Still have my old vinyl. I remember at age 15? picking up Farewell to Kings on a rare trip from Kingston to T.O. and commandeering my aunt's sound system to play that gem. Her comment "that guy sounds like a castrato". She missed 95% of what that album was.

We each create our lives. Whether we're aware of the depth of our moments creation or not. It's evident that Neil did not fully recover from his Wife and Daughter croaking. You can read it and sense it in "Ghost Rider"..which was a challenge book for me to finish because I Am sensitive to such things. People croak and are born daily so in that respect Neil is not special. There were several moments where I reflected inside myself when I read the news (didn't "hear" about it). Rush has been such a strong impact in My life as well. Since I understand reincarnation very well, and still remember choosing my Mother and Father, and understand what few people will talk about _especially those people who start to "forget" after the age of 3 to 7_ that we all continue on. There isn't any Christian R.I.P...or final destination (destiny). To help put things in perspective, you and I will also croak--only a change from one body to another when we choose to do so and Mother agrees. Just as Bono did, and many consider him The Best for a very long time ago. People went nuts when Elvis croaked also. It happens, and if you remain open enough to how life actually functions and what Enki and his Sister did to create humanity (genetically)..you will get a much greater understanding of the How and Why's of life. Neil left us a massive Catalog of music...and insights. Masterful in his writing, in how Geddy would help shape the lyrics for the music and blend them together. So, much left. There hasn't been another exact same Buddha, but there have been other Buddhas. Just as Buddha said there would be (and didn't want a religion after him). Neil...was a Buddha musically and how he wanted to share everything with everyone. That kind of circle will go on into Infinity. Blessed Be, and Rush'N'Roll.

@@biblebadcopycatofcuneiform8210 wOW you actually remember that? The agreements you made before your current incarnation? Well, I can say that I just intuitively have always believed REINCARNATION is the only TRUTH that makes sense to me. But do I have any memories prior to this incarnation? No .. Not that I am aware of. ... I also came to a conclusion that INFINITY or ETERNITY has to be A LOOP. A feedback loop. I continuous repetition of CYCLES. Sounds like what you are describing .. I little different wording but same concept.
@biblebadcopycatofcuneiform8210
@biblebadcopycatofcuneiform8210 3 года назад
@@sparkimoto "wOW you actually remember that?" - A person MUST discuss these topics often and frequently with family or others in order to retain then past the "ages" of 5 to 7. If you don't do so, OR...if you don't put last life time experiences into actions, and sort of re-live them a bit in current incarnation then the mind will grow and make new connections and separate the current personality/ego from the other(s) before. The World War 2 pilot is another that also remembers BEFORE birth. I've found several others also. My Mother, years ago, became very interested in how many other retain. "The agreements you made before your current incarnation?" - Yes, None of us are just blank slates. Science and the people who don't retain as I explained above, will become highly skeptical about any of it. Then, of course, there's the popular Cult Christianity that will attempt to convince people that you're broken or wrong. Blah, blah, blah. "Well, I can say that I just intuitively have always believed REINCARNATION is the only TRUTH that makes sense to me. But do I have any memories prior to this incarnation? No .. Not that I am aware of." - That's a huge difference. I don't "believe" any of it, I _know_ what I know. I'm not wishy-washy about it. I'm not "believing" that 1+1 could = 3 or 4. I'm not "believing" that some guy is going to "Save me" after I let go of the body because that's not at all what happens. That's why Christianity is a Cult. Noticing Neil's transition from it and knowing my own transition form it. People "believe" many things without actually _knowing_ much. The Double Helix exists without "believing" in it. It was very hard for the masses to accept that it existed when it was found...because the Cult had programmed the minds (and still do in 2021) that a Christian God is the creator of each person...and everything. Not accurate what-so-ever. What you have to break down is WHAT IS that Deity beyond the 3-letter words? Then you also What the "he" is...and that are names to "it" not found in the Unholy book. I know a lot of stuff through intuition. Intuition is what holds all of your life timesssss experiences. The mind doesn't have to, and that's not the purpose of the mind. It's purpose is to live NOW. Yes, notice some bread crumbs from the past but don't become stuck on the past. Live now, create now, and explore. If the mind retained everything it would become too bogged to be any good at living Now. The mind doesn't have a limited amount of storage, the skull will expand if needed. "I also came to a conclusion that INFINITY or ETERNITY has to be A LOOP. A feedback loop. I continuous repetition of CYCLES. Sounds like what you are describing .. I little different wording but same concept." - I can understand how you'd come to that Awareness. It's not a concept at all, which means an idea created by the mind. Smiling. You're typing about truth. Everything repeats but never the same way twice. So, we can have lives that are a very close match to one before But life details are so extremely detailed in every millisecond of a moment that that differences of dust in the air also makes the difference. Most people thing in vague generalities thus missing the deep, deep minutia. "The World is, the World is, "Love" and Life are Deep." We're not the only Being on and in this Planet that are highly intelligent. Nor is this the only planet with vast civilizations. This is why R.I.P. is a very funky, odd, and completely incorrect Christian/Catholic Cult idea. I Appreciate your message.

I will never forget this interview because of the girl before each segment building up Neil into this legendary rock musician who hides in caves and never speaks and how VH1 Classic was so cool because they were able to track him down and talk to him about his new book. It simply comes down to this: 1) When you speak to him, treat him like he is no better or important than you are, which is the truth whether your insecurity tells you otherwise 2) Don't follow his bus, knock on his hotel room door or act like you are psychopath. This is not normal behavior. He owes NOTHING to you when you behave like this, no matter if you went to the show or bought a Rush CD or if another rock band had no problem with you invading its privacy 3) Understand that there is a massive difference between introverts and shy people and extroverts. Neil is not shy. He is an introvert, and extroverts have a personality style that makes it very hard for them to understand introverts, while introverts perfectly understand extroverts. An introvert is the kid in the school cafeteria, reading a cool book, that could care less about the 7 kids at another table who are being noisy and social. The shy person is at another table, but he or she DESPERATELY wants to be a part of that group of 7 extroverts but is afraid to join the group or has insecurities. The introvert doesn't want to be a part of it. They prefer THEIR OWN COMPANY or to have very close friendships with very few people. It doesn't mean they are an asshole. It's just extremely hard for them to meet new people if you make them feel uncomfortable, because the number one issue with introverts is TRUST which can only be achieved over a certain period of time. It is a personality trait that Neil has that is UNIVERSAL to all introverts, whetther they're famous or not. When I read his books as an introvert, I totally agree with his views regarding invasive fans. I would HATE IT. He just hits things with sticks. The problem is that he is stuck in a business that expects him to be an extrovert, even though I believe with every ounce of my mind he believes he is no more important than a street sweeper. You can't have a relationship with someone who believes that you are better than they are. So it's why Neil is very uncomfortable around fans. If I saw him in a book store, despite the fact that he is my favorite musician at all time, I would leave him alone. Because I am an introvert, I 100% understand how he feels. I would want to be left alone. My greatest gift to him as a fan is just leave him alone, and it really bothers me when Rush fans cannot understand this and bash him for it . His behavior is authentic. He's behaving just as I would. It's not because he is a jerk. He's probably a wonderful human. But he has to be your friend, and he can't be friends with 2 million Rush fans.

One hundred percent agree that Neil, if he wants privacy and solitude, should have it. I certainly don't want to bother or idolize him either. But were I a gas station attendant and Neil passed me $15 for pump 8 to fill up his motorcycle, I would simply tell him, "Thanks for your excellent music!"

@skparkes1969
@skparkes1969 2 года назад
I don’t think Neil really thought he was no more important than a street cleaner. He recognised that his work was important to many people and he was proud of that but he was uncomfortable with the adulation that came with his fame. When you watch the movie with him, Geddy and Alex you see a man comfortable with his friends, without ego and enjoying their company. And I think that is the point. He enjoyed the company of others but those people were his friends - not distant strangers who just happened to like his music, or their version of him. So I agree with you that he was shy (his words), or introverted (perhaps) and I agree he was humble but I don’t agree with your assessment of his sense of self. He knew full well he was important and he lived every day trying to make sure he justified the esteem in which he was held.

For a reserved man he liked to talk when it was about his passions....which are so delicious. Way to live Neil. You earned yourself the opportunities to feel everything. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Fascinating it is that Neil described the memory of Ernest Hemmingway and the Native Americans of the Trail of Tears as vapor trails. I am tempted to say Neil, in his passing, has left his own vapor trail, but his impact on music and our culture rockets along like a comet.

Live that quote from Neil at 14 minutes and 14 seconds. " I just hit things with sticks ! " . The most Peartesgue phrase ever.!! Einstein just wrote numbers with chalk on a board ! Hendrix just put his tongue on guitar strings ! Hank Aaron hit a baseball very far. Yes that's all these greats did . However it is in the way a human does these things and how and when they do them that Elevates them from the Norm. The most impactful, influential human's in history just did something we all can do ! They just tried a little harder, went a little further than the norm! Thx Neil! 📝🥁🎵🐇✒️

It takes a real Rush fan to understand that "Hangin' with Neil Peart" is a VERY RARE opportunity.

Yes the Background (music) was done wrong. Especially the piano thing. I personally just blocked it out and Listened to Neil. My hero from when I first heard the band. (1977 ...2112) 1977 was when I first heard Rush. '76 of course is when the album came out. Thanks for sharing this with us, gracious host.

That's a great comment! He's a fine drummer but you need to read his lyrics too. He's a very thoughtful individual; a master of words and always looking for ways to grow. That's really something to admire. One thing I love about Rush is their sense of rhythm and variations in their music. Many songs have interesting bass-lines and drums at the same time perfectly mixed together and completing each other. You can hear it the most in their late '70s music and whole of their '80s music as well.

One of the coolest moments of my life was walking around Sarnia Ontario before bayfest in 2010 and seeing Neil ride by on his bike and me and my party all waved and casually said “Hi Neil”. We didn’t fully know it was him as we said it, but after the words left our mouths we looked at the details of the bike, the fact that it was following a prevost bus with a trailer, and that it turned down a dead end street which only could have possibly lead to the artist entrance. Later that night I got to witness Rush for the first time. 3rd row, 2010. I was 17. My dad was there. What an amazing day. I even felt like such a rush nerd I won some radio show contest that day while in line to get in because I knew some wild rush lyric trivia question. The prize ended up not mattering because it was vip tickets which I already had, anyways. RIP Neil. My life goal was to work with you, which never came true. But I’ve worked closely with Liam Birt and that’s close enough. No stranger/celebrity death has ever remotely affected me but I cried for a long time when you passed.

As much as I liked VH1 for different reasons (Eddie Trunk interviews, Lynn Hoffman's cute smile and tight little body), that background music during the interview is so intrusive. And the piano sound with the cheap graphics is incredibly stupid. One more thing: Neil Peart for PM.

He prefers a reclusive life. He is a bit of an introvert who happens to have phenomenal talent on drums. Not everyone in show business are shallow, spotlight sucking narcissist. Me me me me. He isn’t like that, I wish people understand and respect his personality. I myself am very much a introvert, I hate how much ‘hate’ and disdain Neil (and other introverts) get in society. We don’t hate other people, we just prefer a life with more solitude than others.

I am the same way. I am more reclusive as I age. I don’t have friends who like doing what I like to do. I enjoy riding my motorcycle at 63 years old. I don’t like attention I feel so embarrassed by it. Some people at work think I’m stuck up, but I just am a private person and I don’t meddle in people’s personal business. I choose to be happy and don’t care about being around negative people.
