@@sd4857 If you can take it seriously. I mean, they put Jan Chapman in the segment for Janet Patterson. She's still alive, and she's a producer, not a Costume Designer. I mean, I did not get it when I first saw it, but when I learned about it online, I thought, huh?!
@@dirdib69 Pure crap since you don't see Alan Rickman and David Bowie. You want to see one with respect, dignity, and grief check out TCM, it's way better than anything the academy can produce in memory.
It's been 4 years and still everytime I see Anton and Carrie, I'm crying. He was too young and about to create his legacy as great actor. She left a legacy as one of the first true action female heroes. She was my first Princess. I fell in love with Leia when at age of 4 I saw Empire Strikes Back on TV. My mom told me that I kept claiming that I will marry Princess Leia.
One of the best In Memoriam segments in recent memory. Sara’s incredible voice, the song arrangement and the voiceovers of some of the actors who passed was simply beautiful.
Anton Yelchins death still feels like a universal fuckup and something that wasn't meant to happen. like it feels like he should still be here and meant for more
@@sha11235 it was a really horrible accident where his car handbrake malfunctioned and hit him when it rolled back. worst part is the car model he had was recalled under a month later because of the same fault
You took the words right outta my mouth. To this day, it STILL feels like a glitch in reality, something that was never supposed to happen. He deserved so much better.
@@Whitehousebeetle The 1991 cult romantic chick flick has honored a 1992 Grammy Award nomination. A HBO/Cinema Plus presentation in association with Regency Enterprises, Le Studio Canal Plus and Alcor Films of a BECO production for BBC Films, Buena Vista (USA/Canada) and Warner Bros. (other countries throughout the world). In 1997, Seagram- based ITC Entertainment Group finally bought the syndication rights to the film on their behalf of both Disney and Time Warner.
A memoriam is usually very touching; but this particular tribute stands out in it's choice of such a haunting song and the excruciatingly moving rendering...and among the artists lost are personal favorites that remain branded in my memory treasure box...
In my opinion the most dignified and most suitable Memoriam Montage shown at the Academy Awards. The live singer is the least that the Academy can do for its fallen film heroes.
Carrie and Debbie being back to back makes the tragic circumstances of their deaths so much more heartbreaking and this in memoriam was heartbreaking for Star Wars and Star Trek
One of my most favorite In Memoriam Montage by the Academy and Sara Bareilles’ rendition of this beautiful Song… but in my opinion Debbie Reynolds deserves the final spot and if not a much longer clip than what was presented, and also Nancy Reagan who was one of the most notable 1st Lady has a short clip…
R.i.p. awesome performers, never lose the passion for recalling the memory of strong artistic personalities that made of our lives a better place fans eternal gratitude great movie stars and icons that gave us the best life inspirations
John Hurt, Gene Wilder, Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, Ken Adams, Kit West, Michael Cimino, Kenny Baker, Marni Nixon: we are FOREVER in your debt as you are in our hearts and minds!
It was so strange, I had seen Anton in a few films and had just seen Odd Thomas, I really loved it and I remember thinking this guy is definitely my favourite actor, not that I even had a favourite actor really, but I just really liked this guy, and then what not long later I found out he had passed away 😞 RIP Anton
Seeing Gene, Carrie, and Anton espesially hurt me on an emotional level. I just watched the og Willy Wanka and absolutely loved Wilder’s performance. I’ve watching some bits and pieces of the Abrams Trek reboot films and I always miss Anton when seeing Chekov.
Go champs go for it, spreading good vibes is never enough, celebrating together the freedom of expression that is vital just like the air we breathe fans
This is the finest arrangement of Both Sides Now, and brilliantly performed by Sara Bareilles. This is a magnificent piece of music, with or without the Oscars.
Om Puri is one of the best actors in the industry who've made the final cut at the 2017 Oscars Memorial tribute on ABC. We all miss you, man. God bless. But several people who just didn't get it and they are Robert Vaughn, Richard Davalos, Charmian Carr and Bud Spencer weren't popular in motion pictures but they're all successful in a variety of television, theater and music projects plus other activities too.
Beautifully sung. Even in a few places where she tweaked the melody and I would have preferred the original notes, I didn't much mind it because she sang it so well.
There was another one with a different song that was so sad, I can’t find it here and it featured Debbie Reynolds holding Carrie Fisher as a baby I think, I bawled every time I listened to it 😢
I'd say they kinda missed the opportunity to perform Sometimes It Snows In April given the fact that Prince was pretty much the most culturally impactful death of 2016 alongside David Bowie's (not to downplay the rest of these immensely important people, especially Carrie Fisher), but once again, "I'd say" if not for the fact that they chose this absolutely beautiful song that fits perfectly with this memoriam. Just finished watching the 2024 Academy Award ceremony and for some reason, I decided to see a whole bunch of in memoriam tribute performances.
The fact is Academy Award winner Prince who has made the final cut at 2017 Oscars but Sir David Bowie who didn't make it at all. I hope you understand - loud and clear. That's all.
@@markelijio6012 What the hell is your point with this? By the way, I think he was included in the 2016 in memoriam given that he died very early in january 2016, although I haven't seen that one in a while. Bowie had a very fruitful carreer in film, one that far outshines Prince's if we're being realistic.
Bill Paxton died a day before the Oscars but the family didn’t announce it until the next day. They didn’t have time to include that why Jennifer Aniston mentioned him before she introduced Sarah
He died the day before but it wasn’t announced until the next day. They didn’t have the time re-edit it so they probably asked Jennifer Aniston to mention him
nicely done .. 2022 was not good .. people standing on stage giving little summaries on some of the actors .. and the year before the musical selection was too fast and the whole thing was too fast .. this is how it's done
Everyone needs salvation here are the words of salvation please forgive me jesus im a sinner come into my heart and save me from my sin I no that you are the savior and I no that you died for me on calvary and I no that God raise you from the dead and you are alive and I thankyou for your salvation in Jesus holy name amen and its important to always ask for forgiveness everynite 💤
ujuku2108 he died like only two days before or something like that because Jennifer Aniston was the presenter for the in memorial and said something about him
Paxton died the day before the ceremony, and the news didn't become widespread until the day itself. The Academy simply didn't have time to edit the In Memoriam segment before the ceremony began, so they settled on Jennifer Aniston (who presented the segment) to do a verbal tribute beforehand.
2:41 guys Don't forget him he made a different zone for himself in Bollywood trust me if he could have been Competate any one in Hollywood seriously what could have happened
Alan Rickman already got a dedication in the previous year's ceremony. Bill Paxton died the day before this ceremony, and the news didn't become widespread until the big day itself; the Academy just didn't have time to re-edit the segment, so Jennifer Aniston paid a verbal tribute for him before the segment begins.
