My husband just bought me one. Out of the blue! I LOVE IT!!! The fact I can get different blades and replacement parts.....AMAZING! He got it for $82. I looked it up and was shocked that he got a pretty good price, from a retailer......We both win on this!
I called Cobra Teck to ask how to make the knife easier to release as the switch was really hard to open. The rep at CTK spoke English lol and was very helpful and kind. Told me I could stretch the spring if I’m comfortable doing it or I could send it to him and he would do it. He also said if I stretched the spring too much he would send me a new spring. Very pleased with their customer service but disappointed the parts are made in China.
I’ve had the ctk-1 large and recently bought the fs-3 and love both of them. I prefer the handle finish on the fs-3 though because it seems more grippy. They are both rather durable and I have had very few misfires when deploying them. Have had cheaper Otf knives that would misfire so often that I would not consider them for edc use but these are just great
I have the large version. Black handle & 2 toned blade. So far it has worked flawlessly. I also have 5 Microtechs and like the CTK-1 as well. Good Otf for not a lot of money.
Thanks for taking time to comment. I constantly get comments where people say it’s not like the Microtechs and I totally agree, they work great but at half the cost. But I’m like you I own both and love carrying my Microtechs but always fear I’m gonna lose them.
I own several OTF knives, one of them a Cobratec, a Benchmade Infidel, a MicroTech & a few others! They're great tools and in Nebraska I can carry them anywhere except the courthouse and a couple other municipal buildings.
Great video I really appreciate you taking the time to do this. Yesterday I ordered the cobratec lightweight and I'm excited for it to get here. I don't really have any experience with their customer service as far as product replacement or repair however I did call them yesterday and talked to a very nice gentleman on the phone who answered all my questions and went into great detail and was super friendly and gave me great confidence in the product and their customer service in general.
I can't bring myself to buy a microtec when I can buy a decent handgun for the same price or less. But it makes sense at cobratecs price. Mine will be arriving tomorrow. Can't wait.
Cobratech is as good as it needs to be. However, Microtech is levels above it. In craftmanship, engineering and in material usage. They are WELL worth the money if you want to have the best of the best. However I don't fault you for settling with cobratech, for most it does what you need it to do. Just not as sexy as microtech ;) I own a Cobratech fs3 small and a microtech Exocet
Just got a cobratec FS-3 with a tanto blade. I immediately noticed the blade was extremely sharp (sharper than my Benchmade that gets sharpened regularly). D2 steel is a high carbon really durable steel. I've noticed that the switch is very stiff and rough on my thumb to open, but that can be fixed by either stretching the spring or breaking it in over time.
Exactly glad you like the knife. I just bought a double sided serrated dagger bladed Version it’s been great. Thanks for taking time to share we really appreciate the feedback.
There located out of Waxahachie Texas which I only live 30 minutes away from Great customer service you can send it back in for repairs or anything I didn’t send it since I live so close I just drive up to their store great knife
That’s awesome and great to hear. I’ve had mine get gummed up, usually it’s lint from my jeans pocket. I’ve had to take mine apart but it’s very easy to do.
@@greatamericansurvival I don't have the proper screw drivers to open my knife up thus I had to send it back. I would love to get one with the glass breaker, I will go with a drop tip serated
Here we can buy & own them but cannot carry. Funny that I have had my pistol permit since 1973 but would be arrested if caught carrying one of these. BS laws based on movies from the 1950s.
Microtech is Tiffany and cobra tech is Woolworth. I have both and I just don’t get why they the slide trigger part is milled out to be smaller , basically designed as a weak point .
I bought the large CTK-1 black with the standard drop point last week. I love the looks of the knife, the weight is heavy, the blade is extremely sharp which I love. However the switch is extremely stiff and to close most of the time. I sent it back to Dustin White at CobraTek. He said he could adjust the switch, However I have to pay for shipping to return it. To me any reason to return the brand new $125 knife with a lifetime warranty should cover shipping?! I did order the lightweight model for my girlfriend thinking it would be easier to open. But it came today just as hard to open. She literally cannot open it. It's that stiff as well. So I'm not really happy so far. T. Haslett
@@Knoxvillian36 the blade and mechanism are good. Handle not so much. My glass breaker already stripped out because the handle is soft aluminum. I would pay $50 extra for a steel handle. I stripped the coating off of mine. Wasn't too hard considering my pocket did most of the work in about 2 weeks. I polished the aluminum to a mirror and clear coated it. Looks killer now.
@@TheMainMan. I agree all the way around with what you said. As for the finish I got the stonewashed, so after a couple weeks it was almost gone. As for polishing and coating it, that sounds like it would be a good look on it.
Each individual user has their own experience mine so far has been a positive one. My question is simply what type of underlying issue is there that you have her do use a knife you said several times in self-defense and I mean that with no disrespect but I am almost 40 years old I have been in some of the worst areas imaginable just in every day life and spent nine years as a police officer never found myself using a knife or any weapon in self-defense luckily and being fortunate I guess as well. Again I mean it with respect if you have had to use a knife or weapon in self-defense once completely understandable twice even OK but what is going on that you have had several occasions that you had to use a knife ?
Honest question during college I lived in LA before and after the riots. I’ve been, car jacked, robbed/mugged even assaulted in broad day light. Didnt have a carry permit yet and twice my knife saved my life and once more it was the attackers knife I use. My situational awareness wasn’t very good. I parked in bad parking spots, walked down dark trails at night and honestly was just unaware of the dangers out there. I don’t want people to make the same mistakes I have. I’ve been a martial artist since I was in middle school and that helps but not enough. Thanks for serving our county on several levels.
Never trust a review that only shows all positives. This is a Chinese knife, no way its perfect, especially after watching other reviews. Clearly you got paid to sell it
Got my first one from a guy I work with after he cut part of his finger off. Honestly I just haven’t had any issues with this knife. I think most other reviews are to critical of knives like this. For the price point it’s a great knife. Get one and try it out see what you think and let me know. I’d appreciate any and all feedback. Do you have an OTF knife you like?
I don't think he's blowing smoke here. He's saying for a light use, budget friendly otf, it perfoms sufficiently and is made of decent steel. Read the comments, it seems to be great bang for your buck
@@foofmonger I fully agree. These knives are just like any "tool/weapon". They all have their place. I just bought a large version and the only reason it will get used is if I have to shank someone, which means the likelihood of it ever seeing any use is slim to none.
