On March 18, 2018, TCM showed "Crossfire" (1947) as its selection for its weekly "Noir Alley" show (Sunday mornings, 10 a.m.) Here is the intro by host Eddie Muller, aka The Czar of Noir.
Thanks bunches for posting this! I just finished watching Gentlemen's Agreement, hosted by Dave Karger, and he mentioned Crossfire after the movie. I thought I had seen Crossfire on Noir Alley, but wasn't sure. This clip reminded me that I HAD seen it.
I respect "Gentleman's Agreement," especiallythe scene when John Garfield softly explains bigtory to a naive Dorothy McGuire, But I think "Crossfire" easily was the Best Picture of 1947. The only way bigotry is to show it in its true ugliness. "Crossfire" succeeds with the brutalcharacter played by Robert Ryan. Ask anyoe who is a victim of racism. They'll probably tell you the pain they suffered is rsrely "subtle."
