He always delivers such raw emotion and cuts to the core of a song. Amazing performer. Thank you Eddie Vedder for singing Tom Petty's most beautiful song.
Love Eddie.. this performance makes me love his stuff more than I could love love love his previous stuff.. even more. I don't think there's a better or more genuine living old school rock god than this guy. Love love love everything Ed. Just sayin.. I love Ed.
There's very few singers that can do bittersweet better than Eddie Vedder. . .What a great tribute to some amazing leaders in music and film. Loved it.
I could listen to that man forever and never get tired of that voice. I'm 27 years in and counting...and love him just as much now as I did the first time I heard that voice on the radio in 1991. That voice is like a warm fuzzy blanket around my soul. I am so very grateful for Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam.
To George A. Romero, you gave a legacy that has inspired 20 plus years of joy and creativity that would have been forgotten or ruined. I remember watching your sixth film Dawn of the dead at the age of six and being inspired to draw, to write ,to pick up a camera and just being free. Now having a degree in fine arts and graphic design I give thanks to the Godfather of the dead for enjoying and embracing his work, his art, his living dead child. May the godfather rest now and be remember for many generations to come.
MrSpinel Horror was appreciated but never recognized for the art that it was. I think the fact that many of us still enjoy the geunra to keep it alive is worth more to the directors than an object.
Thanks George Romero for your great movies like the night of the living died, Dawn of the dead, the return of the living died, land of the dead , im zombie fan, again millón thanks
Erin Lingsweiler :( Eddie is an A1 class act. And both Petty and Cornell were the same. I cried when both these men died. Eddie has to live till he's at least 80 bc when something happens to him I will lay in bed for at least a day or 2. Did it on Cornell bc we were suppose to see him the next night.
Man Eddie just puts you there doesnt he? I hope he stays for us. I love him. It would be fitting I think in a way, If he were there to sing them all off... What a beautifully somber voice. I really feel it when he sings, and Chris too. Powerful stuff.
I’ve listened to this at least 20 times since it was uploaded. Never really followed Pearl Jam for whatever reason, but I must say Eddie knows how to get a song across. So good.
And it was pretty much the only thing worth watching tonight. Everything else was just a scorecard of aggrievement along gender and racial lines, and nasty political barbs and whiny liberal virtue signaling and entitlement.
Saloni Saini they were members of the Academy, Shashi Kapoor starred in the first ever movie that James Ivory made, and Sri Devi is very popular especially among the French because of her vulnerability and a distinctive charm that reminds people of Audrey Hepburn. Of course they had to include them. They don't do it for any random Indian actor that dies. Tom Alter wasn't included.
I didn't know Michael Ballhaus has passed away, man, he was on of my favorite cinematographers. His work in Goodfellas and Bram Stoker's Dracula was remarkable
this was so emotional. i mean, i know like 2 people of the ones they showed but just looking at the pics of the other people and their names... it’s so huge. the voice of eddie vedder and the song in general helped me to really think of the people that passed away and genuinely remember them. :( R.I.P
Thank you Academy for including the Evergreen and dashing Shashi Kapoor and the late and very young Sridevi. She is a legend an icon and regarded as India first female superstar especially in Bollywood. Thank you recognizing Bollywood and these two Legends!
We lost the precious Sridevi ji way too soon. Still can't get over the fact she's no more. She's truly a superstar. Humble, beautiful and so angelic. RIP Sridevi, we love you forever 💕
umm, sorry but this is objectively, factually WRONG. And you'd be hard pressed to find a bigger Pearl Jam/Eddie Vedder fan than me. But even all of us diehard fans since the beginning can acknowledge his voice has deteriorated over the years, as will be the case with practically all vocalists. I still worship him, and know he's a fine singer, but he can't also can't hit the extremes like he used to. And that's not a thing to be avoided, pushed to the side or ignored, it's just a fact of life.
Do you ever find yourself checking, every so often, whether a particular person or people are still with us? I must confess I do for quite a few people. Not the super famous ones, obviously, they'll make news. But June Foray was one I used to look up every so often, for a couple reasons. One, she was an integral part of so many children's lives, even if they didn't know it. God knows how many characters she voiced. The other reason, if they're very old, is a kind of silly hope that they will make it to triple figures. In the case of June, she died only a few weeks before her 100th birthday. RIP to her, and all who have entertained us so wonderfully over the years.
