Ed wrote and dedicated this song to his friend and mentor Michael Gudinski who unexpectedly died in March, a legendary Australian record label founder and music producer, Ed has always said he was like a father figure to him. He performed at Michael’s State funeral in Melbourne and afterward wrote this song. A beautiful song and tribute to his friend.

When Ed sheeran stopped for a second longer I didn’t know what was going on, and then when he sang with his shaky voice and teared up, my heart couldn’t HELP but melt.

This is no doubt one of the most beautiful songs ever.

This would be horrifically hard!! A song sung for a close personal friend at their funeral! Gosh I’d be hard enough to say a eulogy and trying not to cry multiple times listening or speaking let along trying to sing (still sounding good) playing the guitar and try not to cry/get too emotional. Condolences to all the family & friends! I love the song but hate the circumstances surrounding how it came about/how we were able to hear it. But I’m glad it was written & sung because it’s another song that is so real & down to earth that (almost) everyone can relate to it, Empathise with its lyrics and help us all process our own grief & loss!

That’s a great artist doing what they do, one of the only rare jobs that takes your work all the way to your heart and to tears, revealing your passion, your heart, your soul, your heart on your sleeve, open, bare, no curtains, just the truth, great job as always Ed Sheehan and Michael Solomon Gudinski, all the best to his family 💐

That was tough to watch. Great song. I love the way Ed shows he is human and actually gets into the song emotionally vs playing like a robot. The 3 people who actually hit dislike have no soul.

He said sorry when his emotions overwhelmed him and he stopped singing for a second (2:51). I wish Ed would never feel the need to apologize for his emotions. No one will be bothered by it and no one will enjoy the show less because he's showed emotions. After all, they make him human, relatable and the create these amazingly touching songs. I wish he could feel all the compassion we all have for him :(

His music has aways had a a special place in my heart for different reasons. But this song made me cry because it reminded me of my dad who died when I was 7. My best wishes to his family.

But "Supermarket Flowers" and "Visiting Hours" will forever remind me of my mum.
