dirty. It was violent. It was honest. It was exciting. It was unique. It wasn’t about doing what worked in the past. It was about doing it their way. ECW was the perfect representation of the 90’s counterculture when people dared to go against the established order and take the risk to stand out. 2024 will be the 30th anniversary of the Shane Douglas NWA Title belt toss that created the spirit of extreme. We grieve for ECW not just because of the violence and matches and characters. But because it ended too soon. Because of what could have been. We weren’t ready to say goodbye. Thank you and congrats Paul Heyman. Thank you to every wrestler living and passed on who gave everything to make extreme a household word.
Whoever was playing this on a local fresno channel at 11pm on Fridays......thank you! If it wasn't for you, I would of never became the ECW fan I was meant to be.
Even though ECW is gone but it will never be forgotten nobody will forget it ECW really changed the face of wrestling you still hear ECW chant's ECW will forever live #ECW
@@miguelpadilla6536 doubt nobody in ecw was jumping off of cages bc there were none and jumping off like a 20ft ladder like jeff was. he would’ve been fine but rn he blessed to not have any serious long term injuries
They should let Paul Heyman come out to this song on wwe, now that he runs raw. The pop he would get would be unbelievable but it would have to be in Chicago or philly the true wrestling cities to make it special
I can imagine paul heyman being in a feud with triple h and the authority and heyman telling the authority hes brining back up, then next week the authority are in the ring with a bunch of wwe superstars telling paul heyman bring your back up then this music starts playing and paul heyman walks out with a few ecw orignials and and a load of indy guys saying 'welcome to the rebirth of ECW!!!' and then the wrestlers run to the ring scare off the wwe superstars while the music carries on playing and the show ends there!
Since they do the "old school" show every now and then, they should change the ratings back to PG-13 for one night. That would get people to watch a bit more.
I can just picture 5 tables stacked on top of each other in the scaffold match, 100 chairs flying into the middle of the ring, Hammerstein Ballroom, & Sandman in the crowd smashing a beer on his forehead! Long live ECW🤘📺💥
***** bear in mind, NXT is a place for either non established wrestlers to start building an audience - or - for young aspiring wrestlers to cut their teeth and learn.. it's WWE's minor league - so think of it like that... Triple A baseball or D League Basketball isn't going to be as good as the MLB or NBA..
+Dylan Malcolmson ECW was something to be enjoyed in the moment. In retrospect, it wasn't very good and wouldn't fly today in front of a mass audience. NXT, just so you know, is currently awesome and is putting out a better product than the main WWE roster at the moment.
I remember this and will always be a loyal fan of ECW. I was always a loyal fan of WCW...not too much WWF at the time but I did still like WWF but WCW was my brand of choice until I discovered ECW and ECW was the real deal and I loved everyone on the ECW roster. Everyone!!! Great fond memories of ECW. Friday Nights were the best in wrestling at this time. : )))
I was to young when ECW original was in action, but i saw a few matches and i had to that was really good. I can't imagine how bad has to feel watch how your favorite wrestling company gets destroyed :(
Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero. Enough said. And yeah, I know about what Benoit did. Outside the ring, yeah. But inside the ring, fantastic athlete. Again, Chris Benoit and Eddie, enough said.
@@IAmBushid0 shut up someone killed him and his familys because that person who killed them is smart and pro that why they cover it up and make say chris benoit kill his family and himself so don't believe the news they alway lied
For those that didn't know because uploader didn't put it in the description: The theme was made by Harry and the Slashtones; ECW's in-house band that they had do some of the themes.
Imagine if on AEW’s first tv show they announce their GM and this music or a slight remix starts playing and Paul heyman comes out, building would go nuts.
This song makes me feel like if I was at e3 1995 when Playstation was shown. Flashing lights, strobe lights, dancing girls on poles upside. Ppl doing backflips.
Monday night raw , Monday night nitro & ECW started wachting them back in 99 & 00 I was only 6&7 yrs old when wresting was the shit !! & got in trouble in school trying to do these moves with classmates 😂😂
