Sullivan was wrong about The Doors and Morrison. Jim sang the song like the way it was recorded. He was not afraid of Sullivan and possibly not to be invited back for a second time because Jim was smart enough to know that the Doors were already a hit. They didn't go on the show to gain popularity,they already were popular.

And Masterson, who used to referee boxing matches ( once he pulled a gun, in the ring, on a boxer outraged by a decision by Masterson) wrote sports stories among others. There is a movie from about 1940 that I saw on late night TV a couple times abt 50 years ago , a western with Claire Trevor, Barry Sullivan and the actor who played 'Dr. Cyclops' , Albett Decker , based on an article Bat wrote abt a lost love of his called ' a woman of the town'..a very good movie for a B production...

It is wonderful having a person who was so close to him and knew him so well for so many years,, AS YOU APPARENTLY ARE, to share your most moving insights. In reality, you may be surprised that there are not many in Hollywood or Rock that are genuinely NICE people. Jimmy Stewart, Greg Peck or Vincent Price, all 3 of whom I knew, were exceptions, but few and far between. Most of this video is to denigrate him ( more interesting for some of that ilk) but if you read books by some of the people who knew him long term , like Jack Benny, Harpo Marx , George Burns, you get a more balanced view. You want someone EVIL??..Walter Winchell, kirk douglas, the heads of many of the studios, walkace beery should give you joy!

My neighborhood was not far from Baldwin Hills, where I worked every summer at the Crenshaw Shopping district, during high school. Your sarcasm is ignorance in disguise. You don’t know WHO I knew, who and what I was exposed to. I remember listening to black celebrities who lived in Baldwin Hills because at the time they weren’t allowed to live in Beverly Hills, and various other upscale cities. they often talked about monsters like Ed Sullivan. And wonderful people like Marilyn Monroe, who by the way, catapulted Ella Fitzgerald’s career. A famous nightclub in Hollywood refused to allow Ella to sing in their club because they didn’t want “colored” entertainers. Marilyn Monroe threatened to close them down if Ella was not allowed to sing. And the rest is history. By assuming you can get get away with your childish and condescending comment regarding my experience in life, showed who you are; can you get any more Bitter? You’re unhappy as hell. Anyway, Taylor was a better actor than tyrone power, his rival from fox( Taylor at mgm) who almost NEVER is shown actually LISTENING to what the other actors are saying..I am sure that you have heard the line ' a graduate from the tyrone power school of acting'....Taylor listened and was sincere and, from QUO VADIS on , became a better actor, esp. in Westerns. But, dying of cancer, he was really tailing off from abt 1964 to his death. Taylor and power also broke in in 1934, Flynn as well, the four most handsome actors from 4 different studios. MacMurray was the king of romantic comedies, which his studio, Paramount, specialized in, power ( with Alice faye) was 20th century foxes biggest money maker from abt 1938 thru 1947, Flynns roles, by 1948, were getting less and less, drink and scandal did not help, while from 1950 on Taylor was easily the biggest star of the 4. While ranking second at mgm in the 30s and 40s only to Gable, the king of Hollywood.
