Great Content as always. I didn’t know you could swap a EK pump into a EF tank good knowledge to know as I’m working on my 91 EF. I’m sure I’ll have to do that swap down the road. Can’t wait to see this project done for your customer. 💪💪💪

KILLER JOB! Making me think about a lot of things to do. Mine is a SI and already 1.6 efi. So I don't think Ill need to go to the extremes you did for fuel. I'm thinking about throwing in s B20 since B16, B18 are money. I just want a good looking track car to race on the track and have fun.

Just use the cable and speedo drive from the old gearbox ... pretty sure it will work

you guys got a d-series with carburetors over in australia? we never got any with carb's here in the USA only dpfi and mpfi I bet it would be fun to try and make a blow through turbo setup with the carbs just to see how it works I bet you could make them work on the d16y8 also just use an rpm window switch to trigger the vtec solenoid on at the rpm you want vtec to kick in. Me and my little brother both own turbo d-series vitara builds he has an EF and I got an EG.

Hey brother! Great video! I did the same sort of bracket in my EF for hydro conversion. You will end up having to remove some of the vent ducting under driverside dash to all room though. One down side. On the rear T bracket and trans mount, can't wait to see how you get it to work. I thought there were no factory options when converting the the hydro trans vtec D Series. Perhaps the D16Y8 with hydro is different from the D16Z6 I swapped into mine? Love watching your build process! Gives so much good insight!

Excellent to see someone just having a go. I love Honda's having spent 3 years as an apprentice on them. If your taking suggestions? Surge tank or a small cup/swirl pot(should be one in the other EFI Tank), of sorts for in the fuel tank for the pickup sock to sit in.....it'll run without it, but will suffer a little in corners, braking and acceleration with fuel starvation....

Thanks bro , I did already think about that, but the pick up is at the back so the gforces will always keep the fuel there plus there is baffles inside the tank so pretty lucky

No power steering please! 89-95 were plenty available without any power steering & they're perfect to drive. In addition the ecu should sit in the passenger foot well & more then likely it already have provisions to mount even tho that was a carb d15 Edit edit- was typing while watching, looks like you got the ecu nice Edit edit edit- sorry, I'm guessing with the dash harness not plugged into anything will be missing ground to ecu to trigger the cel. This will cause the ecu to run in constant open loop never taking measure from the o2 to trim fuel. I have a bad feeling bout the missing speedo to ecu connection too. That will probably also flag the cel so you might have to find a work around. 🇺🇸

I think this car will have fuel problems when cornering hard as there is no baffles in the fuel tank to stop it.

the factory fuel tank does have baffles even the first gen 79 civic has baffles - thanks harry appreciate your concern

Okay well some people and I know had an ed but a sedan and they did this but they were getting feeling problems on hard corners at the track and had to swap to a crx tank... if what you say is true maybe it's just the sedan tank that has this problem.

Omg we have had a problem with our UK CRX fitting a stage 2 clutch kit to it, the kit was for a 20T cable type clutch system and for some reason instead of operating the clutch, it'd just stretch the cable :( so for now we fitted a standard clutch kit and the lightened flywheel, sadly a hydro conversion kit is only available for LHD :(

@@lucaspaulina9727 that’s roughly $300 usd in remanufactured power steering rack and pinion and pump. After that I’m clueless on those 😂 but to go electric would probably cost more and could be funds for other fun parts on the car. Tristan will have more knowledge I’m sure

Sick video, thought it was impossible to do to my ef, just bought a d16y4! Can you not just re use the hard fuel lines that already run the length of the car?

You could I guess but who knows how man joins are in the lines or anything, carby cars run low pressure pumps if you ran high psi it might leak inside the car, just waiting on engine mounts and I can install it

@@TURBOTRISTO Do the carby lines run INSIDE the car, not underneath?? True, I think I'll try pilfer the lines from an efi EF, not many shells left even at the wreckers here... Someone brake-checked me today on the way to work and caved in my facelift ef bumper and light bracket, no damage to anything behind the bumper thank god. Hard to replace however...

Hi mate just doing my own swap in my carby ef (D16Z6 swap), gone down the route of cutting tank for the fuel pump as I also saw you doing it too thought was great idea, cut a reasonable hole of 76mm but the gasket that I have with the ek fuel pump I've got (looks slightly different to yours more angled but may work) doesn't seem to fit properly, so what gasket are you using to seal the fuel pump when bolted down ? As don't want any leaks when she's filled up haha, thanks and great vids ! 👍

G'day Dean, i used the carrier and gaskets from an efi ek civic and I used an ek1 fuel pump(same fuel pump does all b/d series hondas, this car is now running and Ill be doing some filming of is soon but it runs fine no issues no leaks and no smells

Thanks for the reply bud, so you used gasket off the pump, just the hole you made looked quite big that the gasket may sit slightly off ? Or does it crush down to seal proper? And great knews can't wait for the vid and to see how what got it going I'd imagine the wiring was a headache for you mate, I've got a eg interior harness il be fitting in soon as I've sorted the tank! smitty, how are you, with the speedo i used the carb speedo cable and speed sensor, and for the remaining wiring componant for the tacho and to make the car run i sent it to the experts Advance autotronics- there is a recent video in the last 6 months of me driving it and i must say it rips great little car

@@TURBOTRISTO thanks for that. Where abouts are those guys located? I'm currently in the process of aquiring the final pieces to do a b series swap on a 3g 1985 ah civic and stuck at what to do for wiring and speedo. Everything else has been bought just about to start on the process.

Sorry for the noob question but I have a 2000 ek Civic with a D16Y4, is this engine VTEC? If not why does it launch at around 4-5k rpm?

D16y4 is not vtec but the do have a peak power band around 4500 and higher

Dam what a way to fuck up a fuel tank all you had to do was change the fuel pump and use original hanger. You cannot change pedal assembly’s they won’t fit or mix and match. This is turning into a shit show bad info and horrible mistakes put the nut cert gun down .use the original speed sensor from the transmission

They had a mechanical fuel pump that works off the cam shaft.. that's why he had to.
